Murska Sobota is not only administrative, economic, socio-political and cultural centre of the region of Pomurje but also central town at the junction of four countries, Slov-enia, Austria, Hungary and Croatia.As a town Murska Sobota was first mentioned in the 12th Century in that it was in the 20th Century that it really started to prosper. The town, well-known for its multi-cul-tural cohabitation and tolerance strives to take advantage of its position at the melting pot of three great cultures and to turn it into competitive advantage which should give the sunny town, located in the immediate neighbourhood of thermal wells and sur-rounded by the peace and quiet of the Prekmurje flatland rounded off by the Goričko hills on the one side and the Mura River on the other side, ample possibility and op-portunity for a long-lasting progress of not only the town itself but also the broader region. 21. oktober 2011 – 31. maj 2012 v Pomurskem muzeju Murska Sobota.

Razstava Tü mo pripoveduje zgodbo o slovanskih prišlekih, ki so se v drugi polovici 6. stoletja naselili na poljih južno od Murske Sobote in tam osta-li. Zanamcem so pustili sled spomina bivanja v skromnih ostalinah, ki so prekrite z zemljo stoletja čakale, da jih odkrije lopata arheologa. Odkopa-ne zemljanke, peči, vodnjaki, gospodarski objekti in grobišča ter predvsem značilne zgodnjeslovanske lončenine so ključni za razumevanje slovanske naselitve. Pridobljeno gradivo je izjemno ter predstavlja novost v razisko-vanju in poznavanju slovanskega obdobja v širšem slovenskem prostoru.

The exhibition Tü mo tells the story of Slavic newcomers who, during the late 6th Century A.D., colonized the fields south of the present-day town of Murska Sobota and decided to stay there. They have left us, their descend-ants, traces of modest relics to remind us of their having lived there and these relics, covered up with soil, have waited for centuries on end to be uncovered by the picks and shovels in the hands of archaeologists.

The unearthed earth cabins, ovens, wells, outhouses and burial grounds and, most of all, the characteristic early Slavic earthenware are instrumen-tal as regards the proper understanding of Slavic colonization. The acquired material is truly exceptional and is a real breakthrough in reseraching and understanding of the Slavic era in the broader Slovenia‘s territory.

To commemorate the twentieth anniversary of Slovenia‘s war for independance a documentary has been made bringing eye-witness accounts of thirty-eight people from the Prek-murje and Prlekija who had taken active part in the said war. It features never-before-shown wartime footage of the town of Gornja Radgona which has, during the siege of its border checkpoint, suffered the most damage of the north-eastern part of Slovenia.The town of Murska Sobota, on the other hand, has been the first Slovenian town which has, after World War Two, suffered a missile air-raid. It was due to the negotiations, taking place in front of the army barracks on the edge of Murska Sobota, initiated by a local lady, that the town was spared the fate of Gornja Radgona.The said documentary is the first extensive presentation of the events taking place in the region on the Mura River dur-ing the said war, putting into proper prespective the role of not only the local police and the members of Territorial De-fence but also of the then officials of the local municipalities and, last but not least, the numerous volunteers.

Ob dvajsetletnici osamosvojitvene vojne v Sloveniji je bil posnet dokumentarni film s pričevanji 38 akterjev vojne na območju Prekmurja in Prlekije. V ospredju prvič pred-vajanih vojnih posnetkov je Gornja Radgona, mesto, ki je ob zasedbi mejnega prehoda utrpelo največ materialne škode v severovzhodni Slovenji.

Murska Sobota pa je bila prvo po drugi svetovni vojni iz zraka raketirano mesto. Da pomursko središče ni doživelo usode Gornje Radgone, je posledica pogajanj pred vo-jašnico, do katerih je prišlo na žensko pobudo.

Dokumentarni film je doslej edini prikaz vojnih dogodkov v pokrajini ob Muri in osvet-ljuje vlogo, ki so jo imeli predstavniki milice in teritorialne obrambe ter takratni občin-ski funkcionarji in prostovoljci.

