2. The 7 Principles ofChange Managementfrom the life of an Eagle.Emulate these Principlesto succeed in ManagingChange in the2Competitive World. 3. 7 Principles of the Eagles are:1. EAGLE TESTS BEFORE IT TRUSTS.2. EAGLES PREPARE FOR CHANGE.3. EAGLES HAVE STRONG VISION.4. EAGLES DO NOT EAT DEAD THINGS.5. EAGLES FLY WITH EAGLES.6. EAGLES LOVE THE STORM.7. EAGLES SHED OFF OLD HABITS3 4. 1. EAGLE TESTS BEFORE ITTRUSTSThe Eagle tests before it trusts. When a female eagle(there is the myth that this is called the falcon) meetsa male and they want to mate, she flies down to earthwith the male pursuing her and she picks a twig. Sheflies back into the air with the male pursuing her.Once she has reached a height high enough forher, she lets the twig fall to the ground and watches itas it falls. The male chases after the twig. The faster itfalls, the faster he chases it. He has to catch it beforeit falls to the ground. He then brings it back to thefemale eagle.4 5. 1. EAGLE TESTS BEFORE ITTRUSTS contd Again, the female eagle grabs the twig and flies to a higher altitude and then drops the twig for the male to chase. This goes on for hours, with the height increasing until the female eagle is assured that the male eagle has mastered the art of catching the twig which shows commitment. Then and only then, will she allow him to mate with her. Lesson 1 : Whether in private life or in business, one should test commitment of people intended for partnership.5 6. 1. EAGLE TESTS BEFORE IT TRUSTS ..contd6 7. 2. EAGLES PREPARE FORCHANGEWhen ready to lay eggs, the female and male eagleidentify a place very high on a cliff where no predatorscan reach. The male flies to earth and picks thornsand lays them on the crevice of the cliff, then flies toearth again to collect twigs which he lays in theintended nest. He flies back to earth and picks thornslaying them on top of the twigs. He flies back to earthand picks soft grass to cover the thorns. When thisfirst layering is complete the male eagle runs back toearth and picks more thorns, lays them on the nest;runs back to get grass it on top of the thorns, then7plucks his feathers to complete the nest. 8. 2.EAGLES PREPARE FORCHANGE8 9. 2. EAGLES PREPARE FOR CHANGE ..contd The thorns on the outside of the nest protect it from possible intruders. Both male and female eagles participate in raising the eagle family. She lays the eggs and protects them; he builds the nest and hunts. During the time of training the young ones to fly, the mother eagle throws the eaglets out of the nest. Because they are scared, they jump into the nest again. Next, she throws them out and9then takes off the soft layers of the 10. 2. EAGLES PREPARE FOR CHANGE .. contdWhen the scaredeaglets again jump intothe nest, they arepricked by thorns.Shrieking and bleedingthey jump out again thistime wondering why themother and father wholove them so much aretorturing them.10 11. 2. EAGLES PREPARE FOR CHANGE .. contdNext, mother eaglepushes them off the cliffinto the air. As theyshriek in fear, fathereagle flies out andcatches them up on hisback before they falland brings them back tothe cliff. This goes onfor sometime until theystart flapping their11wings. They get excited 12. 2. EAGLES PREPARE FOR CHANGE .. contdThe preparation of the nest teaches us toprepare for changes; the preparation for thefamily teaches us that active participation ofboth partners leads to success; the beingpricked by the thorns tells us that sometimesbeing too comfortable where we are mayresult into our not experiencing life, notprogressing and not learning at all. The thornsof life come to teach us that we need to12grow, get out of the nest and live on. We may 13. 2. EAGLES PREPARE FOR CHANGE .. contdLesson 2: The people who loveus do not let us languish in slothbut push us hard to grow andprosper. Even in their seeminglybad actions they have goodintentions for us.13 14. 3. EAGLES HAVE STRONG VISION Eagles have strong vision. They have the ability to focus on something up to five kilometers away. When an eagle sights his prey, it narrows the focus on it and sets out to get it. No matter the obstacles, the eagle will not move its focus from the prey until it grabs the prey. Lesson 3 : Have a vision and remain14 focused no matter what the obstacle and you will succeed. You cant hit a target 15. 