Q6. TECHNOLOGIES

During the Film making course, there have been numerous amounts of technologies

which we have used to help produce a smashing final product.

These technologies range from software such as; Final Cut Pro, Garageband,

Camtasia, Blogger, Vimeo, Prezi, Slideshare, Safari and even Flickr.

We also used Technologies such as a JVC digital video recorder, memory cards, still camera flip camera, video drive, Apple Macs and lighting.

Final Cut Pro was one of the main sources of technology we used. This piece of software allowed us to place the shots we had taken for the film and put them on a set timeline, hence giving us a strong base for editing. After setting the shots down in Final cut Pro, we set out to order them and also shorten them where necessary. Once we finished setting the shots down and ordering them, we set about adding special effects such as cross dissolves, slowing down speed and even adding a nice negative blue effect to help create a sinister effect.

To help us with constructing the Film opening, we used the technologies specified in the previous slide in combination with each other.

Another main source of technology that we used in the production stage was the JVC digital video recorders. We used this technology to film, so obviously it is an important asset to the production of our Psychological Thriller film opening. Not only did we use the JVC digital recorder to film our film opening, but we also used it to film our Prelim.

One other Technology that we used was the software ‘Garageband’. Seeing as we needed to produce a soundtrack, and  we had no previous producing skills, we questioned YouTube until we found our answer  What it came up with was Garageband, a piece of software that luckily, City and Islington Sixth form provides. We watched the tutorial and hence found out how to use it.

In conclusion, we believe that the overall usefulness, creativity and effectiveness of the technologies that we used were to a high standard. Our shots were quite good, we used many over the shoulder shots, we followed the 180 degree rule when filming with the JVC digital video recorder and our editing using software such as Garageband and Final cut Pro was superb if we may say so ourselves. There were however some shots in the final product that we could have re-filmed if we had more time. Also if we had more time, there were some bits of editing that we do add to the final product like additional shots to make our film opening longer and also we would have spent more time using Garageband to produce a better soundtrack.

Conclusion
