Nut decors are in high demand and symbolize longevity and sustainability. The Sicam trade fair showed that there is a very positive momentum in the market and we are now very optimistic about the upcoming year." Michela Avancini, Design Schattdecor Italy: "In Italy, tradition and values are gaining ever more importance and stand-alone furniture is once again at the center of attention. Longevity, sustainability and individuality are keywords that spring to mind when talking about this topic, and we received plenty of positive feedback at the fair; especially regarding our trend topic Cultural Spirit." Thansau/Pordenone 10.21.2015 - The focus is shifting back to staging a precious piece, and Italy is going back to its roots. Consequently, the Schattdecor booth featured the 15/16 trends and was tailor-made to the requirements of the Italian market. There were three trend topics that were presented - CASUAL BLACK, FREESTYLE CLARITY and CUL- TURAL SPIRIT. Commenting on the enormous feedback received on the trend topic Cultural Spirit Michela Avancini, Head of Design at Schattdecor Italy, explains: "Values are regaining importance and Italy is returning to its roots and its tradition." Nut decors in warm shades are in high demand and symbolize the sustainability of inherited stand-alone pieces of furniture. According to Head of Sales Franco Lozza, also in southern Europe the focus is increasingly on the quality of the decors. "There is great demand for surfaces and new developments that set the ideal scene for the decor and enhance its haptic properties. An authentic overall picture is becoming ever more important!" The most sought after decor at the Sicam was Riviera Oak. With its warm honey tones and its Smartfoil Evo surface it confirmed the positive international feedback it already got at the Inter- zum. Further highlights were Noce Perenne in light and dark colors and the stone decor Paladina. In total, more than 17 thousand visitors from 96 different countries visited the industry fair in Por- denone, with visitors from abroad making up for35 percent.

TREND TOPIC CULTURAL SPIRIT

"Italy returns to its origins and roots" says Michela Avancini, Design Italy. With its warm shades of honey and its natural-looking wood structures, this trend is in line with the current Zeitgeist in southern Europe. The wood structures are more delicate and less rustic than in the past. There is a high demand for veneer-like wooden surfaces with a natural appearance. Decorations in CULTURAL SPIRIT place their focus on cultural artefacts from various sources, creating a feeling of individuality and personality.

Apart from the Interzum decor highlights, the Sicam trade fair showcased new developments for this trend topic and managed to reconfirm the claims of the trends of 15/16.

360 ° LAB BY SCHATTDECOR

Schattdecor’s product configurator is a sales tool which enables customers to see the whole range of themes and decors in a virtual setting of a modern loft. This space can be decorated according to the precise wishes of the customer. “Our 360 ° Lab is an important tool for customers during the decision making process,” says Franco Lozza. The product configurator developers are currently working on virtual shop scenes as well as a caravan interior. Once these have been added by the end of the year the product configurator will be distributed throughout the Schattdecor group. The Schattdecor booth at the Sicam featured a live view.

THE DEEP LONGING FOR AUTHENTICITY AND SELF-REALIZATION

Today consumers no longer define themselves by means of "traditional" socioeconomic factors such as age, sex, country of origin or income bracket, but in terms of interests, ideologies or a shared past. A deep longing for authentic, sensory experience, non-material values and self-realisation plays a central role. Consumer choices increasingly reflect a desire for self-expression and "the real thing", and this is having a significant effect – particularly on ourselves as individuals.

There is no denying the need to express one's personality, and the path to self-realization is a highly individual one. These days the way in which people shape their homes is reflecting their personality and interests to a greater extent than ever before. The blind pursuit of trends and furnishings that conform to convention is a thing of the past. The ease with which different opinions and ideas can be accessed on the internet is opening up new prospects and showing us that we can indeed be proud of our individual preferences and interests. Plus countless blogs enable us to share and pass on our unique ideas.

The day and age of dreary standard choices is truly over. Consumers are now able to select products that are a truer expression of their personality.

CASUAL BLACK

After a very long white phase in home furnishings, BLACK is the new white and "CASUAL" is the new luxury. The CASUAL BLACK style is classic, comfortable and tranquil.

What could be more classic than black? Black is bold, self-assured, elegant and mysterious. But above all, BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL!

