and to inculcate in them the spirit of friendship, equality, discipline and human values.

Buxi Jagabandhu English Medium School - II established and managed by the Buxi Jagabandhu Education

Society is named after a valiant freedom fi ghter and philanthropist of the state. The school came into existence on 11th May, 2006 and started functioning from 19th June, 2006 at M–15, BJB Nagar, in the Mother School. The school started functioning at its own campus at Satyabhamapur in 2009 furnished with spacious, well ventilated classrooms, a well stocked library, attractive toy room, audio video room, a big playground and an auditorium.

The school has been affi liated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, vide its affi liation no. 1530154.

The Motto of the school is SA VIDYA YA VIMUKTAYE and its guiding principle is “Let learning be a joy and teaching a pleasure”.

Over the years the school has developed educational infrastructure for classes from Lower Nursery to Std. XII with the best possible facilities and provisions to cater the present and latest requirements of the students and teachers. It extends all possible care to nurture the hidden talents of its learners. The school has been functioning successfully with the concerted efforts of the Management, the effi cient and experienced Principal, the learned faculty and responsible parents.

OBJECTIVES

The school aims at promotion of quality education and an all round development in personality of a child so as to enable him/her to be a responsible citizen of tomorrow.

GOALS AND DIRECTIVES

The school curriculum is designed to help each child to reach his/her full potential by providing a wide general education, encouraging community spirit and sense of responsibility. Education at B.J.E.M. School-II is rooted in the belief that the student must be an active participant in the educational process. The school aims at helping the child to develop every facet of his/her personality – physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual. Our efforts are directed at preparing the students to be disciplined, fearless, courteous and well informed human being in this rapidly changing world.

ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT

We believe that :

1. The child is the pivot of all our programmes, policies and learning process in the classroom. We affi rm the individuality, personality and identity of every child. There is no place for any kind of corporal punishment. The teacher is a friend, philosopher and guide who holds the hand of the child to guide him/her on the path of growth towards a bright future.

2. The school endeavors to inculcate in each child the pride of being an Indian and love for the rich cultural heritage of India. Our aim is to inspire our children to respect the national traditions, values and ideals.

3. Every child can develop fully only if he/she is profi cient in his/her mother tongue. Though the medium of instruction is English, the mother tongue of the child is given ample importance, to enable him/her to understand and appreciate the ethnic culture.

4. All efforts are made to maintain transparency in the school administration. A strong and active Managing Committee strengthen the hands of the authorities in motivating and inspiring the staff and students alike.

5. The teaching staff have academic freedom to function effectively. Regular in-service teacher training programmes orient the staff with the updated techniques in the fi eld of education.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMME

The CCE system of assessment and Evaluation has been abolished from Class-I to X. At present the entire process of assessments, tests and examinations is strictly based upon the new guidelines prescribed by the CBSE with effect from the academic year 2017-18.

DIGITAL SMART CLASSIn order to enhance the academic excellence of the school, Digital Smart Class has been introduced in the school from the session 2014 - 2015 for classes Lower Nursery to Std.X. TATA Class Edge, a subsidiary of TATA Group with a nation wide reputation is managing the logistic and operations of the Digital Smart Class.

SOFT SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Our school is having well equipped English Laboratory. Where soft skills development programme is being pursued by the school. Special compulsory classes are held every week in which students participate in various activity modules like – Debates, Elocutions, Extempore, Speeches, Group Discussions, Story telling/Enactment, Recitation, Conversations, Mock Interviews, Quiz, News Reporting, Commentaries, Dramatics and many more.

This value based programme aims at enhancing the students’ communication skills, which gives vent to their creative abilities and taps their latent talents. This pioneering effort has helped in producing confi dent, skillful, positive and vivacious group of students.

AUDIO VISUAL AIDS

The school has an Audio Room, English Laboratory and a slide projector, an overhead projector, tape recorder, colour television, DVD, computers with multimedia and internet facilities etc. to enhance the effectiveness of teaching learning process.

COMPUTER CENTRE

The introduction of Computer Science in school has become an integral part of the education. Our computer lab has adequate number of computers with internet facilities. Computer Science courses are imparted to students from Std.III onwards as a part of SUPW programme of CBSE syllabus.

