UMAEL hosts a World

Congress every four years

where all associations and fed-

erations of Lasallian former

students worldwide gather to

discuss the way forward for

Lasallian Alumni. This is first

time in UMAEL history that

the Congress comes to Asia

coinciding with the Centennial

Celebration of Lasallian pres-

ence in the Philippines.

Graduating students and Faculty

conduct Medical Mission in Makati

Fifth year students and

Faculty members of ANHS

spearheaded a Medical Mis-

sion last December 15, 2011 at

the San Carlos Seminary Gym-

nasium as early Christmas treat

to respond to the medical

needs of over 100 residents

from Brgy. Viejo, Guadalupe,

Makati City.

volunteer doctors and nurses

who assisted to make the activ-

ity possible.

There was also tutorial

for kids on how to properly

wash their hands and brush

their teeth while their parents

were being consulted by the

doctors.

The Medical Mission

lasted for five hours. Bad

weather did not deter the vol-

unteers including alumni in

meeting the medical needs of

our brethren. The activity was

collaboration of graduating

students, faculty, and Basic

Ecclesial Community (BEC)

with Miss Ana Ria Aguilar as

Social Concerns Moderator.

Three organizations

Tan, and Computer Club led

by Mr. Edser Reños merged in

order to provide venues for

students to enhance their skills

in the subjects mentioned.

Activities and contests

include Chalk Chromatogra-

phy and Floating Paper Clip

for Science, Sudoku for Math,

and Digital Poster Making for

Computer.

This year’s English

Week 2011 held last Septem-

ber 19-23 was truly remarkable

as it celebrated 100 Years of

Sharing Stories. It was full of

surprises from launching to the

awarding.

Students from the Aca-

demic Department were able to

express themselves through

various classroom activities

like Poetry Reading, Group

Improvisation, Spelling Bee,

Essay Writing, and Caught

Speaking in English. This year,

a new contest was launched,

the Best Literary Dress. Stu-

dents wore costumes represent-

ing their favorite writer or lit-

erary character from the litera-

ture of their respective year

level. Winners of this contest

English Week 2011 celebrates

TVET classes were

also visited by English teach-

ers. Spelling Bee and Tongue

Twister Challenge were con-

ducted for ten minutes. The

activities aim to highlight the

significance of being commu-

nicatively competent in Eng-

lish and encourage students to

speak in English. Filipino Gen-

ius or much known as “Pinoy

Henyo” was also done at the

Promenade during the award-

ing of winners for various ac-

tivities.

The whole English

week truly marked an impres-

sion, and everyone waits for

next year’s activities. The cele-

bration was spearheaded by the

English teachers Miss Junelyn

R. Domingo and Miss Berna-

dette P. Nolasco together with

Uhay, Punlad, and Ripples.

AghaMath.Com strikes again

the members of Federation for

the Elderly in Mandaluyong

City last November 25, 2011

for the Reach-out called

“Ugnayan sa Matatanda.”

Students could not

help but notice the victims of

fire who live just across the

venue Hardin ng Pag-Asa. It

served as temporary shelter for

evacuees.

“Good morning” was

the greeting of the Federation

President who believes that

they are still not in the da-

pithapon of their lives even if

they are already old. It is just a

beginning of new journey. An

interaction between the stu-

dents and the elderly was done

to allow participants to learn

from each other.

Everyone was eager to

join the games like Pinoy

Henyo, Longest Line, Cala-

mansi Relay, Pukpok Palayok,

Paper Dance, Stop Dance, and

Bring Me. Winners were given

prizes coming from donations

of students. Sunshine Santillan

and Dante Gorembalem of 3-A

served as hosts of the activity.

As the Program for

Deaf Learners has reached its

8th year, various activities

were lined up last November 8

-11, 2011 to celebrate the dis-

tinct identity of the growing

number of Deaf Learners in

ANHS with the theme

“Discover Signing.”

The Moderator of the

Program for Deaf Learners Mr.