Many people find self-realisation in their career and in professional success and thus have less need to spend time and effort on the decoration of their homes. Accordingly, they attach importance to a classic and tranquil style that provides an effortless feeling of well-being and casual cosiness. The new black is neither cold nor is it threatening. In living areas matte lacquer is lending black a more pleasant feel, with high-gloss surfaces playing a reticent role in stone, marble or polished concrete. Weathered oak, hickory or walnut decors in rich browns or dark greys are creating the perfect ambi-ence for withdrawal. Not scared of dark walls: Dark tones create a cosy and welcoming atmosphere, while warm metallic tones in the accessories bring the entire living area to life. Leather, wood and quality fabrics create an inviting effect.

The focus on quality in the furnishings creates a self-evident, laid-back look and it is precisely this that constitutes the CASUAL BLACK style.

CULTURAL SPIRIT

Typical boundaries between cultures are disappearing in these times of globalization. New technolo-gies are bringing us closer yet the cultural exchange involved is fostering a wish for a more grounded and tangible lifestyle.

No matter how fascinating digitisation may be, we long for a return of "real" relationships and au-thenticity. In view of the increasing virtuality of our everyday lives, family and community are shifting back into the focus of interest. Appreciation of high-quality materials stands for the rediscovery of a world that can be touched and felt in a sensuous experience. Pieces of furniture are deliberately cho-sen and individually staged. CULTURAL SPIRIT is making good use of interior design ideas from all world cultures. Living spaces are developing which do not allow one to draw any conclusions as to where or when they were created. Homes make an "untidy" impression here and there. This "lived-in" look creates a feel of cosiness within a setting featuring simple but high-quality materials. Moving, natural wood structures leave the impression that they are telling a story. Small details draw attention and support the eclectic flair. Warm wood hues create an inviting environment. Textiles are also an important style element. Rugs, throws and lambskins work together to give rooms a cozy atmosphere. The furnishings are stylish in impression and the carefully chosen objects tell stories of different cultures.

Decorations in CULTURAL SPIRIT place their focus on cultural artefacts from various sources, creat-ing a feeling of individuality and personality.

FREESTYLE CLARITY

The Freestyle Clarity mentality is based on the idea that life is a blank page just waiting to be written on. This trend reflects the increasing importance of simplicity and authenticity. Concentration on essentials is what counts – and as such is an important element of a better quality of life.

In an otherwise hectic world, open-plan spaces and a reduced style can have a calming effect. FREE-STYLE CLARITY creates order, enabling individual expression and interpretation without superfluous ballast. Black and white in clear contrast is timeless and contributes to an uncluttered look. Living in a pre-dominantly white environment does not have to be unimaginative or sterile, however – on the con-trary! Rather, it provides FREESTYLERS plenty of scope in shaping their homes. Scandinavian-looking furniture items in simple and practical geometric shapes go well with this theme. Heavy furniture would be out of place since lightness and variability determine the FREESTYLE CLARITY theme. Black and white forms the basis of the rooms. The light colors of pine, oak and beech wood make the rooms look more natural. Walls are equally restrained in color and tend towards greys or smoky pas-tels. Black and white graphic patterns liven up the interiors, and sombrely-veined marble sets ac-cents.

FREESTYLE CLARITY creates order, providing space for individual creative styling.

3) Riviera Oak

4) This decor is characterized by a very natural overall picture with many of the details which

are typical for oak trees; for example the very pronounced mirroring and medullary rays.

Striped and flowery areas alternate and produce a very subtle plank surface. Our Riviera

Oak decor is extremely suitable for colouring in classic and modern oak wood colors, start-

ing from very light and natural looking shades all the way through to honey shades or

dark, brown colors.

5) Stirling Oak

Stirling oak is very rustic with distinctively marked branches, tiny twigs and small flowers.

The wooden structure is characterized by its fine negative pores, stripy construction and

fine cracks.

6) Paladina

Marble has become a highly sought-after material, not only for interior design. This trend is

reflected in the fashion and accessories industry, where marble is increasingly used in eye-

catching features. Paladina is a vibrant stone reproduction which combines well with the

CASUAL BLACK theme on tabletops, working surfaces, furniture and wall panels to create

subtle highlights in a simple and elegant environment dominated by darker colours.

7) Noce Perenne

This fine walnut decor draws its authentic structure from a clever mother of pearl effect

which reflects the natural shimmer of this elegant material. The balanced layout marries

flowing flower effects with striking tree rings. Noce Perenne is just as powerful in modern

grey tones as it is in noble shades of intense brown.
