Student mobility programFour week practical placement of undergraduate students from FEEN at partner institutions

7 students at University of Dortmund (realized) 4 students at TEI Athens (realized) 4 students at FNSM Skopje (ongoing)

Program is evaluated as “an example of good practice” by NTO for Serbia and Montenegro. Student mobility program will be presented at DAAD-Bologna Conference in Bonn, March 17th 2005.

Innovations in teaching (formal approach)

New topics involved in more than 20 different coursesFive completely new courses (first delivered for the first time in winter semester 2003/04, others in winter semester 2004/05) are involved in current curricula at Faculty of Electronic Engineering, University of Nis:

Software Engineering Embedded systems Mobile and wireless services Software design using design patterns Databases – advanced techniques

Work on reconstructing CS courses and involving new courses in existing CS curriculum initiated the work on draft version of new CS curriculum and ECTS implementation. First proposals have already been discussed.

Key successes - ProceedingsProceedings of Workshops on Computer Science Education The Proceedings describes the impact of new fundamentals on undergraduate CS engineering courses at all five participating academic institutions of our joint project during the first two years of this project. Six Workshops and two Symposiums in two years. In total, 120 presentations, and 164 participants from 15 different academic institutions take active parts during the preparation of the material and numerous discussions related to presentation of the achieved results of our joint project. 35 papers passed the referee procedure for publication in this special issue PROCEEDINGS. The contributed papers were divided into six sessions, on innovations curriculum, lab practicing, teaching tools, Internet technologies, Mathematics in computer science, and selected topics.

Key successes - New teaching environment

What does it mean?a) New labs with new equipmentb) Using modern multimedia teaching

toolsc) Web support to teaching

Page 21: Prof. dr Mile Stoj čev Faculty of Electronic Engineering, University of Nis

Skopje, 16. February 2005

a) New labs with new equipmentWhat did we do?

Two new teaching labs were established with one server and 16 PC workstations each.

New digital projectors are at Computer Science Department teaching staff disposal.

Lab practical classes from more than twenty different courses are delivered in these Labs.

Page 22: Prof. dr Mile Stoj čev Faculty of Electronic Engineering, University of Nis

Skopje, 16. February 2005

b, c) MTT + Web support Modern teaching tools are applied at teaching Important innovations relate to using and

developing original multimedia teaching tools (SimArch for Computer Architectures, Intelligent Tutoring System for Databases, Simulators for Computer Networks).

A lot of teaching material has been prepared for Web publication

E-Forum for discussion about proposals for new CS curriculum has been initiated (http://cs.elfak.ni.ac.yu/forum/).

Why is the site so important? Why is the site so important?1. We announce incoming events on the site. 2. We inform our colleagues about the

project.3. The site contains a lot of presentations with

high quality academic contents.4. Follow-up, for each event, is available on

the site.5. The site provides information about the

status of the project.6. The site is an open report for the

Commission.