Umetniška skupina à la fetish bo s pro-jektom Digitalna klasika vse dvomljiv-ce prepričala, kako zelo dobra je lahko nenavadna združitev klasične glasbe z elektronskimi ritmi. Z nastopom go-dalnega kvarteta v živo ob spremljavi mojstra za mešalno mizo bo avtorska glasba v intimnem okolju grajskega dvorišča, podkrepljena z vrhunskimi plesnimi nastopi in bogatimi vizuali-jami, zazvenela v vsej svoji veličini in prikazala, da sta lahko še tako naspro-tujoči si glasbeni zvrsti nadvse harmo-nični.

Through the project Digital Classics the group of artists a la fetish is going to try to show all the doubters how very well a somewhat odd marriage of clasi-cal music with electronic rhythms can work. A live performance by a string quartet accompanied by a skillful mas-ter behind a mixing console, in the in-timate setting of the castle patio and emphasized by a top-notch dancing performance, the music is going to ring in all its majestic beauty, showing that even so very contradictive music forms can turn out to be very harmonious.

The entire project has been designed as a multi-layered project featuring the PomurjeMuseum of Murska Sobota not only as the carrier of historical memory but also as the guardian of ideas and artefacts which, through the activity on the part of the muse-um, have established a set of values which generates new development; its contents are based upon the development of the largest clothing industry in central Europe which has introduced, in the predominantly rural area, not only contemporary design in the field of clothing culture and media communication but also new trade marks. The Mura clothing factory has united the area with the help of contemporary fashion trends whereby it presents itself as a kind of social framework which has affected the population of the area and created the basis for new deliberations as regards one‘s own identity as well as regards the establishment of progress goals.

Projekt je zasnovan kot večplastni projekt, s katerim se muzej predstavlja kot nosilec zgodovinskega spomina, kot skrbnik predmetov in idej, ki z delovanjem muzeja posta-jajo vrednote, iz katerih generira novo dogajanje. Vsebino gradi na razvoju največje konfekcijske industrije v srednji Evropi, ki je v pretežno ruralni prostor prva prinesla sodobno oblikovanje na področju oblačilne kulture in medijskega komuniciranja ter nove blagovne znamke. Mura je Mursko Soboto in regijo povezovala s sodobnimi mod-nimi trendi ter predstavlja enega tistih socialnih okvirjev, ki se je dotaknil vseh in iz katerega se dá zgraditi nove razmisleke o lastni identiteti in razvojnih ciljih.

12. maj 2012 v mestnem parku.Od 30. junija do 2. septembra vsako soboto na Trgu kulture in vsako nedeljo ob 10.00 v mestnem parku.

Projekt Moje mesto nagovarja predvsem najmlajše in mlade. Dogajanje bo popestrilo življenje v mestu ter mu vdihnilo ustvarjalnega in navdihujočega duha. Številni dogod-ki, ki se bodo odvijali od junija do septembra, bodo na različnih mestnih prizoriščih. Ob poletnih sobotnih dopoldnevih se bo na Trgu kulture odvijal glasbeno-gledališki umetniški program, ob nedeljskih dopoldnevih pa bomo v parku prirejali ustvarjalne delavnice. Uvod v razgibano poletno dogajanje bo Družinski piknik v mestnem parku.

Vse z namenom, da bi nas umetnost spreminjala na bolje, da bi se ji prepustili in spro-stili lastno ustvarjalnost.

The project My Hometown addresses predominantly the young and the children; the events are designed to make the life in town more interesting by rendering it some creative and inspirational spirit. The numerous events, taking place from June through September, will be located at different spots throughout the town. The summer Satur-day mornings are to feature music events and theatre events at the Culture Square in that Sunday mornings are reserved for creative workshops located in the town park. The events will be introduced by a family picnic in the town park.

The above said events shall feature various art forms which are to make our lives better in that we, the people of Murska Sobota, shall savour it and set our creative energies free.

Vsebine Festivala narečne književnosti Dialekta 2012, katerega osrednji dogodki bodo potekali v Murski Soboti 17., 18. in 19. maja, temeljijo na prepričanju, da narečja in kulturna ustvarjalnost v njih predstavljajo v mreži globalnih kulturnih procesov svo-jevrstno in dragoceno jezikovno-kulturno paradigmo. Zato se Dialekta 2012 usmerja v prepoznavanje in spodbujanje literarno-estetsko kakovostne narečne književnosti.

