Change your life with a Journeys Hostel!

Whilst many hotels might have taken a hit during the economic downturn, business at youth hostels the world over has sky rocketed.

As budget conscious travellers tighten their belts

further, and waves of new tourists venture east from

economies such as the UK, Brazil and USA - youth

hostels all around the world remain packed to the

rafter’s year in, year out - and the budget

accommodation sector is predicted to experience

exponential growth in the next 10 years.

A survey taken in 2011 showed that 1 in 4 of all global travellers fell into the ‘backpacker &

Young person’ category. Compare this to the same survey in 2009 where only 1 in 5 fell into

this category, we can see a phenomenal increase in this area. We also know that

backpackers spend more, travel further and stay longer than the average traveller with an

average backpacker staying for 65 nights compared to the 26 nights of an average visitor.

As a Property Week writer remarked early last year,

“Despite their sometimes dubious reputation, hostels are undergoing a revival that is being

billed as the birth of a “revolutionary” new asset class for the property industry.”

Property Week, 21 January 2011

Journeys currently run 5 hostels in the UK and have always been looking at expanding

throughout the UK and onto the rest of the world. Journeys Hostels are a London based

company who are breaking boundaries by inviting applicant from almost any background to

partake in the hostel revolution. With the Journeys franchise, it’s never been easier to cash

in on this massively expanding market. By becoming a Journeys franchisee, you’ll join one of

the world’s fastest growing hostel and backpacker brands.

Besides a comprehensive offering of benefits, you’ll have a team of highly experienced and

devoted individuals behind you every step of the way that make sure that your hostel is

always functioning optimally and reaching its highest potential 24 hours a day, 365 days a

year. There has never been a better time to become part of this ever-growing industry as we

are currently in the middle of our global expansion.

We are looking for people with “un-usable” property, such as an area above a public house,

to convert its potential into profit and become a Journeys Hostel. Franchisee’s normally

come to us from one of two situations, those who have a suitable premise already or own a

freehold/lease on a pub, hotel or B&B, or those who want to get into this exciting and

profitable business but need our help to find the right property.

We provide our franchisee’s with fully comprehensive training, procurement services, global

sales, and the support of the Journeys Franchise Team of professionals. We also make a

promise to all our franchisee’s, if using Journeys’ systems and recommendations you fail to

achieve 70% occupancy level by the end of year one, we will return 100% of your franchise

fee. No ifs, no buts.

Being a franchisee means that you won’t have to spend time (and money) learning the ins

and outs of the hostel business. With a Journeys hostel franchise you’ll have all the

resources and experience needed to enter the hostel industry with a bang; and once you’ve

opened your doors to your international guests, you’ll have a team of highly experienced and

devoted individuals behind you every step of the way making sure that your hostel is always

functioning optimally and reaching its highest potential 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Our offer is for a five year franchise, renewable for an unlimited number of five year periods

without the need for any further franchise fees, so long as you operate within the normal

terms of the franchise agreement. This offer includes the agreement, the start-up package,

training and marketing support.

Hostel Investment in the Press:

“Journeys, aims to open 15 hostels throughout the UK in 2011 by converting disused buildings. Developer D’Rui Group, run by Dean D’Eye, renovates the buildings and then seeks franchise partners to run the hostels, many of which occupy redundant pubs, retaining a bar below with bedrooms above. Struggling landlords take note.”Property Week, 21 January 2011

“The recession has allowed the sector to come into its own right. Right now you have a bunch of buildings that are vacant and very difficult to develop. While the residential market is what most developers turn to when offices and retail projects fail, that is not possible at the moment as house building is at an all-time low. Hostels present an alternative use that is compelling”Josh Wyatt, Patron Capital’s director of leisure and hospitality
