Last Walk – Hunters Hill Circuit - 23rd July 2018

The walk was attended by 17 members, on a beautiful Sydney Winter’s day. We took the ferry to Woolwich and

inspected Woolwich Dock. There were great views of Cockatoo Island and the Parramatta River, then we passed

through Kelly’s Bush and met a group of ladies removing weeds from the bush area as a community project. We

crossed the Peninsula to the Lane Cove River side with more good views and expensive homes to see, and then

back to the wharf for the journey home.

Next Walk – Lewisham to Lilyfield - 27th August 2018.

Walk from Lewisham West to Lilyfield on local streets and through a number of reserves. You will see historic buildings, walk through scenic bushland and enjoy waters views.

Contact: Ian Hosie Mobile 0439 467 565

Travel: 8:06am Airport Line train from Leumeah to Central, light rail from Central to Lewisham.

Walking Distance: About 5.5km – 2.5hrs

Grade: Medium. A relatively flat walk with some undulating terrain on sealed paths shared with cyclists.

Coffee/Lunch: Coffee at Central Railway Station. Lunch is at a venue at walker’s discretion.

As we walk for several hours, you need to be reasonably fit and be able to maintain a steady walking pace. Make

sure you have a hat and sunscreen, plus carry and consume sufficient water to avoid dehydration.

Garden Appreciation Barb and Wim Reyntjes

It’s time to emerge from the winter hibernation!!

Despite the chilly mornings, there are signs that Spring is around the corner. The birds in our garden are having

punch-ups over territory rights and the bulbs in our garden are shooting, indicating that flowers are not too far

away. Some of our azaleas are already flowering.

The last time we planned to go to Grevillea Park at Bulli, heavy rain kept us at home. Time to try again.

Grevillea Park at Bulli is open only a few days each year, with the next two weekends being at the start of Sep-

tember. We will be going on Saturday 8th September. Delving into the archives, there are photos of our last Spring

visit dated 5th September 2015. Where did that time go!

Date: Saturday 8th September. Leave from Catholic Club carpark at 9:30 am.

We will travel by car, stopping at the Bulli Information Centre for coffee. Car pooling is available. Grevillea Park

has both formed and sealed paths, generally level with some moderately sloping sections. Toilets are available on

site. Entry is $5 .

For lunch, we will proceed to Woonona-Bulli RSL, a few minutes drive away. Hope to see you there.