Baldwin Noelito Que, Inter-

preters for the Deaf, and mem-

bers of Deaf Buddy Club

spearheaded contests such as

Deaf Poetry and Signed Music

Video. There was also an in-

formative Alternative Class

Program (ACP) on Raising a

Deaf Child attended by stu-

dents with Rev. Christine S.

Fabian as the resource speaker.

The ANHS Deaf Week

is an opportunity for the Deaf

to celebrate their community

language, culture, and history

and to make LSGH community

aware of their uniqueness and

recognize their talents and

achievements.

kami sa Tanza, Cavite para sa

isang Coastal Clean-Up.

Marami ang nagboluntaryo

para sa gawaing ito kagaya na

lamang ng mga mag-aaral at

ilang guro mula sa ANHS at

Day High School.

Nakaramdam kami ng

pagkadismaya sa lugar sa a-

ming pagdating. Napakaitim

ng tubig dagat. Napakadaming

halo-halong basura sa dalam-

pasigan ang aming nakita.

Hindi namin alintana ang

kainitan at tirik ng araw na ani-

mo'y unt i -unt i kaming

nasusunog. Nakita namin dito

ang pagkakaisa ng lahat na tu-

long-tulong sa paglinis ng

Inang Kalikasan. Walang bahid

ng hirap ang makikita sa aming

mga mukha. Lahat ay na-

kangiti at masayang pinupulot

ang iba’t-ibang klase ng bas-

ura. Isang bagay ang hindi

namin malilimutan ay noong

pinagtulungan na buhatin ang

isang puno ng niyog na

nabubulok at aming inilagay sa

tabi ng dagat. Ito ang aming

munting naiambag sa pagtu-

ating karagatan. Kahit mahirap

ay masaya kami.

As the year ends, we Filipinos start writing our New

Year’s Resolution. The act aims that we change for the better

through improving our old self. We list down promises which we

think could bring us luck. We include in the list the vices we had

done in the past year, and we promise not to do them again in the

coming year. Though the goal is good, its success still relies on

every individual’s commitment to change.

I will not smoke. I will avoid going out with my friends

during school days. I will refrain from drinking too much. I will

not cheat. I will not speak ill against my friends and neighbors. I

will not gossip. I will study harder. I will do my homeworks and

submit my requirements on time. I will work harder. I will be a

better person. I will save money for my family. I will go to

Church every Sunday. I will participate in political affairs. I will

treat people with respect. These are some of our do’s and don’ts.

And the list goes on.

Not everything we have written would be 100% done. We

tend to postpone because we know that there is still time left for

us in the coming years. And the cycle goes on. It really takes

courage for someone to change because it is not easy. We have to

be tough on ourselves and to possess the discipline needed if we

want to be better individuals. Before we write or even plan to do

something , we must think hundred times if we can concretize it.

The list serves as a contract for the year. If we think we cannot do

it, never mind because we are just fooling ourselves.

New year, new beginning. May this serve as a reminder

for us to change our bad habits and lifestyle towards a better life

not only for ourselves but for others as well. Let us stop from just

thinking, writing, or saying our resolution, but we start doing it.

Let us invest for our future.

There is a rule in the handbook that students are not allowed

to smoke within the vicinity of LSGH. Included here is 300 m away

from school. The teachers even explained in the General Orientation

that students cannot smoke if they are in Robinson’s Galleria or even

in Unimart Greenhills. One important thing stressed is that students

are not allowed to smoke in those areas especially if they wear the

school uniform.

Reports have proven that some students are smoking under

the overpass or even outside POEA. Some even say that the moment

they get out of LSGH gate they smoke while riding on their motor-

cycles. Some stay in UNO just to smoke. These areas are still cov-

ered by the school vicinity.

How is the rule on smoking supposed to be implemented?

How does it apply to students? What are the sanctions? These were

some of the questions of students who reported to us incidents of

smoking upon seeing some students violating the rules of the school.

They even say how can the school prevent this if they do not put

sanction to students who do it.

