2 | PROLOG 2019: INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PROJECT LOGISTICS
A WARMWELCOME ...Dear colleagues and partners,
First of all, welcome to the University of Lorraine, and in particular to the Metz IAE School of Management for the fifth PROLOG event.
Where we are today, on the technological campus of Metz metropolis, is at the heart of Europe, on a borderland located just a few kilometers from our German, Luxembourger and Belgian friends. This is a region of “flows” where logistics have always been a key issue. After travelling round France, North Africa, and the UK, PROLOG is back in Metz. And it’s come a long way since the idea took root in the minds of its two founders, Smaïl Benzidia, Associate Professor of supply chain management (SCM), and Omar Bentahar, Associate Professor of SCM and project management. In the name of the University of Lorraine, I take this opportunity to thank them for their initiative and congratulate them for their contribution to the scientific community, our IAE and our region. I would also like to thank the city of Metz, the metropolis of Metz (Metz Métropole), the Moselle département (Département de la Moselle) and the Grand Est region (Région Grand Est) for their unconditional support for all of the higher education and research action that our IAE carries out in the area, and today more specifically for their support for PROLOG. I warmly thank the Professor Blandine Ageron of Université Grenoble Alpes for her unfailing support to the PROLOG Conference. Last but not least, I would like to thank all of the academic and professional colleagues taking part in this 5th PROLOG event and in particular our guest speakers: Professor Martin Christopher of Crandfield School of Management, the President of the Scientific Committee of PROLOG2019, Professor Angappa Gunasekaran, Dean of School of Business and Public Administration, California State University, Bakersfield, Professor Nathalie Drouin of UQAM, Montréal, Professor Jiuh-Biing Sheu of National Taiwan University, Professor Michael Bourlakis, Director of Research for Crandfield School of Management, Professor Lavagnon Ika of University of Ottawa. Thanks to PROLOG, Metz has the honor of hosting one of the most impressive
scientific delegations on supply chain management and project management in the world.
Lastly, along with the rich scientific debates that await us, I encourage you to take the time to go into the heart of our city and discover its beauty. Tonight, we will take you across town with an invitation to the Salon Napoleon at Saint Arnoul Abbey. Which brings me to thank staff at the East Defense and Security Zone for allowing us to use such a unique location imbued with French history.
So once again, all my thanks to the founders of PROLOG and to the organization team who have made such efforts to ensure that this scientific event is a success today.
Have a great stay in Metz and a fruitful work session.
Julien HussonDirector of IAE Metz School of ManagementUniversité de Lorraine
PROLOG 2019: INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PROJECT LOGISTICS | 3
Dear conference delegates, dear colleagues and PROLOG friends,
Welcome to the fifth PROLOG international confe-rence co-organized by the Institut d’Administration des Entreprises (IAE) Metz School of Management and the Centre Européen de Recherche en Econo-mie Financière et Gestion des Entreprises (CEREFI-GE), the research center for management sciences and financial economics, both part of the University of Lorraine (France).
Whereas the PROLOG international conference intends to provide a platform for fruitful scientific exchanges in order to identify synergies between the field of Logistics, Supply Chain Management and Project Management, the 2019 edition of the conference focuses on Agile Supply Chain and Project.
The central theme of this 2019 edition is fully in line with the specific context of the hosting region. Lorraine is indeed a historical industrial territory, strongly influenced by traditional industries like metallurgy, mining and textile, that have undergone a decline due to restructuring and the move of some jobs offshore. As a consequence, the logistics and service sectors have experienced a strong growth in the last thirty years. The region is now developing in new sectors, at the interface of industrial activities, service activities and research activities. Lorraine is also a territory whose borders have changed many times in its long history and thus particularly concerned by cross-border issues. As a place of renewal and interconnection, Lorraine is definitely the right place to host a scientific high-level event focused on logistics, its transformations and challenges.
The program is up to the task, with six very prestigious/famous international keynote speakers, numerous very interesting sessions, not to mention the PhD colloquium for young researchers, which all together definitely show the importance of logistics today in value creation processes.
That’s the reason why we are pleased to warmly thank:- the Conference Chair, Professor Martin Christopher (Cranfield School of Management, Cranfield University, UK), as well as the five other prestigious keynote speakers, Professor Michael Bourlakis (Cranfield School of Management, Cranfield University, UK), Professor Nathalie Drouin (UQAM,
Montréal, Canada), Professor Angappa Gunasekaran, (School of Business and Public Administration, California State University, USA), Professor Lavagnon Ika (Telfer School of management, Ottawa, Canada), and Professor Jiuh-Biing Sheu (National Taiwan University);- the numerous colleagues who accepted to serve in the scientific committee;- all the academic colleagues and professional managers attending the conference and thus contributing to the fruitful scientific exchanges; - and of course the organizing committee, Professor Blandine Ageron (University of Grenoble Alpes), Omar Bentahar, Smail Benzidia and Julien Husson, all three from the IAE Metz School of Management, with special thanks to Laurence Contois and Vincent Braun (CEREFIGE) for their precious help.
We wish you all a great time in Lorraine and a very successful conference!
Professor Jean-Luc Herrmannand Professor Benoît GrasserDirector and Deputy Director of the CEREFIGE, University of Lorraine.

10 | PROLOG 2019: INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PROJECT LOGISTICS
CONFERENCE THEMEAGILE SUPPLY CHAIN AND PROJECTThe increase of competition and the rapid technological change, characterizing the nowadays business environment require a shift towards new paradigms in the fields of logistics and project management. Indeed, the improvement of supply chain performance is highly dependent on the evolution of the traditional fragmented supply chain models, focused on localized optimization, towards the integrated and agile supply chain perspectives. This latter perspective takes into account the overall efficiency of the supply chain, and more qualitative aspects such as customer satisfaction. In the case of project management, the agile perspective is mainly mobilized in the field of information systems - related projects. Given the effectiveness of this perspective, its use expands towards various fields of application such as industrial, logistics and construction projects. In this context, several issues need to be addressed: What are the new mechanisms for coordinating supply chain and project related stakeholders?
PROLOG – PROJECT LOGISTICThe increase of competition and the rapid technological change, characterizing the nowadays business environment require a shift towards new paradigms in the fields of logistics and project management. Aiming to increase their business performance, companies adopt new logistics and project related strategies, oriented not only towards technical excellence and optimization, but also towards innovation. The international Conference PROLOG is a scientific event, aimed at creating a synergy between the field of logistics/SCM and Project Management. It also promotes research, focusing on contemporary issues in SCM and Project Management, allowing an incremental contribution to theory and value creation for companies.
