These issues are to be handled by the classroom teacher:
• Eating, drinking & chewing gum in class• Cheating• Class tardiness• Talking / disruption• Horseplay• Inappropriate noises• Late, missing, or incomplete
homework/assignments• Littering• Occasional Defiance• Negative Attitude• No-Show for detention

DEANThe Dean will receive referrals for the
following offenses:
• Chronic defiance• Chronic disruption• Committing obscene acts• Continued harassment• Falsely reporting a fire or bomb• Fighting

• Gang activity
• Possession of weapons and/or dangerous objects
• Substance abuse
• Tagging
• Theft/Extortion
• Vandalism of school property

ADMINISTRATORSAdministrators will handle the following:
• Referrals from the dean
• Recommend Expulsion
• O.T. Appeals

• Referrals from Dean and/or from Administrators as needed.
Guidance CounselorsTo counsel students and offer support •Referrals from dean and/or Administrators.

Teacher ComponentObjective: A progressive discipline focus
should be followed at this level. Following are recommended strategies that
can be implemented in the classroom to address targeted behaviors:
Be proactive• Meet and greet students as they walk in• Positive feedback• Model Respect• Discipline with dignity

If problems arise or continue, follow these recommendations:
•Proximity correction

•Behavior Letter
•Parent Conference
•Note/phone call home
•Student teacher conference

•Buddy system

Teacher Component Cont.After having implemented a combination
of these strategies to address a specific behavior and the behavior has not improved and/or it has become chronic, you may refer to the Dean. Submit the completed referral form, and provide documentation of previous actions taken.

Once the student is referred, the Dean will determine appropriate consequence according to the offense and previous record.
Progressive Discipline may once again start at this level.