We wrote this for the administrators and teachers to be aware

of what is happening and be more vigilant on this issue. Others sug-

gested if they cannot comply with that rule, just remove it then.

Paano nga ba tayo inihahanda ng edukasyon tungo sa magan-

dang kinabukasan? Tunay na ang edukasyon ang magiging sandata natin

sa ating pagharap sa buhay na puno ng pagsubok. Ang sabi ng ilan ay

hindi na raw kailangan ang edukasyon sa buhay ng isang tao. Mahusay

na diskarte na lang daw ay puwede na. Ang diskarte ay hindi sapat upang

tayo ay magtagumpay. Edukasyon lamang ang makapagbibigay sa atin

ng kaalaman na siya nating magagamit sa araw-araw nating pakikihamok

sa buhay. Kailangan nating linangin ang kaalaman upang ito ay yuma-

bong at maging kapaki-pakinabang na sangkap sa ating pagharap sa iba’t

-ibang pagsubok sa buhay. Itinatanong ng marami kung paano natin ma-

gagamit ang ating mga natutunan sa paaralan sa ating mga pakikipagsa-

palaran sa buhay. Paano ito maisasagawa? Simple lang, gawin ang tama

at nararapat. Ituwid ang mga kamalian, sikaping iwasan na ito ay maulit.

Gamitin ang bawat natutunan upang makapagturo din sa iba. Bawat isa

sa atin ay maging mga guro na handang magturo ng mga kaalaman para

sa ikatatagumpay ng bawat isa, grupo, at bansa. Ang isang tao na may

sandatang kaalaman ay hindi kailanman matatakot na harapin ang bawat

pagsubok na darating sa kanyang buhay.

Kasamang itinuturo ng edukasyon ang pagmamahal, paggalang,

at tamang pakikipagkapwa-tao na siya ring itinuro sa atin ni Hesus. Edu-

kasyon rin ang tanging kayamanan na hindi mananakaw sa atin ninuman

at maipapamana natin sa ating mga mahal sa buhay. Edukasyon ang

maaari nilang magamit sa pagtahak nila sa matinik na landas ng buhay.

Nakakalungkot isipin na marami na ang nawawalan ng pag-asa

at ganang mag-aral dahil sa mga magagastos na proyekto na maaari na-

man sanang iwasan. Ang panawagan nila sa mga guro ay bawasan ang

magagastos na proyekto. Humahanga ako sa ibang mga guro na puma-

payag at humihikayat na gamitin ang mga lumang materyales para sa

proyekto upang maiwasan na ang paggastos. Batid naming ang kanilang

hangarin ay makatulong at makapagturo at hindi ang magdagdag ng pa-

hirap sa dati nang naghihirap na mag-aaral. Sana ay magsilbi silang in-

spirasyon ng mga mag-aaral na nawawalan ng pag-asa na makamit ang

edukasyon na kanilang tanging sandata tungo sa minimithing tagumpay.

Iba't-ibang klase ng tao ang ating nakakasalamuha araw-

araw. Parte na ito ng ating buhay. Sa ayaw at gusto natin may du-

madating sa ating buhay. Maaaring isang istranghero na hindi natin

alam kung ano ang maidudulot sa atin. Andyan ang tipong unang

kita pa lamang natin ay paghanga na ang ating naramdaman.

Ngunit, bakit mayroong tao na kahit wala kang ginagawang ma-

sama ay may masasabi pa rin sa iyo na kung anu-ano? Wala

kang kamalay-malay na mayroon palang may ayaw sa iyo. Hindi

mo mawari kung may nagawa ka bang mali o kasalanan upang

ganunin ka. Ano nga ba ang dapat gawin kung ikaw ay nasa

ganoong sitwasyon? Hahayaan na lang ba? Palalampasin? Mag-

bingi-bingihan na lamang? Mga tanong na kay hirap sagutin para

sa taong nakakaranas ng ganito. Ano nga ba ang dapat?

