WATCHING TV IS BAD FOR YOU

1. How often do you watch television? How much time do you spend watching TV? There can be a lot of problems if people watch too much TV. It can become a bad habit.

2. In Hong Kong, many people spend hours watching TV. In America, families have the TV on for about 7 hours a day, but parents talk to their children for less than 6 minutes a day.* Watching TV takes time away from doing more important things, like reading for fun, doing physical exercise, and talking to friends and family members. If children watch too much TV, they may not do their homework. 3. Watching too much TV can make our eyes tired and sore. It can keep us from having enough sleep. Sitting too close to the TV can give us harmful radiation.4. Some TV programmes are not good for young children to watch. For example, violent TV programmes can scare children and give them nightmares. Children are too young to know what is good and what is not good for them. They may do the bad things they see on TV. They may fight, use bad words and talk back to their parents because they see those things on TV.

5. Therefore, we must be very careful not to watch too much TV. Spending too much time watching TV can cause a lot of problems.
