Alumni dinnerth
On Saturday, 11 November, 2017, Phoenix Market City Kurla, saw a huge gathering of alumni of IES MCRC.
Graduating batch of 2001 was welcomed and honored by Chairman, IES MCRC, Mr. Sameer Tamhane and
Director, IES MCRC Dr. Dinesh Harsolekar. Distinguished alumni award was given to Mr. Pinank Turakhia.
The event concluded with a gala dinner. The evening saw a gathering of around 400 alumni. It was indeed an
evening of memorIES.
Insight 2017th
IES hosted its annual pharma event titled Insight on Monday, 18 December, 2017. The Chief Guest of this
event was Mr. Biplab Chatterjee - Chief Executive Officer , BPPI, Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi
Pariyojana. The response was overwhelming this year, with highest number of student registrations in recent
years. Students from pharmacy, biotech, microbiology, biochemistry, clinical research & management streams
participated. The event included Panel Discussion based on the central theme, Q & A sessions, followed by
competitions. In all, there were 39 entries for Poster, 37 for Quiz and 5 for Ad competitions.
Distinguished alumni award was given to Mr. Pinank Turakhia by Chairman, IES MCRC,
Mr. Sameer Tamhane and Director, IES MCRC Dr. Dinesh Harsolekar

ndof Sun Pharma Excellence Award went to Ms. Sharmin Calcuttawala and the 2 prize to Mr. Karan Rajgor. The Gold Medal for Best Live Project by Interlink Marketing Consultancy was awarded to Ms. Swamini Bhogale. The Best Summer Project Report Award by ACG Worldwide went to Ms. Sharmin Calcuttawala.

After the success of the previous workshop, a similar 2 day workshop jointly done with NTHU and funded from th th
Govt. of Taiwan on “How to Do Business in India” was conducted on 27 and 28 November, 2017 in Taipei, Taiwan. This workshop too was held keeping in mind the Taiwanese Business People. Approximately 80 people attended this workshop in which 11 topics related to doing business in India was covered. A Master Class onFinancial Literacy was organized by CII th th
YUVA on 16 and 17 October, 2017 for our IES MCRC YUVA Members (1st Year Students). More than 75 students were a part of this master class. Mr. Mihir Mehta, V.P., Ashika Capital & Founder at Fintuned was the guest speaker. The students got a good understanding of Financial tools and applications. As a result students got to appreciate use of finance irrespective of specialization.
thOn Friday, 10 November, 2017, Mr. Manish Advani, Head – Marketing & PR, Mahindra Special Services Group addressed a batch of 50 of the current students of IES MCRC who are also YUVA members. Mr. Manish Advani spoke extensively on inclusive innovation and how public relations is important today before any projects or products are launched. He stressed on networking and reaching out to people as points of success.

Annual celebration of YUNTECH Universityth
On 25 November, 2017, YUNTECH University invited Dr. Mohan B. Rao and Dr. Minu Mehta to visit them for ththeir 27 Annual Celebration in Yunlin, Taiwan. In the inaugural address Dr. Mohan B. Rao talked about IES and
its collaborations. Dr. Rao addressed a crowd of 500 people comprising of faculty members and students of
YUNTECH University.
Interaction with Counsel General of Switzerlandth
On Monday, 11 December, 2017, there was a session of Experience sharing of visit to Switzerland for the CST
2017 students, who were 14 in number. The venue was Consulate General of Switzerland, Makers Chambers IV,
Nariman Point, Mumbai. The speakers were the Consulate General of Switzerland and Management Team.
Thanks to Dr. V. Rangaraj, Advisor Aditya Birla Group, Prof. Mohan B. Rao and the students who visited th th
Switzerland from 26 August, 2017 to 5 September, 2017 got an opportunity to share experiences of
interacting with Swiss companies and also about Switzerland. The consulate General invited the next batch of
students to meet him before they leave for Switzerland in August 2018.

