Presov Self-Governing Region

Presov Self- Governing Region is located in the northeastern part of Slovakia

it is the most populated of all regions and it is the second largest region by area

it is divided into 13 districts area: 8 974 km2 – (18.3% of the area of SR) and there are 660 villages

Spis castle Slovakia has a lot of castles. Certainly very popular is the

Spis castle. With its area (more than four hectars) is considered as one of the largest castles in Central Europe. In 1993 the castle with the surroundings was registered to the list of UNESCO. In May 2008 there was made a landscape sculpture which is representing the local symbol- a horse from Celtic coins.

Tatra National Park (TANAP) It is the oldiest national park in Slovakia. There is the

highest hill called the Gerlach hill and it is also the highest hill in Slovakia. There are more than 100 high mountain lakes. The biggest and the deepest is the Great Lake Hincovo. Every year is this park visited by almost 5 million visitors. There is also located the Botanical Garden - Exposition of Tatra nature which includes 270 kinds of tatra plants.

Red monastery This national cultural monument is popular by turists. It is

located near the community Red monastery in the Pieniny National Park. In history it was tenanted by monks. As museum it has been opened since 1993 after a total reconstruction. Since then it has a big amount of visitors who could aslo try the unforgettable floating by the rafts on the 9 km long Dunajec.