Kahit ganoon pa man, mayroon pa ring klase ng tao na a -

ting makikilala na magtuturo sa atin ng mga mabubuting bagay.

Sila ay magbibigay sa atin ng inspirasyon upang patuloy pa rin

tayo sa pagharap sa mga hamon ng buhay.

Kahit minsan lang sila dumating o dumaan ng saglit sa at-

ing buhay ay malaking bagay naman ang naidulot nila sa atin. Sila

ang maaalala natin na kahit minsan ay may mga taong nagpahalaga

sa atin at pinahalagahan ang mga bagay na ating nagawa kahit ito

ay munti lamang. Sa oras na kailangan na nating malayo sa kanila

ay hindi natin maiiwasan na tayo ay malungkot sapagkat sa atin

sila ay napamahal na. Isipin na lamang natin na ganyan talaga ang

paglisan ay may mga pangyayari na tatatak sa ating buhay at dala-

dala natin kahit saan man tayo mapunta. Samu't-saring mga tao na

ang ating nakakasalamuha. Nagkakaiba lamang kung ano ang

naidulot nila sa atin. Ito ay maaaring mabuti o masama depende sa

uri ng tao.

Happiness is what everyone wants to achieve in the end. It

means experiencing contentment in life by having a bright future

with someone. Love makes the world go round. It is as simple as a

mathematical equation: you and me, me and you. But for some,

finding someone to share their life with is not that easy. It is wait-

ing for a train to come in a bus stop or looking for a needle in a

haystack.

Maybe sometimes you are just too blind to see the one

standing right in front of you or neglect the one who lends his

shoulder for you to cry on whenever you are feeling down and sad.

Sometimes love comes around when you least expect it. At some

point you will think that maybe it was not for you and soon you

will realize that you let it go without considering that maybe he or

she is the one. Sometimes I forget to thank the people around me,

the ones that have been there making me happy, giving me advice

when I needed it, and sharing their life with me.

A friend asked me one day, “what makes you happy?” I

looked at him and I did not know what to say. For me happiness is

being with my family or with people that I love. Sometimes it is

not enough just to be surrounded by family and friends. You have

to have God inside your heart. It is good to have something or

someone as inspiration. Falling in love with somebody is like

dreaming. A prince charming or a princess came from a faraway

castle to sweep your feet away. That is the product of reading too

much fairytale books. But when the right time comes you will feel

the magic that it could bring, butterflies inside your tummy. All of

a sudden the world will stop from revolving and there he is, stand-

ing right in front of you. That is reality the moment you fall in love

with someone. Embrace happiness as you journey together.

We humans are born lovers. We are able to love and be

loved by someone. We easily fall in love with someone we like.

There are times we keep on loving others, but in the end, they will

just leave us or we will leave them for some valid reasons. By this

action we will come to think that a person leaves his/her partner

who has a problem. It may be psychological or emotional.

But do we even think for a minute if we really love our-

selves? In my opinion, some people just do not know how to show

their love to their partners because they do not even know how to

love themselves. For some, love is just a game that people play. It

means that they are not really serious about what they are doing.

Immaturity. What else could be my analysis about that? There are

really adults who up to now are immature because they are afraid

of commitment. If I remember it right, if we love, we commit. The

reason is we enter into a relationship. We both have an obligation

to respond to each other.

Others may say that something is missing when they love.

What is missing is the love they should have for themselves. It is

not wrong to love. Do and think rightfully and do not give it all.

They should leave something for themselves.

Loving oneself is important because through this, you are

able to love someone sincerely. And you may know who you really

want and what you want to do. You will not change partner from

time to time because you saw traits that you did not want. By lov-

ing yourself you will be able to respect yourself and others as well.

If you respect others you will not have a chance to hurt others be-

cause love together with respect makes a God-fearing person.

