4. PROJECT DIGEST DESCRIPTION :

a. Industrial sectors consume the largest part of energy than commercial building, household and transportion.

b. Their energy cost component is about 20% of total production cost.

c. The surpassing of oil price push the industry to more conserve energy

d. Indonesia energy elasticity (ratio between energy consumption growth rate to economic growth rate) is still high, at 1.84. Therefore, there are potential opportunity to save energy by implementing energy conservation scheme

e. More efficient the industry in consuming energy will more competitive in world market5. Problem to be solved

External Factor Conditiona. Higher production cost due to higher energy price tend to weaken competitiveness

b. CO2 reduction road map by MOI

c. Stabilizing concentration of green house gases (GHG) to the safe level due to Indonesia commitment to Framework Climate Change Convention.

d. PP. 70/2009 : Government Regulation on Energy Conservation.

The problem faced by Industry to develop ENERGY CONSERVATION are :a. Lack of competent of Engineers to implement Energy Conservation scheme.

b. Lack of Education for Employees.

c. Lack of Finance / Fund

d. Most equipment are old and obsolete

e. Lack of Measurement Equipment

f. Insufficiency of infrastructures : databases, standards and manuals

6. ACTION PLAN

A. Capacity building of government officer especially MOI

Capacity building consists of :

Training or study of Energy conservation to be implemented by industries

This training will be conducted and held in Korea, in hope that learning directly from the origin source will be more effective and efficient. The Study content :

Energy conservation effort in steam generation and distribution system

Energy conservation effort in electricity

Energy conservation effort in machinery operation

a). Survey on existing energy conservation

b). Audit energy

c). Recommendation Aid of monitoring equipments for energy conservation

The monitoring equipments were used to conduct audit energy as preliminary step to energy conservation.

B. Technical Assistance to Industry in Conservation technology

Target : Industries especially Korea exports oriented industries and Korea owners industries.

7. GOAL OF THE PROGRAM

a).To increase the competitiveness of industries, especially Korea export oriented industries and Korea owner industries.

b).To support CO2 reduction road map by MOI, and Indonesias commitment to Framework Climate Change Convention on GHG reduction. TIME SCHEDULEIMPLEMENTING ENERGY CONSERVATION SCHEMES ON INDUSTRIES
