    The Beavers had obviously

    MESSAGES AND NOTESCHAIRMANS NOTE

    Hi,

    The AGM is reported on

elsewhere which means that Ican simply say a big thank you

to Paul and Clive Graham forall their hard work and com-

mitment to the Group over the

    years. Paul has stepped down

as Group Scout Leader and is

    replaced by Clive but thankful-

ly, both are remaining on theExec Committee so we do not

    lose their valuable experience.

The key to the next 12

months, at least for me, is to

try and support the sectionleaders by relieving them of

some of the tasks that takethem away from their core

function. To that end, I am

    very grateful that Nathan Mar-

tin has agreed to lead a smallteam to consolidate and devel-

    op our fund raising activity

    thanks Nathan!

    Looking ahead, the key role

    for the sections is additional

support to the cub pack. Notonly is the role very rewarding

in its own right, it also repre-sents a great opportunity for

someone to develop their lead-ership, planning, problem solv-

    ing and communication skills

with a view to enhancing their

    opportunities in paid employ-ment.

    If you know of anyone,

male or female, who is looking

for an opportunity to developsuch skills, please point themin our direction and we will

explore with them the oppor-tunity that the scouting leader-

    ship programme represents.

Who knows, it may be the de-

ciding factor in securing a job

or a promotion in these diffi-

    cult times.