3. EAGLES HAVE STRONG VISION15 16. 4.EAGLES DO NOT EAT DEAD THINGS.Eagles do noteat deadthings. Theyfeed only onfresh prey.Vultures eatdead16carcasses, but 17. 4. EAGLES DO NOT EAT DEAD THINGS.Lesson 4 : Becareful with whatyou allow youreyes to see andears tohear, especiallyin, other peoplessmall talks moviesand on TV. Steerclear of outdatedand oldinformation. Alwaysdo your research17well. Cynics, bad- 18. 5. EAGLES FLY WITH EAGLES OR ALONE18 19. 5. EAGLES FLY WITH EAGLES OR ALONE contdEagles fly alone at high altitude and not withsparrows or other small birds. No other birdcan go to the height of the eagle.Eagles fly alone at high altitude and not withsparrows or other small birds. No other birdcan go to the height of the eagle.Lesson 5: Stay away from Chicken, sparrowsand other Birds. Just fly with other Eagles onlyor alone! Do you know what Martin LutherKing Jr said?"If a man hasnt discoveredsomething that he will die for, he isnt fit to19live." - 20. 5. EAGLES FLY WITH EAGLES OR ALONE .. contd20 21. 6.EAGLES LOVE THE STORM21 22. 6.EAGLES LOVE THE STORM contd Eagles love the storm. When clouds gather, the eagles get excited. The eagle uses the storms wind to lift it higher. Once it finds the wind of the storm, the eagles uses the raging storm to lift him above the Clouds. This gives the eagle an opportunity to glide and rest its wings. In the meantime, all the other birds hide in the leaves and branches of the trees. Lesson 6 : We can use the storms of life to rise to greater heights. Achievers relish challenges and use them profitably. All problems in the world have solutions! Rock the boat if need be. Create a situation of controversy and challenge and avoid convenience and comfort, that is the22 measure of a man Martin Luther King Jr. said 23. 7 EAGLES SHED OFF OLD HABITS When an Eagle grows old, his feathers become weak and cannot take him as fast as he should. When he feels weak and about to die, he retires to a place far away in the rocks. While there, he plucks out every feather on his body until he is completely bare. He stays in this hiding place until he has grown new feathers, then he can come out. Lesson 7 : We occasionally need to shed off old habits and items that burden us without adding23 value to our lives. Watch the following slide Re- 24. Re-birth: The story of the Eagle24 25. The eagle has the longest life-span of25 its species 26. It can live up to 70 years. But to reachthis age. The eagle must make a harddecision.26 27. In its 40sIts long and flexible talons can nolonger grab prey which serves as food27 28. Its long and sharp beak becomes bent.28 29. Its wings are old and heavy wings. Dueto the thick feathers that have grownthey become stuck to its chest andmake in inefficient to fly.29 30. Then, the eagle is left with only two options: # 1 To die.# 2.To go through a painful process of change30which lasts 150 days. 31. The process requires that the eagle fly to a mountain top and lies on its31Death-Bed. Reconcile yourself with 32. Of course the Eagle to takes a risk forthe sake of surviving. Therefore theeagle knocks its beak against a rockuntil it plucks it out Because death is the best invention of life.32 33. After plucking beak out. The eagle likelizard will wait for the beak toregenerate and then it will use the beakpluck out its talons.33 34. Also when the new talons have grown back, the eagle starts plucking its feathers. Its a bloody painful process34 and lies their naked. 35. And after five months. The eagle takes the famous FLIGHT OFREBIRTH andlives for 30 more years.35 36. Quotation from the Bible Isaiah, Cap 40 verse 31: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.36 37. Parting shotWill you be an Eagle or other Birds? Many times, in order to survive youhave:To start a change process. To get rid of old memories, habitsand other past traditions. Only freedfrom past burdens, can we takeadvantage of the present.37
