Storyboard? A pictorial/written synopsis of  texts, graphics, videos, and animations, etc.

shown in order they will appear in thefinal product.

Is a sequence of  screen displays.

Represent results of  a sequence of  user

actions.

Used to identify all multimedia resources.

Storyboard? One example of  low-fidelity

prototyping

Does not very look very much like thefinal product.

Consist of  a series of  sketches showing the flow of  the system and

how users might perform their tasks. Used in early design.

Storyboarding? The process of  defining the messageand describing user interaction with

the content and the application. Involves a complex effort to develop

panels for screen layouts that describe content, flow and format.

Advantages  Helps to catalyze the f eelings about the f easibility of  the program idea.

If  the storyboard looks wrong, so does the program.

Omission may be spotted.

Act as a document which everyone

can point to as a common point of  ref erence

For both the design team and theclient/user.

Advantages  Helps focus on the total content of  the program.

Problems may be spotted. Detailed storyboards can save time in

writing project documentation.

Act as a template for the content-writer to work with.

Speeds up the content-writing process

Flowchart?  A diagram that uses graphic symbols

to depict the nature and flow of thesteps in a process.

When to use Throughout the Process:

In the beginning: use an ³As-Is´Flowchart To understand how the project currently works

During: Compare As-Is to ³Ideal´ End: Use to help visualize changes to

process

Flowchart? Benefits

Promote process understanding

Provide tool for training Identify problem areas and

improvement opportunities

Depict customer-supplier

relationships