LIBRARYOur school has a well stocked library, staffed adequately to keep the library in good order, and to guide the students during their library periods to make best use of the library and the books. The stock is constantly expanded and updated to provide meaningful reference material to students and teachers.

All have access to the library, which follows the Dewey system of classifi cation.

There is a special section for the use of the students of Std. X to XII. This section contains supplementary reading materials like parallel text books, reference books, maps and examination papers of previous years.

There is a special section for the teachers. There is also a Video Film Library of informative and educational fi lms, catering to the needs of different age groups.

LABORATORIES

The school has well equipped Science Laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Besides it has a Mathematics Laboratory, Computer Science Laboratory

and an English Laboratory.

STUDENTS PARTICIPATION

The school is quite alive to its responsibility of inculcating leadership qualities among the students. The students are trained to shoulder positions of responsibility. There are school appointments, house appointments, class appointments etc. The class monitors perform duties assigned to them by the class teachers. School prefects and House prefects work in the various school committees, hold periodical meetings and suggest the Principal about the welfare measures taken for the student community. The Head Boy, the Head Girl, the Team and the House Captains and the other Prefects are appointed by the Principal amongst those who show qualities of leadership and command a great deal of respect from their fellow students, and form a very valuable part of the school community.

CO-CURRICULAR AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

An array of extra-curricular activities complement the academic courses, to enrich and to help the students to develop physically, emotionally and socially. Physical Education is given as much importance as academics. Pupils are provided ample opportunities to play a wide variety of games, that not only recreates their mind but also helps in their physical growth.

INTER SCHOOL TOURNAMENTS / MATCHES

Every year our students participate in various inter school tournaments like Kho-Kho, Football, Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Chess etc. and have brought laurels to our school.

HOBBY CLASSES

Hobbies are a part of the curriculum for all students of Lower Nursery to Std. XII. Hobby classes in Fine Art and Craft, Outdoor and Indoor games, Dance and Music are offered to the students.

EXHIBITIONS AND DEMONSTRATIONS

The school encourages and inspires the students to make the best use of their interest, skill, time, energy and knowledge in making projects in Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, Languages, Art and Craft, Games and Sports. An Inter Disciplinary Exhibition cum Demonstration is held every year. Prizes and awards are given away to the students for best display and demonstration of their exhibits.

SCIENCE CLUB:

Anawik (Science Club) has taken into its engulf children from classes III to VIII where all the innovative and creative skills are exhibited and it works on developing the scientifi c approach of the children in a broaders scale.

ECO CLUB AND HERITAGE CLUB

The school runs two active clubs, the Eco club and the Heritage club which helps students to develop their original and leadership skills through activities like study tours and trips, exhibitions, projects, rallies and drives, street shows, group discussions, talks etc.

SCHOOL ASSEMBLY

The school conducts exclusive morning assembly daily. It is a congregation of the staff and the students where, besides prayer and patriotic songs, relevant information is passed to all concerned. The daily news headlines and school news are read out. Individual speakers from among the students and the teachers speak on various informative and educative topics. Other activities include conversational English and open house quiz. This fosters a competitive spirit and gives wide exposure to the students.

RECREATION

The school provides facilities for leisure time activities like, Carrom, Chess, Badminton etc. Playgrounds are also equipped with swings, see-saw, slides, merigoround etc.

INTER-HOUSE ACTIVITIES, HOBBIES AND CLUBS

The student community from Std.L.N. onwards is divided into fi ve houses – Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Space. For each house we have two captains and two vice captains, one each from the boys and the girls respectively. Members of the staff act as house master/moderator who look after the general progress of their students in games and sports and co-curricular activities. Since all competitions are held on house basis, house loyalties are the strongest. A regular record of student participation and achievements in house activities is maintained and points are awarded to each house which contribute to determine champion house at the end of the year.

The Annual Inter-House Athletic and Sports Meet is organised and certifi cates of merit, medals and trophies are awarded. Sportsmanship, Co-operation and Team Spirit are strengthened during regular inter-house tournaments held throughout the year in all major games. Trophies and shields are awarded to the worthy participants.