PANITIKAN

Ano nga ba ang batayan para tawaging perpekto ang isang tao? Posible nga ba tayong maging perpekto o sadyang imposibleng mang- yari ang bagay na ito? Ang tao ipinanganak o nilikha bilang kawangis ng Diyos. Sabi nga ng aming CL Teacher “lahat tayo ay tao pero mahirap ang mag-pakatao.” Tama nga naman ang sinabi niya dahil sa napakaraming da-hilan, isa na rito ang kapaligiran. Sa isang komunidad ay mahirap ipaglaban ang sarili mo lalo na kung nag-iisa ka lang kaya minsan nag-papadala ka na lamang sa agos para hindi maiwan. Isang magandang halimbawa ay ang paaralan. Minsan may mga guro na mataas ang ekspektasyon sa isang estudyante lalo na kung ang estudyante ay mahina at alam na hindi makakalaban. Sinasamantala ng mga tao ang kahinaan nito at dahil dito ay hindi niya maipakita ang tunay na sarili dahil sa takot na magalit ang mga tao sa kanya. Pero minsan tumatali-was ka sa gusto nila at dahil sa pagtaliwas mong ito ay tiyak kata-pusan mo na. May mga guro na ginagawa ang lahat para hindi magtagumpay ang isang mag-aaral na tumaliwas sa kanyang kagustuhan. Mahirap ipaglaban ang ganitong bagay lalo na kung ang mag-aaral ay walang kakayahan. Mahirap din namang magbulag-bulagan at magbingi-bingihan sa mga ginagawa sa iyo pero mahirap din ang manahimik na lamang lalo na kung naaapektuhan na ang pag-aaral at ang buhay mo. Mahirap din namang lumaban kung hawak niya ang kinabukasan mo. Kaya ang gagawin mo na lamang ay magtiis at manahimik hanggang sa ikaw ay makapagtapos. Isa itong magandang halimbawa na ang tao ay mahirap ihulmang perpekto kahit na anong kapaligiran ang meron siya, maganda man o hindi, mabuti man o masama. Walang taong per-pekto. Ang tao kahit na hindi perpekto ay dapat pangatawanan at gampanan ang pagiging kawangis ng Diyos. Sabi nga nila “Nobody is perfect but we are trying to be at least perfect bringing with us the like-ness and image of God.” Huwag maging kuntento sa pagsabay sa agos. Subukan itong salungatin at maaaring maging kakaiba ka. Mahirap pero kapag ito ay napagtagumpayan, walang hanggang kasiyahan ang hatid.

Noon sunud-sunuran sa sinasabi ng iba na akala’y tulong sa

kanila. Subalit natuklasang ginamit lang pala sa sariling kapakanan nila upang umasenso, nanggamit at nanlamang sa kapwa.

Sabi nila ang karma ay para sa mga taong gumagawa ng ma-sama. Bakit mayroong tao na ang gawa’y manlamang at magsinunga-ling sa kapwa subalit hindi naman nakakarma?

Habang natututo sa paaralang ito, marami ang natutunan at napag-isipan na hindi dapat maging sunud-sunuran na lang kung ano ang ipasya ng iba. Dapat magkaroon ng sariling kapasyahan at maging handa naming harapin anuman ang kahihinatnan. Huwag pumayag na maging “puppet” ng sinuman na pagdaka’y wala naman palang totoong malasakit sa iyo.

Madaling sabihin sa sarili na ikaw ay hindi nagkakamali ngunit hindi pala ito makikita ng sariling mga mata. Ibang tao ang makakakita ng iyong ginagawa. Minsan, kung sino pa ang gumagawa ng kabutihan siya pa ang napapasama. Kaya marami ang nakukulong nang walang sala dahil sa katwira’y mahina at talo sa bibigang pagsa-salita. Kaya hinuhubog sa eskwelahang ito ang buong pagkatao upang makaharap sa tao ng may katatagan, tiwala sa sarili, at makapangat-wiran ng may katapatan.

Gaya ng sinabi ng isang taong kilala, “Huwag mong ibigay ang iyong kalayaan kahit kanino at huwag matakot sa pagsasabi ng ka-totohanan.” Nawa ito ang magsilbing lakas at inspirasyon ng bawat isa upang patuloy na ipaglaban ang kalayaan at katotohanan.

