On January 36, 1882, in Hyde Park,, New York, a child named after his uncle, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born to Sara Delano Roosevelt and James Roosevelt. As he
grew as an only child, he enjoyed collecting stamps and went to the Whitehouse and met the current president, Grover Cleveland.
After graduating from Groton, and while working as a reporter for the Harvard Crimson, Roosevelt attended Harvard University and received average grades, and later, in 1907 was hired by Carter, Ledyard, and
Millburn, Roosevelt was at this time living in Massachusetts living in a fashionable apartment. His beloved father died, of a severe heart attack, after Roosevelt graduated from Harvard. June 24, was the date of his graduation.
Franklin Roosevelt was Home schooled by his mother and tutors until the age 14 and as an outcast, attended Groton boarding school in Massachusetts. Prior to his graduation, in
1900, Roosevelt played on the worst team in school, the Bum Baseball Boys.
On March 17, 1905, given away by her Uncle, Theodore Roosevelt the current president, Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt were married. An odd match they honeymooned in Europe and later on had 6 kids. Franklin’s wife,
Eleanor and later on first lady, believed in equal rights for all and involved herself in volunteer work. During their marriage, Franklin had an affair with a woman named Lucy Mercer, but Eleanor stayed with FDR.

At the beginning of his ascension, FDR was appointed assistant secretary of the navy by Woodrow Wilson in 1913, then he was the Vice President nominee for the Democratic party, in 1920. After this big political step he was
diagnosed with polio after swimming in Campobello in 1921. Next, in 1928, FDR was elected governor of New York. Finally, in 1929 the stock market crashed and the Great Depression began.
In 1932, Franklin Roosevelt was elected, with 472 electoral votes, with his Vice President, John Nance Garner, and many great ideas to help his country get through the Depression, FDR created the New Deal. Roosevelt explained
the country’s problems on his fireside chats. During this time he passed the Emergency Banking Relief Act and the Work Progress Administration and in the end was elected four terms, the only president to be elected four terms.
President Herbert Hoover, our 31st president, nominated first ballot for the Republican party in a convention in Kansas City, Missouri, the one who signed the Star Spangled Banner, was elected in March 4, 1929
And served only one term. The Great Depression, which had started during his term, made Hoover a very unpopular president.
FDR had many ideas to help the U.S.A. in a group he called the New Deal that came into action in 1933, he helped unemployed Americans get through the Great Depression, thereby strengthening the worldwide economy.
He passed many laws that helped the United States get through the Great Depression.