SCOUTING AND GUIDING

Scouting and Guiding are optional for boys and girls of Std. VI to X and in fact it makes the students a complete person in all respect. Besides getting weightage during the admission for higher studies, it equips the students very well in their day to day life.

TRIPS AND OUTINGS

The teachers take the children to places of interest and importance locally like zoo, science park, museum, planetarium etc., on Saturdays and holidays to the outskirts of the city like Dhauli, Khandagiri etc. This develops the teacher-taught relationship even more beyond the classroom situation. It widens their exposure and experience. It enables them to appreciate the marvels of nature and man made monuments, understand and honour their culture, tradition besides having a patriotic feeling for the country, respect for the tradition of other regions. They realize the socio cultural status of their own motherland.

ANNUAL CELEBRATIONSThe Annual Function is celebrated every year in the month of December. This is a platform where children showcase their talent and cultural fl air. Besides that, their confi dence grows. Leadership quality, group participation, respect and good feelings for the co-participants also gets enhanced. Parents share the happiness of their wards. In addition observation of important days, National celebrations, Festivals, Annual sports, exhibition etc. increase the spirit of participation in the children.

STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL EXAMINATIONS AND CONTESTSThe school organises various State, National and International level examinations and contests for the students from Primary to Senior Secondary level to give them a higher competitive aptitude and attitude.

SOCIAL SERVICE LEAGUEThe Social Service League aims at helping those in the community, who sustain natural calamities and need immediate help. They also create awareness among public on various topics.

The underlying concept of the league is to inculcate compassion and generosity in the students, so that each individual student contributes and learns to take pride in giving rather than taking. The development of this single personality may revolutionise the mind of a child and encourage him/her to serve for the greater cause of humanity. The students are engaged in activities like cleaning temple premises, plantation drive, street plays, cleaning village premises etc.

SCHOOL CANTEEN

The school canteen serves delicious snacks, tea, etc. at reasonable price during the break times.

SCHOOL BOOK SHOP

The school books and other articles of stationery can be purchased from the school book shop which operates in the premises at the beginning of the new session. For the sake of uniformity, students are required to purchase exercise books of the standard design bearing the name and logo of the school from the school book shop.

THE SCHOOL CLINICThe school has a small but well equipped clinic. First aid dressings for all kinds of wounds and sprains are done for the children. Once in a year routine medical check up is carried out for all the children in the school besides the height and weight measurements recorded at the term ends once in a year.

COMPETITIONS

The school organizes and encourages healthy competitive participation.

communicate freely on all the subjects. Our goal is to stimulate participation in cultural and intellectual endeavour towards the development of the whole individual. B.J.E.M.S.- II is a place where living, learning and socializing are merged into one, providing maximum exposure for interaction between the students and the faculty members.

SCHOOL TIMINGS

Monday to Saturday Timing

Lower Nursery to Std. I 7:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

Std-II 7:15 a.m. to 01:15 p.m.

Std. III to Std. X 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

ADMISSION SYSTEM

1. The minimum age for admission to Lower Nursery is 3+ years as on the 31st May of the year of admission to school. The age, for the higher classes will be computed accordingly.

2. Admission is open to boys and girls on the basis of merit and availability of seats.

3. Parents and guardians desiring admission for their wards into Lower Nursery should obtain the prospectus from the school campus at Satyabhamapur on all working days between 10.30 am to 2 pm. The admission to all classes will be done on fi rst come fi rst serve basis. The date & place of sale of text books will be intimated later.

4. The school shall follow a system of random selection for Lower Nursery admission out of the application received from children belonging to disadvantaged groups and weaker sections for fi lling the per-determined number of seats which should be not less than 25% of the strength of the class. 15% of seats shall be fi lled up by the child belonging to disadvantaged groups [BPL Card Holders, SC/ST, SEBC and children who are found without any home or any settled place or abode and without any ostensible means of subsistence or a child who is found begging or who is either a street child or a working child]. The rest 10% of seats shall be fi lled up by children of any of the above two categories, there shall be interchange of seats.

