Thank you I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Sue Buchanan who has been the Relieving Assistant Principal for the first two terms of this year. Mrs Julia White will be assuming the role of Relieving Assistant Principal from the beginning of Term 3.

NAIDOC Week NAIDOC Week celebrations were held at NHPS on Thursday 28th June. After much planning with Jane Donovan from the Jaaning Tree, parents and the Department of Aboriginal Affairs in Coffs Harbour, a wonderful day of celebration was organised. The day started with a special school Assembly with special guest Elders from Nambucca Heads and Kempsey, Aunty Emily Walker and Aunty Eileen Button. Each class visited our school Library to hear stories from Aunty Emily and Aunty

Eileen. Aunty Eileen had an interesting powerpoint presentation of paintings of her famous husband (dec) Robert

Campbell (Junior). Following the visit to our Elders, each class walked down to the Jaaning Tree

Restaurant for a Bush Tucker extravaganza. Everyone was thrilled by the Bush Tucker and wonderful atmosphere at the Jaaning Tree.

Students then went to the Hall to spend time with Ritchie Donovan playing Indigenous games. Ritchie was ably assisted by Mrs Fenning and Mr Katte. Students and staff had a most enjoyable time during their time with Ritchie! Parents and Community members joined their children at the Jaaning Tree.

Gigguy Gamambi Pre School and Nambucca Heads Pre School students and staff accompanied our Kinder students on the day of celebration. Students from Nambucca Heads High

School also assisted us on the day. NHPS would like to thank Aunty Emily, Aunty Eileen, Jane & Clayton Donovan and all parents and community members who joined us for our special day of celebration. We would also like to thank the Department of Aboriginal Affairs for their assistance with funding to support

our activities. Together we made a memorable experience for all involved and we are already planning for 2013!

Strengthening Family/Community Engagement in Student Learning There will be a valuable opportunity for parents and carers of students at NHPS early this Term. As you know we really appreciate and value your input into school matters and would like to get your opinion on a number of topics for our annual school evaluation. We intend to start with parent/carer attitudes to their engagement in Student Learning. I have been in touch with Vicki Ford, the North Coast Partnership Officer, who will come to NHPS to lead parents through this particular evaluation. We would appreciate as many parents/carers as possible to participate to inform us for future school improvement. Parents are our most valuable partner in the education of our students. Thanks in anticipation! Jenny Joske

State X-Country Good luck to Ella and Charlotte Williams who will compete at the State X-Country in Sydney on Friday.

School Sports Carnival The Annual School Carnival will be held next Friday 27th July. Notes were sent home today.

Rugby League Yesterday the Opens and Under 10’s Rugby League teams travelled to Advocate Park in Coffs Harbour to play in the annual Group 2 Rugby League Carnival. Both teams excelled in team sportsmanship, effort and enthusiasm. The muddy football jumpers soaking in my bathtub are evidence of their commitment.. I was very proud to see the boys compete. A massive thank you to Mr Katte for his ability to calculate the playing minutes and to the marvellous convoy of parents who made the trek north and provided transport for the boys to get there. Mrs Fenning