My Own

Everything was working normally for the workers of Normal Garments Factory. They came early, did their thing, and left afterwards. Everything in the factory was like a habit for every employee. Even during payday was like a routine happening every 30th day of the month. They lined-up outside the H.R. Office, waited for their turn, and accepted the cold cash inside the brown envelope. Employees did not care about their receipt or the computation of their salary, but not Rizalina, or Lina to her friends. She checked it every payday. Rizalina, having no spouse, was worried about the future of her two children. She wanted them to finish their studies and not end up illiterate like her. She was not able to go to school because her parents could not afford to send her to school. That’s why she worked so hard to provide for her family. She sewed the dream of having a good life, just like every Filipino who landed on a blue col-lar job. Upon receiving her salary, she immediately checked the receipt inside the envelope. She noticed that there was a deducted amount on it. However, it did not indicate where it went or what it was for. Lina was confused whether to talk to the management or let the things to happen again and again. She was aware that the company was violating their rights. They were taking advantage of those employees because they knew how much they needed to work. Finally, she decided to talk to them hoping that the management would be kind enough to understand her. As she entered the Personnel’s Office, she immediately saw a strange looking, white haired man. That was Mr. Norman Manggoyo, their operations manager. The situation added fear to her because the manager looked so mad at those few people he was talking with. Mr. Manggoyo’s voice was so loud that anyone who would hear it would tremble in fear. Seeing that, she asked herself, “Do I really need to open this to him? It happened for so long, what if I let this out of my mind?” But her mind shouted something, “If you will not talk to him now, how long will you let that happen to you and to the other employees?” She pursued her plan of talking with the manager. “ Ahm, good evening, Sir!” she said cheerfully. “Oh yes! Mrs. Bagumbayan. It is already eight in the evening. Supposedly, you are out by nine. What brought you here?” Mr. Manggoyo responded without looking at her. “Sir, I just want to clear something.” “And what is that something?” Mr. Manggoyo interrupted. “I noticed that my salary is lacking some amount. I just want to know where that money goes Sir? I mean is there something that you need to de-duct?” “I don’t know about your salary, all I know is it is the accounting that you need to talk with about that.” Mr. Manggoyo said, smiling arrogantly. “Oh yes, I came to Accounting Office and they said that it was you who I need to approach about these things.” “And what do you mean by that, Mrs. Bagumbayan?” he stood up and slammed his table. “Are you trying to say that I’m doing something on your sal-ary?” he asked. “No Mr. Manggoyo. That is why I’m asking this…I’m thinking if there are some deductions that I forgot.” But the manager was already mad. “Damn you! Why are you saying those things to me? I am earning money so why should I do that?” he shouted. “I didn’t say you did anything. And don’t shout or say bad words. Yes! I am just your worker here, but you don’t have the right to speak to me like that. I respect you, please don’t force me to say something that will hurt you,” she said. “Damn you! I am the manager and the owner of this company. I have all the right to say anything that I want to say. I can do whatever I want to do. And by that I am saying… you have to find another job because I am kicking you out of this work!” he said. “B…But I need this job!” She said unknowingly vowing her head and tears started to fall. “So you still need this job? Huh!” asked Mr. Mangoyo. Lina nodded. “Ok, I’m giving you back your job, in one condition. You will follow all my rules, you will not say anything to other employees against this company, and you will not act anything that will lead me to kick you out.” He said while turning his back to Lina. “On Monday you can continue working here if you agree with my conditions,” he added. Then Lina walked out the door, puzzled. “By the way, Mrs. Bagumbayan, your pride will not feed your tummy.” He told Lina. As Lina was walking towards her home, she thought about the condition of the manager. “I do not have savings to spend if I stopped working and look for another job. We would all get hungry, and my children would need to stop going to school. Oh God, what will I do? Please help me.” Early Monday morning, as soon as the cocks cackled, she prepared herself for her load of work. She decided to go back to the factory. “I need this job more than anything else. I guess Mr. Manggoyo was right. Pride won’t feed me and my family. Maybe that is the reason why the other employ-ees do not bother themselves looking at their receipts, because they’ve already been blinded by the reality that fighting the authorities will not help them im-prove their lives. It is the way of life. No money and no knowledge mean no power,” she thought.