HRYTHM Club : Blood Donation Camp
thA Blood Donation Camp was organized at IES MCRC on Thursday, 30 November, 2017 in association with Lions
Club and Think Foundation. The event was successful because of the active participation of the 18 students of
our Institute from the RYTHM club. The students coordinated and managed the event responsibly. This event
gave them an opportunity to get a hands-on experience in event planning, promotion and management. In all,
there were 62 blood donors which included our students and external donors. 80 students were tested for
Thalassemia. There was also a talk by Mr. Vinay Shetty, Founder member of Think Foundation on Awareness
about Thalassemia, its importance and check up.

Alumni Mentoring
In addition to mentoring by faculty members, this year, we
began, for the first time in our Institute, mentoring by
alumni. In all 24 alumni members volunteered to be
mentors of our students. Each mentor has either 8 or 9
mentees under them. The first interaction between them
took place in IES on 14th October, 2017 and 11th
November, 2017. Thereafter, meetings and discussions
have been taking place regularly at a time and place
mutually convenient for both mentors and mentees.
Career Counseling
To guide the Undergraduate students form the field of
Pharmacy and lifesciences, a career counseling session was rd
held on Saturday, 23 December, 2017 at our Institute. This
activity was organized as a sequel to INSIGHT 2017 to
answer the several queries expressed by students. 107
students had registered forthis activity. Prof. Ulhas
Karkhanis counseled the students on “Careers in Pharma
and Healthcare Industry”. The discussions were long,
interesting and useful as per feedback. The students who
came for this session comprised students from pharmacy,
biotech and lifesciences streams.
Summer Projects PresentationrdA session was conducted on Thursday, 23 November, 2017
with an objective of guiding the junior students on how to
prepare for their Summer Internship projects. It covered
various aspects like Do's and Don'ts, knowledge and skills
required, how to choose a project and other relevant topics.
The session was greatly appreciated by the students.The
event was attended by a total of 92 students from MMS,
PGDM and PGDM (PHM) course.

The following activities were conducted by the Marketing Club of IES MCRC :
Operations Club
The operations club of IES MCRC conducted an on-line quiz
competition. The response from other management
colleges was overwhelming. More than 200 teams
participated in quiz. From these teams, 10 teams were
shortlisted for next level that is the case study competition,
wherein they were asked to send their presentation on the
case. Three best teams were called to campus for
presentation. Winning team was from K. J. Somaiya College stof Management. 1 runner up was from Sydenham Institute
ndof Management Studies and 2 runner up was from L. N.
Welingkar College of Management.

Outbound Training at Kolhad
Learning is not confined to just classroom teaching. And to help our students realize this, the newly admitted
batch of 2017 -19 underwent a Leadership and Teamwork workshop in the spectacular mountain setting of rd th th thKolad in 2 batches, 3 October to 6 October and 6 October to 9 October, 2017. The students experienced 3
days of extensive training which were both physically and mentally stimulating. At the end of the three days,
students had a greater degree of unity amongst them and an attitude of self confidence.

Accolades : Winning isn't everything, but wanting to is!!
Mr. Amey Puradkar secured the prize for the Best Communication Award (Trophy + Cash Prize of Rs. 5,000) at Pratibha 2017 (National Level Summer Project Competition) organized by V. M. Patel Institute of Management, Ganpat University, Mehsana, Gujarat organized on November 24-25, 2017.
Three of our part-time students participated in 'Prakalpa' Intercollegiate Project Presentation Competition for MFM/MMM/MIM/MHRDM students organized by St. Francis Institute of Management. Ms. Priya Meghani secured the second position in MFM category and Mr. Ganesh Naik secured the second position in General Management category. They were guided by Prof. Devaki Nadkarni and Prof. Mrunal Joshi respectively who also received second place certificates for being the project guides.
stMs. Shreeya Sondur and Ms. Mehkala Laud secured the 1 Runner Up place at the 14th National Competition for Young India – 2017 organized by All India Management Association. The theme was Our Idea and Action Plan for a Developed India .
Mr. Viren B. Khatri and Mr. Shounak Bafna were the Campus Winners of the online Biz Quiz competition GNOSIS 2017 organized by XLRI Jamshedpur.
