DESCRIPTION

This Strategic Plan builds on the recommendations of Pride Toronto’s 2011 Community Advisory Panel (CAP) Report, led by Reverend Brent Hawkes. The CAP Report’s legacy includes tremendous improvements in Pride Toronto’s financial management, community engagement and commitment to leadership. We have enhanced our relationship with the trans* community, increased transparency and diversified programming. Now, as the meaning of Pride evolves, we re-examined our vision and goals in order to maintain our leadership as North America’s premier Pride event.

writes Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. We couldn’t agree more. We are excited to present our 2016–2021 Strategic Plan to set Pride Toronto’s goals into motion over the next five years. This plan will serve as the cornerstone of our decision-making process. It is a testament to how far we have come as an organization, what we have achieved, and our vision for the festival we aspire to become. The Strategic Plan was crafted with the benefit of spirited, informed feedback and careful reflection that challenged the way we see ourselves and inspires our dreams for the future.

The Board of Directors took this exercise very seriously.

Community consultation and input were essential to Pride Toronto’s Strategic Plan.

Our public forums allowed community members to share their ideas and provide third-party facilitators with open, honest feedback about the future of our festival.

During the main weekend of WorldPride, 1,500 participants completed surveys and ranked funding allocation priorities.

In 2015, our research team compiled vision and values opinions from more than 1,000 online surveys.

“A goal without a plan is just a wish”

Our new Executive Director has consulted with dozens of community leaders, non-profit workers, activists, labour representatives, politicians, key stakeholders, and members of the queer and trans* community.

Advice from Pride Toronto sta and volunteers was collected through a series of targeted interviews.

Through the Management Advisory Service, Pride Toronto worked with Dr. Bobby Siu to help set up the consultation process.

We will stay true to our political roots and anticipate the future needs of our community. We will honour our courageous past and celebrate how far we have come, as we look forward and remain vigilant to the challenges that lay ahead.