Noong ika 20-21 ng Oktubre ay ginanap ang Sportsfest

2011 ng mga mag-aaral ng ANHS sa St. Benilde Gymnasium.

Dito nagpaligsahan ang mga estudyante sa ibat-ibang palaro. Ipi-

nakita ng bawat manlalaro ang kanilang talento at buong husay nila

itong ipinamalas. Ang overall champion sa taong ito ay ang TVET,

1st runner up ang 5th year, at 2nd runner up ang 4th year. Sa huling

araw ng Sportsfest ay inanunsyo at ginawaran ng parangal ang mga

nagsipagwagi sa bawat laro.

Ang mga nagsipagwagi sa ibat-ibang larangan ay ang mga

sumusunod: Sa bagong laro, Futsal ay nagkamit ng gold ang 2nd

year, silver ang TVET, at bronze ang 4th year. Sa Arm Wresting

Women’s Division naman ay nagkamit ng gold ang 4th year, silver

ang 1st year, at bronze ang 5th year .Sa Arm Wrestling Men’s Divi-

sion ay nagkamit ng gold ang TVET, silver ang 5th year, at bronze

ang 1st year. Sa Track and Field 4x100 meters Relay ay nagkamit

ng gold ang TVET, silver ang 5th year, at bronze ang 1st year. Sa

TVET itinanghal na kampeon sa Sportsfest 2011

ang 3rd year. Sa Chess ay nagkamit ng gold ang TVET, silver ang

1st year, at bronze ang 5th year. Sa Dart Mixed Doubles ay nag-

kamit ng gold ang TVET, silver ang 5th year, at bronze ang 3rd

year. Sa Tug-of-War ay nagkamit ng gold ang 5th year, silver ang

4th year, at bronze ang 1st year. Sa Volleyball ay nagkamit ng gold

ang 4th year, silver ang 3rd year, at bronze ang TVET. Sa Basket-

ball ay nagkamit ng gold ang 2nd year, silver ang TVET, at bronze

ang 5th year. Ang itinanghal na MVP sa larong Futsal ay si Jessel

Plazuela ng 2-B, sa Volleyball ay si Anthony de la paz ng 4-B at sa

Basketball naman ay si Edward Mitra ng 2-B. Natapos ang gabi sa

panalangin at pag awit ng ng Alma mater. Naging matagumpay at

masaya ang ginanap na Sportsfest 2011 sa pangunguna ng Student

Council at ni Gng. Rosemarie V. Katipunan.

We pray for all the victims of typhoons in 2011. May God grant our nation

strength as we face life’s adversaries. Let us keep the faith alive in our hearts and

never lose hope. May we not cease to help others as we live by generosity with St.

John Baptist de La Salle as our inspiration.

(DLSZ) last November 22,

2011 to witness WIZUP

(Academic Festival 2011), an

interactive exhibit called The

World in a Train.

The exhibit aims to

provide opportunity for stu-

dents to showcase some of

their best and most impressive

projects this school year. The

invitation was extended to the

different night schools of La

Salle for them to experience

also the oral presentations, in-

informative exhibits, creative

performances, and relative vid-

eos.

Students found the train

concept quite intriguing at

first. Participants were given

five minutes per station to lis-

ten to the project presentation

of students and to interact with

them. The projects showed the

students’ hardships, creativity,

communicative competence,

and interpersonal skills.. Each

station had a distinguished

mark depending on the subject

being presented.

“I did not expect that

their exhibit is different from

the usual exhibit we have in

school. I just hope that one day

we will invite them in our

school and have our exhibits

showcased as well,” said Ger-

son Francisco of 3-A.
