Accommodating a family of four comfortably in this 970-square-foot,

four-room HDB flat unit is no easy task. But designer John Kow from Rhiss Interior not only utilised space effectively to allow each family member sufficient space, he also furnished the home with a touch of stylish glamour that’s perfectly balanced with an air of effortless simplicity.

flooring covers the flooring of the public zones, and the feature wall hosting the TV is dressed with a laminate panel bearing marble grain patterns. Together with strips of tinted brown mirrors and hi-sheen flooring, the space becomes significantly larger.

For design continuity, the dining table features a marble table top and together with plush dining chairs and an elegant hanging lamp, the dining area oozes a classy vibe. Also, full-length clear mirrors line the dining area’s wall to create the illusion of spaciousness.

Maximising the space in the sleeping areas is the main focus, and John certainly achieved that. For the son’s bedroom, a movable divider separating

the walk-in wardrobe from the main sleeping quarter helps demarcate the space while offering versatility. Since the divider can be moved to close off the wardrobe entirely, more floor space can be made

available when required.As for the daughter’s

bedroom, the bed is hoisted on a platform that offers generous amounts of storage space. Apart from pull-out drawers along the side,

lift-up boards within the platform base also offer much concealed storage space. This multi-purpose feature allows the bedroom to maintain a clutter-free and restful environment.
