Since 2014 I have been producing a small range of design outcomes that I have marketed in different ways. I am always working on new independent artworks and outcomes and so have a line of products that is always growing. In the future I would like to expand my reach and continue creating new work, whilst also providing freelance design expertise and collaborating with others. I am truly contented when I am drawing and designing, and so I think it’s important for me to continue doing it as an outlet, as practice, and if I can tap into a larger market that appreciates the style of work then that’s even better as it will help fund and further my experience and capabilities. Some work that I have produced and sold so far Includes: Real Imagination is a book about the illusory nature of our perceptions, consciousness and the physical world. Its contents is inspired by my enthusiasm for physics, philosophy and the oddities of nature. It provides examples of compelling visual illusions, mind bending thought experiments and inherently unexplainable laws of existence. The book is fully illustrated with interesting and explanatory images and drawings. Many pages also QR link to digital media in order to provide a basis for further exploration of the subjects being discussed. I spent a couple of months producing the outcome, gathering interesting research and developing all the artwork. In the future I would really like to expand upon what I have written. Creating a more comprehensive, Illustrative and complete outcome that could eventually be fit for a wider market. (ISBN 9781326281199)
I have also done a range of illustrative posters that stem from my love of pattern colour and shadow. I spend anywhere from a few days to 2 months creating an outcome and then get a number of prints made for sale on my website and from me personally. I also put some artworks on redbubble.com where they sell you artwork to customers on whatever product they want. Mugs, T-shirts, Stickers, the works. This has proved an effective way of turning a small profit.
As I leave uni my focus is to build my marketing skills and fully identify my target market. Thinking of new ways of advertising promoting and growing my brand. Whilst also aiming to gather some paid freelance work off the back of it and increase my networking.

LUCIDITY MUSIC VISUAL IDENTITY

The Breif:Lucidity will be responsible for promoting artists in the field of electronic music. Mainly drum and bass we but welcome other genres . We will be working directly with crooked records (Alex’s record company). He will be producing us (Jonny and myself) with artists material, which we will promote on our channel. We already have some material for the channel. But we need a logo and a video background with the logo included in the design before we go public. We will go public when this is sorted and when we have 5+ more videos on our channel. Artists will be able to email us content and will we will scanning Soundcloud for unsigned artists who wish to have their music promoted. The logo;We leave the creativity of the design in your hands. The logo needs to able to fit inside the Youtube channels icon (800x800 pixels). We would prefer deeper and richer colours to be used as the main colours with hints of brighter colours if desired. We would like the logo to be futuristic and well defined. Shapes are up to the artists preference. We would also like the incorporate the meaning of the word lucidity inside the design. If you require any examples of work we like please ask. The background; We would like the logo to be the main focus of the background, therefore placed in the centre. Again the same goes with the colour choices. Something world of space themed would be great.
So, I set out to tackle the project, using some stock images, fonts and illustrations that I had created previously, I came up with a general visual aesthetic that I thought would fit the bill well. Being a fan of drum and bass / electronic music I had a relatively in depth knowledge of what current related art and design was out there. Charlie loved the feel of the initial visuals and was satisfied for me to develop it into a proper logo and visual precedent for the background production and any further design work.

Maintaining a similar visual aesthetic to what we decided on I drew up a highly symbolic picture. The figure is blinded but a centre eye shows the minds eye is awake. Symbolising a state of “lucidity”. Hands laced with wires feed a twirling cable into an ethereal set of speakers, and sound-waves pour from a skull adorned with circuitry showing the connection to electronic music and hinting at the focused and altered state it can bring on. The background is a highly stylized supernova explosion. Linking the notions of music, mind and matter.