Ta cilj bo uresničila z naslednjimi poglavitnimi dogodki:srečanja narečnih literarnih ustvarjalcev s pomurskimi osnovno- in srednješolci 17. maja na več pomurskih osnovnih in srednjih šolah • izvedba literarnega natečaja »Ges/jes/jas/dža lajkan« (od 1. marca do 4. maja), na katerem bodo sodelovali pomur-ski osnovnošolci zadnje triade in srednješolci • slavnostna podelitev nagrad 17. maja v Murski Soboti • izvedba simpozija o narečni dramatiki in ljudskem odru 18. maja v Gornji Radgoni • literarni performans »Moja beseda iskrí v tvojih očeh, tvoja beseda pozvanja v moji duši« 17. maja v Murski Soboti, na kateri se bodo občinstvu pred-stavili domači narečni literarni ustvarjalci in vsi udeleženci Dialekte • sodelovanje s festivalom skečev Prefrigani zgrebaš v Pečarovcih, priložnostne razstave • izdaja Dia-lektinih publikacij (zbornik besedil »Vidim te v tvoji besedi«, Branko Pintarič: »Sámo ges te čakan«, Štefan Kardoš: »Mali«).

The featured contents of the Dialekta 2012 festival of dialect literature, the key events of which shall be presented in Murska Sobota in the time period from 17 May thorugh 19 May, are based upon the feeling that dialects and their cultural activity present, within the global network of cultural processes, a very unique and precious linguistic and cultural paradigm. For this reason Dialekta 2012 shall focus on detection and promotion high quality dialect literature; this it shall try to realise with the help of the events as follows:

− meetings of authors of dialect literature with primary and secondary school stu-dents of the area which are to be held on 17th May at various primary and secondary schools of the area

− literary competition Ges/jes/jas/dža lajkan to be held in the time period from 1st March through 4th May, with the primary and secondary school student of the area taking part

− festive award-giving ceremony on 17th May in Murska Sobota

− symposium on dialect playwriting and popular theatre activity, 18th May at Gornja Radgona

− literary performance entitled My word reflects in your eyes and your word echoes in my soul, to be held in Murska Sobota on 17th May, introducing to the people of gen-eral public domestic authors of dialect literature, along with all the participants of Dialekta 2012

− collaboration with the festival Prefrigani zgrebaš (Cunning Upstart) of Pečarovci oc-casional exhibitions

− publication of Dialekta booklets (anthology I Can See You in Your Word, I Am the Only One Waiting for You by Branko Pintarič; The Little One by Štefan Kardoš)

The permanent collection of the Museum of Concrete Art of Ingolstadt, Germany fea-tures the works of the artists who are key representatives of op art, concrete art, dada-ism, constructivism and other contemporary art movements. The list of artists includes Max Bill, Ludwig Wilding, Victor Vasarely, Josef Albers, Hans Arp and Hellmuth Bruch.

The selection of works of art for the Murska Sobota exhibition is to clearly define the socially binding charge of the exhibits while at the same time it is to familiarize art lovers with world-famous representatives of early modernism.

SPREHAJALIŠČA ZA VRAČANJE, ROMAN V VERZIHProducent: Založba Franc-Franc

Zvočni performans: 30. junij 2012 v Grajski dvorani.

Roman v verzih Sprehajališča za vračanje avtorja Ferija Lainščka je izšel leta 2010 v zbirki Samorog založbe Nova revija. Obsežno pesniško delo je napisano v jambskih devetercih s trojno rimo, obsega 39 poglavij, 93 spevov in 1854 verzov. Kot zvočni performans so ga uprizorili interpretatorka besedila in režiserka Simona Kopinšek, av-tor izvirne elektronske glasbe Marko Lük in oblikovalec zvoka Ivo Smogovec. Radijsko delo je bilo v celoti posneto v dramskem studiu Radia Maribor, po predvajanjih na ra-dijskih postajah pa bo dostopno tudi na nosilcu zvoka. Skupaj z oblikovalcem Alešem Pogorevčnikom bodo ustvarjalci pripravili tudi več javnih izvedb z dodano vizualno razsežnostjo.

