Eating In or Out?Hong Kong is a hub of cuisine from

al l over the world. Thai, Russian,

Italian, French … you name it, this city

has it all. But which type of food has

the most fans?

According to a survey, Chinese food

tops the list of Hong Kong people’s

favourite food. More than 40% of the

interviewees say they like Chinese

food the most, followed by Japanese

cuisine and Thai food. (See Figure 1)

And where do Hong Kong people love

to have meals? Unexpectedly, only a

few choose to have meals at home.

Most of the interviewees answer that

they like dining out in small restaurants.

The number of people eating in fast

food shops is even more than those at

home. (See Figure 2)

Eating out has become a trend in

Hong Kong. It is the result of a better

economic environment and the

increasing number of small families.

Busy young couples think that cooking

is troublesome and time-consuming.

They prefer dining out to eating in.

Nutritionists advise that if people

eat out too often, they may become

overweight and have high blood

pressure or a bad circulation system.

To lessen the risk, have more fruit

and vegetables. Avoid fast food and

snacks.
