PROGRAM FOR APRIL

This month our program for Guild will presented by Marci Baker. Marci is recognized internationally for her expertise in quilting. She enjoys sharing ideas that simplify the process of quilting. She began teaching quiling in 1989 for her local quilting guild and shops. Marci graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in math. PROGRAM FOR APRIL cont. from page 1

Marci spends much of the year traveling, teaching classes for quilting guilds and trade shows. Some of Marci’s travels include Canada and Brazil. En-thusiasm and inspiration for quilting can be seen through her lectures, workshops, and books. She has been featured in Redbook, on Home and Gar-den TV’s “Simply Quilts”, Quilters’ News Net-work, NBC’s “The Jane Pauley Show”, highlight-ed in “Traditional Quiltworks”, and has been pub-lished in numerous quilting magazines’. Marci has been nominated for the Professional Quilter Magazine’s “Teacher of the Year” award in 2002 and 2005. In 2006, she expanded Alicia’s Attic by purchasing Clearview Triangle from Sara Neph-ew. They continue to collaborate on new design and techniques. All of these ideas have been brought together under on name as “Quilt with Marci Baker”. The title for Marci’s program is entitled “A Little

Girls Dream with a Foundation Piecing Twist”. From her first quilt she made for her Barbie doll at the age of 9 to making her ribbon winning quilts, Marci shares projects in various stages of comple-tion to encourage quilters of all levels. This down-to-earth presentation of some never–to-be-finished projects, some “maturing” projects, and, of course, those that are complete will help you find satisfaction and joy in your projects. With an added twis,t discover the fun and freedom of foun-dation piecing (commonly referred to as paper piecing). This unique and quick method ensures correct placement without wasted fabric. This is the easiest method ever. Come and see some simply amazing quilts and demos that show they are amazingly simple!!

Tips For The Month

Remove lint from your rotary cutter that builds up between the blade and the sheath of the cutter. Carefully wipe the blade and the sheath with a clean cloth and add a drop of sewing machine

oil where the blade lies next to the front sheath. Try this before changing blades to see if there is an im-provement in cutting.

Remove line from the bobbin case of your sewing machine to keep it running smoothly. Too much

lint will also cause reverse not to work. A good time to oil the bobbin case is when you remove lint. Also remember to change your sewing machine needles frequently. Daisy