The novel in verse Promenades To Return To by a renowned Slovenian writer Feri Lainšček was released in 2010 as part of the collection Unicorn published by Nova re-vija. The extensive poetic work-of-art is written in iambic verse with triple rhyme, com-prising 39 chapters, 93 cantos and 1,854 verses. As a sound performance it has been produced for stage by a verse interpreter and director Simona Kopinšek, aided by the author of original electronic music Marko Lük and the sound engineer Ivo Smogovec; it has been recorded in the drama studio of Radio Maribor and after it has been broad-cast by various radio stations it will be offered to public on a sound carrier. Working together with the designer Aleš Pogorevčnik the above said performers are going to give several public performances featuring additional visual dimension.

Soboško poletje – glasbeno zrcalo sveta bo z izborom najrazličnejših glasbenih zvrsti in kakovostnih izvajalcev iz domačega in mednarodnega prostora obiskovalcem ponu-dilo nekaj drugačnega, novega, morda celo neznanega. Med drugim bodo na odrih za-igrali, zapeli in zaplesali umetniki iz Slovenije, Brazilije, Burkine Faso, Češke, Hrvaške, Italije, Rusije, Srbije, ZDA in drugih dežel.

Soboško poletje se bo odvijalo v poletnih mesecih od junija do septembra: petkovi večeri na Trgu kulture, četrtkovi poletni večeri pa na dvorišču Soboškega gradu, v Gle-dališču Park, Grajski dvorani in morda še kje.

Vse z namenom, da bi nas umetnost spreminjala na bolje, da bi se ji prepustili in spro-stili lastno ustvarjalnost.

Front@ predstavlja vrh delovanja mednarodne mreže Dance Explorations Beyond Front@. Med izjemnimi plesnimi predstavami iz Avstrije, Madžarske, Hrvaške, Slove-nije, Slovaške, Belgije in Velike Britanije, ki jih bomo letos videli, velja omeniti pred-stavo LOL skupine Protein Dance iz Velike Britanije. Predstava je bila nagrajena na edinburškem festivalu in z nacionalno plesno nagrado, ki jo podeljujejo plesni kritiki v Veliki Britaniji. V okviru festivala bodo potekale tudi celodnevne plesne delavnice. Vrh festivala predstavljajo dogodki na prostem, ki bodo arhitekturo mesta spremenili v prizorišča in premikajočo galerijo plesnih fotografij. Med nastopajočimi bodo tudi osnovnošolci in upokojenci iz Murske Sobote, ki bodo sodelovali v plesni predstavi Generacije.

Front@ represents the highlight of the activity on the part of international network Dance Explorations Beyond Front@. Among exceptional dance performances from Aus-tria, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovak Republic, Belgium and Great Britain the per-formance by Protein Dance Company from Great Britain is worth mentioning for it has been awarded at the Edinburgh festival, and it has also received the national dance award given by dance critics of Great Britain. Apart from performances the festival will also feature all-day-long dance workshops in that the highlight of the festival will come in the form of outdoor dance performances which are going to turn the town‘s architecture into a moving gallery of dancing photos. Joining the above said top-notch dancers will be primary school students and retired people of the area, taking part in the dance performance Generations.

Štirinajst novih murskih balad in ro-manc v prekmurskem in prleškem nare-čju so ustvarili pesniki Vlado Žabot, Feri Lainšček, Vlado Kreslin, Dušan Šarotar, Milan Vincetič, Vlado Poredoš, Štefan Kardoš in Marko Kočar ter skladatelji, avtorji melodij in aranžmajev, Slav-ko Šuklar, Aldo Kumar, Andrej Misson, Boštjan Gombač, Tina Mauko, Boštjan Kranjc, Emil Glavnik, Urška Orlič, Roman Sarjaš in Tomaž Rauch. Ob spremljavi novega Murskega orkestra jih bodo in-terpretirali pevci iz Pomurja. Skladbe bodo izšle na zgoščenki in bodo prvič javno predstavljene na festivalu Mur-skih balad in romanc v Murski Soboti.

