Questionnaire & The Results

Primary Research

Page 2: Primary research

My questionnaire consisted of 10 questions, and the answers were shortlisted in some questions, while some questions required the audience’s own written answers.Questionnaire

Favourite Colour

RedOrangeYellowGreenBluePurplePink

Question 1

The results show me that purple is the favoured colour among those listed. I wrote this question knowing I wanted to use a neon version of the chosen colour, so I will make a neon purple masthead, using pink to make it brighter if I must.

Word to Describe Pop/Dance Music

Question 2

The results include some obvious joke answers, but I included them to show some of the adversity faced when choosing this genre. The only word which was repeated was ‘fun’, so I will take this and try and incorporate the idea of fun into the magazine and how it’s designed.

How often do you listen to pop & dance music?

NeverEvery so oftenOnly at partiesQuite oftenAll the time

Question 3

The results show me that I should aim at the more casual listeners of pop/dance music, and that if I can I should try to convert non-listeners through my magazine, as it’s a big chunk of the potential audience.

Question 4

The results show me that artists like Lady Gaga and Calvin Harris are the most popular in my target audience, so I should aim towards the listeners of more electronic musicians such as those two.

Would you buy?

Yes NoId have to see the magazine

Question 5

The results show me that I would have to convince the majority of the audience into purchasing, meaning that I have to make my front cover as attention grabbing and unique as possible, without alienating too many people.

Aimed age group?

15-1816-2116-3018-30

Question 6

The results show me that I should aim for the 16-21 age group, which means producing a magazine that helps that age group to know it’s specifically for them. Therefore I will make sure the content is as relevant as possible and every article interests that age group.

Singer/band or DJ?

Singer/bandDJ

Question 7

The results show me that I should use a singer or a band to be on the front cover rather than a dj. This means that I should focus more on the pop side than dance, which helps me to pick the right articles and design to suit the audience's needs.

Question 8

The results show me that I would have to convince the majority of the potential audience to focus on my magazine, which goes with the previous results in saying that I have to make the content as relevant as possible.

How much to cost?

£2 or less£2 - £3£3 - £4£4 or more

Question 9

The results show me that I should make the magazine between £2 and £3. This means that I should aim the magazine at that group of people, rather than making it too posh or too simple.

Question 10

The results show me that I should make the amount of pictures and words equal, if not leaning slightly towards more pictures. This means that I have to put a lot of effort into my photography and make sure to connect it to the article, so the audience understands that design choice.
