  • Dear Dancers, Parents, Coaches, and Guests,

It is with much excitement that we welcome you to the seventh Kansas City Classic! This qualifying contest for the Missouri Dance Team Association's State Dance Team Championship was created in order to provide local teams in the Kansas City area an opportunity to have their routines evaluated by a panel of qualified judges in an intimate and supportive setting, and receive feedback in order to prepare for the state competition.  We are the only contest in Missouri that is the combination of efforts between a high school dance team and its coaches, and an outside professional dance company.  Due to this unique partnership, we are able to offer not only a great facility and the support of a school community, but also unique awards like perfecting sessions, aerial lessons, bids to a national championship and a scholarship awarded to a deserving high school senior!  We are so glad to have this opportunity to provide all of this for MDTA teams.

We'd like to thank the Liberty Public School District, Liberty Senior High School, Principal Dr. April Adams, Athletic Director Jason Cahill, Athletic Trainer Deanna Neldon and the LHS custodial staff for making this event possible.  Thanks also to the Liberty Sapphires, their parents, the assistant coaches, and the ladies of Larkspur Dance & Choreography and The Kansas City Classic Crew who have worked so hard to make this event a success.  We're also grateful to Brett Elder, Deb Rothweiler, and Shelley McCain of MDTA for being so helpful in the planning of this contest.  We've also been very fortunate to receive great support from the many sponsors, vendors and donors who have purchased program and t-shirt ads, set up vendor tables, donated concession and drawing items, and generously given monetary donations.  Please thank them by giving them your business.  And many thanks to our judges who are lending us their talent and expertise today!  We appreciate you all!

And a final, heartfelt thank you to the teams and coaches who are participating in The Kansas City Classic!  Whether this is your first year or your seventh year, we're so glad you're here!  Best of luck to you today and the rest of the year!

    Sincerely,

Maggie Willis Melanie DaileyLiberty Sapphires Head Coach Larkspur Dance & Choreography