Fourteen ballads and romances in the Prekmurje dialect and the Prlekija dialect, recently written by local po-ets Vlado Žabot, Feri Lainšček, Vlado Kreslin, Dušan Šarotar, Milan Vincetič, Vlado Poredoš, Štefan Kardoš and Marko Kočar and put to music by Slavko Šuklar, Aldo Kumar, Andrej Mission, Boštjan Gombač, Tina Mauko, Boštjan Kranjc, Emil Glavnik, Urška Orlič, Ro-man Sarjaš and Tomaž Rauch. The said ballads and romances will be sung by several singers of the area, accompa-nied by the new Murski orkester, sub-sequently they will be released on a CD and promoted at the Festival of Ballads and Romances in Murska Sobota.

V letu 2012 bo v Murski Soboti potekalo XVII. srečanje slovenskih mladinskih pisateljev Oko besede. To je tradicionalni vseslovenski in ob udeležbi gostov iz drugih držav tudi medna-rodni literarni festival, na katerem se bodo zbrali literarni ustvarjalci, ki pišejo za otroke in mlade, literarni strokovnjaki, ki preučujejo mladinsko književnost, knjižničarji in književni pe-dagogi, ki so tako ali drugače povezani z mladinsko književnostjo. Poleg nastopov pisateljev na pomurskih osnovnih in srednjih šolah bodo glavni festivalski dogodki delovni posveti na izbrano temo ter simpozij kot osrednji strokovni dogodek, na katerem bodo referenti z raz-ličnih strokovnih področij obravnavali aktualna vprašanja mladinske književnosti. Posebna produkcija Očesa besede 2012 bo antologija z delovnim naslovom »Ovenčana pripoved«, v kateri bo dr. Dragica Haramija opisala opuse sodobnih slovenskih mladinskih prozaistov, ki so bili v zadnjih dvajsetih letih nagrajeni z vsaj eno pomembno nagrado ali priznanjem za področje mladinske književnosti. V okviru predstavitve knjige na Očesu besede 2012 bo organizirano srečanje v antologijo uvrščenih pisateljev s pomurskimi mladimi bralci.

This year Murska Sobota is hosting the seventeenth convention of Slovenian juvenile writ-ers, entitled Eye of a Word. It is an international literary festival, with domestic and foreign juvenile writers taking part, along with literary critics dealing with juvenile literature, librar-ians and teachers who have to do with juvenile literature. Apart from the participants mak-ing appearances at primary schools and secondary schools of the area the main events of the festival will be working conferences dedicated to a certain specific subject matter and a symposium where authorities in various fields will be addressing the current questions of juvenile literature. A featured production of the said convention will be the anthology with the working title Tale Laureate with dr. Dragica Haramija dealing with the opera of contempo-rary Slovenian juvenile novelists who have during the last two decades been awarded some important award or citation ; within the framework of the intrudction of the said anthology the writers mentioned in the anthology will be meeting with the young readers of the area.

During the latter part of the year new theatrical challenges, with guest theatre per-formances from home and abroad, are to make the local theatrical scene richer and more interesting.

Top-notch acting performances, innovative poetics of directing and new genres are some of the features which are to open up new theatrical horizons for decidated theatre-goers; on the other hand, however, younger audiences are to be familiarised with theatre as an exciting and inspiring experience which never fails to address the intimate and social reality of contemporary man.

Art is meant to change us for the better in that we should savour it and promote our own creativeness.

Novi gledališki izzivi bodo predvsem v drugi polovici leta 2012 z gostujočimi gle-dališkimi predstavami iz slovenskega in mednarodnega prostora obogatili gledališko ponudbo mesta in pokrajine.

»Že prepričanim« obiskovalcem želimo s presežki v vsaj enem segmentu predstave (vrhunske igralske kreacije, inovativne režiserske poetike, novi žanri ipd.) odstreti nova gledališka obzorja, mlajšemu občinstvu pa bomo gledališče predstavili kot vzne-mirljivo, navdihujočo izkušnjo, ki živo in verodostojno nagovarja intimno in družbeno stvarnost sodobnega človeka.

