COMPANY OVERVIEWElectro-Mech Engineering is a 100% citizen owned and managed furniture manufacturing company. The company was established in 1980 in Gaborone and has been supplying quality steel and wooden furniture products to the Botswana market for 37 years. We are driven by a dream to improve the lives of Batswana, and through our training policies, management style and corporate social responsibility we hope to nurture a culture of pride and passion for what we do.

Our product range includes beds, lockers, desks, tables, cabinets, kitchens, chairs, stools, benches, bulk filers and playground equipment. Over the past 37 years Electro-Mech Engineering has developed robust competencies in personnel and production methods comparable to international standards.

From its humble beginnings of 6 employees and only 200 sq. metres of workshop space in Broadhurst Industrial, EME has blossomed over the past four decades to become what is now the largest manufacturing facility of its type in Botswana. In 1991, Electro-Mech moved its operations to its newly built premises at Plot 22049 Gaborone West Industrial. The company currently operates all it activities from this factory.

EME has been a pioneer of furniture manufacturing in Botswana, demonstrated by our commitment to quality through our association with the Botswana Bureau of Standards and our involvement in developing Botswana’s first Furniture Standards (BOS 251-1, BOS 251-2, BOS 251-3, BOS 251-4, BOS 251-5, BOS 251-6 and BOS 295). EME was also the first Furniture Manufacturer in Botswana to become ISO9001 compliant (2006).

EME currently employs 37 personnel, 97% of which are Batswana.

PEOPLEBAGOGI SUPPORT GROUPBagogi Support Group was registered as a non-profit organisation in 2012 (Reg. No. CR 10231). It conducts the bulk of its activities from a humble centre located in Gakuto village near the northwestern outskirts of Gaborone city.

The group’s main objective is to provide holistic health rehabilitation services to people living with disabilities, mental illness and HIV/AIDS. Their emphasis is on people living with disabilities, who number close to 400 in and around Gakuto village and include young children and the elderly.

The centre provides accommodation and daily personal care to over 150 children, including numerous orphans and

elderly individuals. Additional home-based care programs, counseling, guidance and welfare monitoring services are also provided on an as-needed basis.

Neo Ramphala, the group’s coordinator and champion, approached EME for assistance in 2015. We took exception to her cause and were touched by her selfless efforts in keeping her concern going. With very humble and meager means, Neo and her team are able to feed more than 40 children and elderly people every single day. Through sheer determination, grit, and a gracious spirit they have created a secure and friendly home environment for those who previously had none. We tender-heartedly applaud Neo for her noble efforts and hope that her example will be a shining beacon for others to follow.
