Students attending Providence Academy are required to wear uniforms in all grades. The uniform policy allows

for personal selection of preferred colors and types of garments within the boundaries set by administration.

With the exception of Chapel Day and other special events, students may wear any clothing combination listed

in the uniform policy.

The main objective of the uniform policy is to give priority to the development of the inner self over the outer

self (1 Peter 3:3-4). We acknowledge that students have their own style of dress and the desire to dress “in

style”. While a uniform policy does not include the latest fashion trends, we have attempted to bring a variety

of color and style to the selection of uniform pieces in order to provide some variation of choice.

Adhering to the Providence Academy uniform policy is considered part of good conduct for each student. It is

also important to realize that parents, as the primary educators of their children (Deuteronomy 6; Ephesians 6),

play a key role in the area of dress code compliance. Please join us in supporting the school uniform policy by

purchasing clothing items that follow the guidelines within the policy. The administration has final say on dress

appropriateness. Please take time to read through the policy in its entirety to familiarize yourself with it.

Vendor Information

Families will have more flexibility when purchasing uniforms this year. Items are now available from three

uniform vendors. Each vendor has provided our school with a unique school code, which will allow you to shop

for clothing that has been pre- approved for our school. The websites for each vendor are customized to be in

compliance with our new school policy. Our approved vendors are:

Dennis Uniforms

French Toast

Lands’ End

For your convenience, the uniform committee has prepared a Comparison Shopping Guide that is included in

the uniform policy. You will be able view items available from all three vendors, and compare prices prior to

visiting their websites and making your purchase. The variations in the vendors selected make it possible for

families to choose uniform pieces that best fit their household needs.

Formal Uniform

Students of Providence Academy attend chapel once a week. On this day, students are required to wear a

formal uniform. Special event dress days may be scheduled in advance by an administrator or teacher. Formal dress days will be in place for events such as visiting dignitaries, open houses, and formal field trips.

Required Chapel/Formal Attire

Students wear the formal uniform for weekly chapel, assemblies, and events.

Dress Down/Spirit Day

Dressing out of uniform can be fun and allows students to express their own style. Throughout the school

year students will have the opportunity to participate in dress-down or spirit days. These events may be

school-wide or limited to a particular grade depending on the event. We encourage all students to

participate in the dress-down/spirit day, and remind everyone that certain dress code guidelines must still be

followed.

• Shorts and skirt lengths apply

• Sleeveless tops, spaghetti-straps, or tops that reveal skin above the pant or skirt

waistline are prohibited

• Make-up and jewelry policies are in effect

• Flip Flops are not appropriate

Students are never forced to participate on dress-down day. If your student wishes not to participate they

will be expected to wear their school uniform.

Page 4: PROVIDENCE ACADEMY Uniform Policy · • Make-up and jewelry policies are in effect • Flip Flops are not appropriate Students are never forced to participate on dress-down day

Outerwear

Students are expected to come to school dressed appropriately for the weather. During cold weather students

may have outdoor recess and PE, and will be outdoors for carpool. Students should come prepared with

appropriate coats, hats, and gloves. Students not appropriately dressed will not be allowed to

participate in outdoor recess. Students may wear snow boots or warm weather boots to school, but

must change into the appropriate dress shoes or sneakers once inside the building. Outerwear coats

and boots may not be worn throughout the day, with the exception of the approved fleece jacket. An exception

to this rule would be a dress-down day in which spirit wear sweatshirts are allowed.

Physical Education

Motivating students to participate in physical activities in and out of the classroom is an integral part of the

physical education program at Providence Academy. We believe that God has given us our bodies as a gift

and we are to steward that gift well. We believe kids have active bodies and active minds, so that learning

can be optimized and ultimately glorify God. Only the Middle School students will dress for PE. Below is