Vse z namenom, da bi nas umetnost spreminjala na bolje, da bi se ji prepustili in spro-stili lastno ustvarjalnost.

PREJK 12 je sklop dogodkov, ki se bodo odvili v središču Murske Sobote. Z njimi se bodo obiskovalci seznanili z ustvarjalnim delom ljudi iz Prekmurja, Prekmurci pa z novimi dimenzijami uporabe prostora skozi prepletanje preteklosti in sedanjosti ter tradicije in sodobnih trendov. Hrbtenica dogodkov bo sodobna glasba oziroma glasbe-ni izrazi, ki bodo združevali tradicionalne prijeme popularne glasbe, okoliške zvočne podobe in sodobna glasbena orodja. Dogodki bodo zaradi svoje nenavadnosti in pri-sotnosti tehnoloških in drugih inovacij še posebej zanimivi za mlade.

It is meant as a series of events, taking place in the centre of town and introducing to general public the creative output of Prekmurje creative artists, making suggestions as regards the new dimensions of use of space through the intertwinement of the past and the present, i.e. the intertwinement of tradition and contemporary trends. The operative word of the said events will be contemporary music and musical expre-sions which are to link traditional ways of popular music with musical images of the area and conteporary music tools. Due to their special features and their technological innovations the said events could very well turn out to be very interesting for young audiences.

Jesen 2012 na krožiščih v Murski Soboti.

V paroli »umetnost bližje človeku« se je odprl prostor novodobnih krožišč v mestu kot prostora, s katerim se srečuješ vsak dan in to večkrat, pa naj bo to v avtomobilu, na kolesu ali drugače. Društvo likovnih umetnikov Prekmurja in Prlekije se je odločilo, da izkoristi ta evropski trend urejanja tovrstnih prostorov z umetniškimi razstavnimi eksponati slikarsko-kiparskega značaja, ki lahko postanejo trajne umetniško-arhitek-tonske postavitve. Umetniki imajo v mislih krožišče na koncu Tišinske ulice, krožišče v Nemčavcih (zraven BTC-ja) ter eno trajno lokacijo v mestnem jedru. Trije umetniki, Jože Denko, Ignac Meden in Mirko Rajnar, bodo v času Evropske prestolnice kulture 2012 izvedli tri različne projekte.

The appeal to bring art closer to man has also opened up the space of currently very popular roundabouts which one comes across on a daily basis, quite often several times a day, be it in one‘s car or when one is riding a bicycle. The Society of Fine Art-ists of Prekmurje and Prlekija has decided to take advantage of the European trend of building roundabouts and complete them with works-of-art, either paintings or sculptures, which are to become a permanent integral parts. The artists have chosen the roundabout at the end of Tišinska Street, the roundabout at Nemčavci (near BTC shopping mall) and a location in the centre of town; thus Jože Denko, Ignac Meden and Mirko Rajnar are, as part of the European Cultural Capital events, going to realise three projects.

Signs of Pannonian Muses, the sculptural figures that refer to contemporary and lesser known historical facts, essential for the development of Pomurje region.

Within the framework of European Capital Culture 2012, as large as size bronze sta-tue Erato, the Muse of lyric and love poetry with her most common attributes, a swan and a lyre, will be erected in front of the Murska Sobota Regional and Study Library, created by the fine artist Irena Brunec - Tébi. The verses and the names of prominent Pomurje’s poets will be carved in the monument stone base.

Postavitev in odkritje predvidena jeseni 2012.

Sledi panonskih muz: kiparske upodobitve muz, vsebinsko vezane na sodobna in manj znana zgodovinska dejstva, ključna za razvoj Pomurja.

V okviru Evropske prestolnice kulture 2012 je predvidena postavitev dvometrskega bronastega kipa Erato, muze liričnega pesništva in ljubezenske poezije, z njenima naj-značilnejšima atributoma liro in labodom, ki je delo likovne umetnice Irene Brunec - Tébi. Na ploščadi pred Pokrajinsko in študijsko knjižnico v Murski Soboti bodo na kam nitem podstavku te kiparske kompozicije izklesani verzi in imena pomurskih pe-snikov ljubezenske poezije.
