Process description

1n an industrial hydrodesulfuri#ation unit, such as in a refinery, the

hydrodesulfuri#ation reaction takes place in a fixedbed reactor at elevated

temperatures ranging from 3'' to *'' 4 and elevated pressures rangingfrom 3' to 53' atmospheres of absolute pressure, typically in the presenceof a catalyst consisting of an alumina base impregnated with cobalt and

molybdenum $usually called a o6o catalyst&! Occasionally, a combinationof nickel and molybdenum $called 7i6o& is used, in addition to the o6o

catalyst, for specific difficulttotreat feed stocks, such as those containing ahigh level of chemically bound nitrogen!
