What is Public Engagement?• “Public engagement describes the myriad of

ways in which the activity and benefits of higher education and research can be shared with the public. Engagement is by definition a two-way process, involving interaction and listening, with the goal of generating mutual benefit ”

Sarah Want
Title should read 'Catalyst for Public Engagement with Research'The 'with research' bit is very important to RCUK as they saw this as a key part of the differentiation between BEACONs and this call. I think they will be disappointed if we can't report back on our activity in this context. This will need to be stressed to the group on Wednesday, as the majority of the people attending do not deal with research on a day to day basis and therefore won't understand the relevance. Richard will as he has a lot of significant expertise in this area.