For admission of the remaining 75% of the seats will be done on random basis. There shall be no test and interviews for any child/parent falling within or outside the categories.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

Transfer Certifi cate is not required for admission upto Std. I. Only birth certifi cate from the Municipality or Panchayat will be accepted.

Transfer Certifi cate from the previous school is a ‘must’ for admission to Std.II onwards. The school issuing such certifi cates should be recognized by the Government or Board. The certifi cate issued should be countersigned by the District Inspector of Schools or Circle Inspector of Schools or the Director of Public Instructions of Schools.

Attested copies of mark sheet showing the performance of the student in the previous class should be submitted along with the application.

Two passport size colour photographs of the student.

Money receipt in original should be attached to the application form.

Certifi cate stating disadvantaged groups.

GENERAL RULE

1. The school reserves the right to admit or reject any student without assigning any reason. The decision of the Principal shall be abiding and fi nal.

2. Documents required at the time of admission:

i) Two recent passport size colour photographs.

ii) Countersigned T.C. of the previous school if desiring admission to Std. II and above.

iii) Original progress report/mark sheet of the previous school.

3. English is the medium of instruction right from Lower Nursery. Hindi is also taught from Upper Nursery and Odia is also taught from Std. I.

4. The enrollment form and other necessary papers must be fi lled in with due care by the parent/guardian. The name and date of birth of the student once recorded in the enrollment form and school admission register cannot be changed later. An undertaking to this effect will have to be signed with the enrollment form.

WITHDRAWAL

1. The Principal reserves the right to ask for the withdrawal of any student who has proved immune to correction.

2. Request for withdrawal of a pupil must be made in writing by his/her parents accompanied by a remittance of requisite fees for the issue of the School Leaving Certifi cate.

3. All the dues have to be cleared before a School Leaving Certifi cate is issued. No question of refund of any dues of a child will arise at the time of withdrawal after getting admission into any class.

4. The students shall be suspended or expelled from the school on the following ground :

i) Indiscipline

ii) Non payment of dues.

iii) At any time, if the authorities are satisfi ed that such withdrawal is necessary in the interest of the school.

iv) The name of the student will be strucked off from the rolls after continuous absence for ten days without information. He / she may be readmitted as per the rules at the discretion of the Principal.

Students are required to secure 75% of the total attendance during a session to be eligible to appear in their fi nal examination.

v) The decision of the Principal shall be fi nal and abiding in this regard.

PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEESAll the fees will be accepted at the School Fees Counter, Satyabhamapur, as per timings given in the fee card. The fees for a particular month should be paid on or before the 15th of the said month. If the 15th of the month happens to be a scheduled holiday, the fee will be accepted on the next working day without fi ne.

The fees can be paid for all the 12 months of the session for all the classes.

MODE OF PAYMENTAll the fees are to be paid in cash or online. The tuition fees can be paid on or before 15th of the month without fi ne.

A fi ne of 10/- will be charged from defaulters after 15th till the end of the month. A fi ne of 20/- will be charged if the school fees are paid within the next month and

30/- if paid within three months (see example below). April 1st to 15th : No fi ne April 16th to 30th : .10/- (fi ne) May (whole month) : .20/- (fi ne) June (whole month) : .30/- (fi ne) July : The defaulters shall have to pay a fi ne

equivalent of one month’s tuition fee starting from 1st July along with the arrears.

FEE CARD

1. Fee card must be produced at the counter for every payment. Please ensure that the necessary entries are duly fi lled in the fee card at the counter after every payment.

2. Duplicate fee card can be issued (if lost) on payment of .10/-.3. Read the rules and guidelines printed on the fee card.

STUDENTS’ SAFETY INSURANCE SCHEMEStudents’ Safety Insurance Policy of the New India Assurance Company Limited has been introduced by this institution in consultation with the above Insurance Company for which a sum of Rs.3/- is payable by each student towards premium along with the dues of April every year.STUDENTS’ DIARYThe diary is intended to be used by pupils to record their school activities and assignments. Parents/Guardians are requested to keep in touch with their ward’s day to day progress. This will establish a valuable liaison between the Teachers and the Parents. Necessary information is passed on from either side to monitor the child’s progress.
