AIGA Mentorship 2013 • PROPOSAL

THE CONCEPTMy project will focus on wordplay and puns, and will show these ideas through the use of absurd, yet thought-provoking imagery displaying the playful whimsy that is usually found in my illustrations. These images will be screen printed in colorful paper and inks, as well as shared with attendees in the form of buttons and notebooks. The editioned prints and monoprints will be created with the intention of being displayed in a modular manner (shown below on a 4 ft x 8 ft wall). Regardless of the space available, all items will fit and work together.

Editioned PrintsThese prints will be of larger scale and will mostly consist of editioned work.

Monoprints & Test PrintsThese will be smaller printed pieces that include test runs from the editioned prints, as well as patterns, one-a-kind images and other types of printed experimentation.

1-Inch ButtonsThese buttons will be produced as giveaways for the attendees.

Printed NotebooksLimited edition Moleskine notebooks will be screen printed and given away.

THE GIVEAWAYSThis being a project with a focus on self promotion, I want to put emphasis on what kind of goodies the attendees of the event will receive. With a balance between utilitarian and whimsical, I decided to offer notebooks and buttons. The notebooks will feature unique printed covers and a multipurpose blank in-terior. The buttons will feature a large array of random objects, letters and colors that can be mixed and matched to create visual puns, phrases or any creative meaning the wearer comes up with.

Here are some initial thoughts of what I will illustrate for the buttons, as well as some samples of notebooks I have done in the past.
