MAAP a project of AMSOUP is established in 1998 in Mariveles Bataan and provides scholarships to Filipino high school graduates for a rewarding seafaring career. In 1999 , started MAAP operations

Background and Rationale

(NATIONAL ) On July 4-5, 2002 MAAP spearheaded the Development of Maritime Research Networking in the 1st MET National Congress with the theme “Towards a More Responsive and Effective Philippine Maritime Education and Training” at Manila Midtown Hot Conducted follow-meetings with 17 various MET stakeholders and validated 2 issues on research constraints : Budget and lack of capability ( similar at MAAP ( SWOT analysis for planning)

First AUNP Grantholders Meeting

Held in UP Diliman , Aug 23-26,2005 MAAP thru Dr Baylon represented

the project partners (PMMA, UPC and SMA) as per nomination by SIRC,UK

20 funded projects among 102 EU & ASEAN universities with only 6 participating HEIS in the Philippines, MAAP,PMMA, UP, DLSU, ATENEO, ST Louise & LSU

promoted & increase intra-ASEAN university cooperation & institutional linkages and networking between ASEAN and EU

CONCLUDING REMARKS • SY 1999-2002 – MAAP Level for Research program

etc and capability building in MAAP. Opportunity to present abroad was also provided. MAAP led MARENET and had identified issues/constraints in doing research similar to MAAP when SWOT analysis was done

• SY 2003-2005 - MAAP linked with International to

address issues and concerns and hosted international conferences to provide venue for networking with compatriots

• SY 2006-to 2009 - MAAP continuously link with

international agencies to sustain academic sustainability and competitiveness and conducted a Regional and National forum for possible collaborative projects within the region and has the intention to link co-maritime schools with international project partners for global competitiveness.
