Hello Friends!!

I hope everyone is enjoying their day. It was a pleasure seeing many of you at Fall District

meeting in Parke County. I’m thrilled Spring District 2015 will be held in Putnam County. I’m

sure this will be one of the best District meetings homemakers have ever seen. I’m always

inspired when I learn about projects and talent produced from the club members within Putnam

County. So I write to tell everyone keep up the good work, your hard work is definitely

appreciated.

In hopes of making things easier for you, we have agreed to serve as a Coat for Kids

donation center. With that being said, please feel free to drop your coat/clothing off at our

office.

Club News and Notes: Allspice enjoyed a recent lesson on how to make wrap sand-

wiches; Better Homes held their July meeting at the Walden Inn and took a Mystery Trip in

August; Boondock Pals donated candy for the Homemaker Parade Entry and had a family

picnic in the park for their August meeting; Club 16 had a garden party for their August meet-

ing, and Gini Boyce won the contest for best garden hat; Community Service also took a

Mystery Trip in August; Country Bak‘n Bunch held a recent meeting at Starbucks and

learned how to make Starbucks copy cat recipes from Jennifer Romalia; Family, Friends,

and Fun hosted return guest Jessica Smith, and are working on items to sell at the Arts and

Crafts Show; Friends and Neighbors helped with this year’s Bakers Best and made a do-

nation to “Shop with a Cop”; Happy Scrappers welcomed new members Karen McCullough

and Megan Miller, and enjoyed a card making lesson led by Jane Stevenson; Heritage

Heartland celebrated their 40th anniversary with lunch at Charbono’s in Avon, and celebrat-

ed several “0” Birthdays as well (a 40, 80, and two 90s!); Homemakers Anonymous made

a donation to the Dagan Everman Service Dog Foundation and learned about Umami; North-

ern Town and Country Lights installed officers into their newly joined club and learned

about passing on family memories by Rita Reffett; One Stitch at a Time are planning a

retreat and a trip to see Hummingbirds; Sew Many Stitchers held a pitch-in dinner at the

Putnam County Museum that included 12 members and 5 guests; Wild and Wacky Em-

broiderers brought a clock to their lesson and learned to embroider a clock face onto their

Hi again my Homemaker Angels,

It’s almost fall again—how time flies when you’re busy! We have a lot coming up the next few months.

Remember September 23rd is Achievement Night at the Fairgrounds. October 8th is the leader lesson

“Think Spice” at 1pm. I’m teaching this class so I hope to see a lot of you there. Also October 13-16th

is Extension Homemaker Week. We are going to meet at the Putnam Inn on the 15th at 11:00am for

lunch (pay your own). I would love to see you there, too. Also be collecting coats, hats, and gloves for

the annual Coats for Kids event which is coming up in October. Other upcoming events include the

“Cooking Made Easy” lesson on November 5th and the Arts and Crafts Show on the 7th and 8th. Have

a great Halloween and a blessed Thanksgiving holiday.

Fair Wrap Up Another fair has come and gone! This year the Adult Open Class had a total of 916 entries. That is down a wee little bit. Last year we had 920 entries. Ladies Day was a very successful day. The ladies of Allspices assisted by Club 16 did a wonderful job and it was a fun and interesting day. We would like to acknowledge the lovely stage decorations and how nice it was to have that peaceful setting to daydream to during the week. The purse auction and Baker’s Best contests were big hits again this year. The funds we bring in help to support our program and the building. We were able to donate $1,000 to the heating and cooling fund this year and have the new quilt railings as well as the quilt hangers made. We think that was a beautiful improvement to the building and also a much needed addition to show off all of the work that folks put in to their quilts. The fair may last for only a week but we work on it year round. We are always happy to have more help so if you would like to be more involved please let us know.