This mock-up shows a “circular node” design, that is simple to follow and connects the two process charts, whilst distinguishing between day 1 and day 2. Each circular node could
house text or an illustration, showing a decision to be made or a
procedure to be undertaken. The mock up only shows a basic
outline of what I intend to create.
This more developed mock-up of the SAU process shows how I might go forward with this design. Some text would be replaced with hand drawn
illustrations that would be designed to maintain a graphic style throughout both process charts (HOT clinic and
SAU)
This circular mock up process chart is visually attractive. The process is easy to
follow and the design can be elaborated on in a number of ways, including illustrations
or simple text descriptions.
This mock-up usesoctagonal tiling in order
to communicate itsmessage, it might be
slightly more difficult to follow than my other mock ups however the
design is interesting and is worth a look in.
My final mock-up uses rectangular tiling, this is very much a rough
representation of what could be created, but shows the basic idea.
When working at the university someone from another wing of the department picked up a copy of my book. I wasn’t around at the time but he later came to me and said that he loved the book and wondered if I could do some design work for use in the JR hospital. I started the project in Oxford, and finished it whilst in Bristol (conveniently as the client also lived here.)
We discussed the brief In around four meetings and a continued correspondence through email. After taking me through some current basic flow charts the client asked me to create some flowcharts that were more informative and visually appealing. I began by supplying some layout ideas that offered more than a simple left to right progression, and although they thought the circular design was the most visually engaging. It was imperative that the flow was easily understandable. We eventually settled on a colour coded 3 tiered flow diagram, complete with illustrations and labels. The university expressed their thanks for my help in person and through email.

Jamie,That’s great. Thanks for your work on this and attention to detail, we’re really pleased. Next step is to get feedback from the hospital. On this note there is a possibility that they will wish to make further changes (will be in the New Year now). No more changes were needed and the project was wrapped up successfully.

When working at the university I undertook a number of creative tasks producing promotional material for staff events. I was at the university for 4 years and some of my memorable creations were events posters and ephemera. Most of the design work took place digitally, utilising adobe programs to create prominent and memorable design outcomes.

Making promotional material is something I have done for a
number of clients. This one required advertising visuals and a direct
message. In order to engage and inform. Through my research I
pieced together an aesthetic theme reminiscent of 80’s disco style. The
poster also lent its theme to the ticket, in order to form a complete
visual message.

Dear Sir/Madam,I can confirm that Jamie has been working within our codes of practice and protocols during his time at the Image Works.During this period, he has also experienced the various aspects of the services we offer, and followed the work-flow of the business. In addition, he has provided some practical help with some of the creative work in progress. He has also been set a communications task, and proved to be adept at not only taking and understanding the brief, but delivering some interesting and thoughtful solutions.
Jamie is a pleasant and outgoing young man. With continued application, enthusiasm and support I have no doubt he will develop his creative skills into a worthwhile career.
Kind regards,Andy Cooke 1 Red House Farm, Oxford
During my HND study I undertook a two week work experience at Imageworks in Oxford. Whilst
there I took part in meetings, did some editorial design and created the company Halloween
letterhead using a provided style guide .This was fulfilling because it showcased my compositional,
editorial and hands on skills and allowed me to work creatively within a certain parameters. The experience overall helped to guide my
thoughts on a future career. It helped me realise that working for an agency is not necessarily
something I want to do, and that actually I feel like I would be more enthusiastic as a freelancer.
The email to the right verifies my time at Imageworks.

When designing this informational booklet I had to stick to a strict style guide throughout, whilst providing clear and unique graphic depictions and a professional layout The project surprised me as I really enjoyed it proving to me that editorial design can be enjoyable and highly rewarding. I learned a lot in this project about maintaining a corporate identity and creating strong supporting material.

This project concerned the creation of an entire visual identity for the theatre company, this
included logos, letter heads, merchandise and visual aesthetics. I catered to the clients need for a formal look and style whilst maintaining an air of creativity. I had meetings with representatives of the company and pitched my ideas to a panel of
them before they gave me feedback on my work.

The publication brief was a short project undertaken in response to the book “the medium

Marshall McLuhans book explores a philosophical
approach to technology media and the consumer.Where he looks media’s effect on the mind, My
