Engineering Technology 3D Lab

With the help of a $1.5 million CUNY 2020 grant awarded in 2014, QueensboroughCommunity College installed a world-class 3D printing lab on its campus. The grantconnects academic programs with businesses to accelerate local economicdevelopment. Queensborough has launched over 100 projects in which students use 3D printing toprovide solutions to real-world problems. For example, Queensborough students arehelping New York hospitals and other major medical organizations achieve greaterpatient outcomes by printing 3D anatomical models and prototype custom surgicaltools. These parts help doctors increase the accuracy and speed of complex medicalprocedures and decrease patient recovery times.

To continue offering such unprecedented opportunities for students, Queensboroughhas acquired technology through the CUNY 2020 grant that will remain cutting edgefor years to come, including the Stratasys J750™ 3D Printer, which yields high-resolution models for design verification and ultra-realistic training models.
