4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research,

planning and evaluation stages?

The main piece of technology I learnt to

use was SlideShare. I was able to upload

documents and powerpoints to put them

onto my Blogger.

I learnt about downloading copy-right free music for my

movie trailer which I had difficulty during my practice

video for my school. Before I tried to do the music for

my A2 movie trailer and went back and practiced for it on

my school video. I learnt about websites such as;

soundbible.com and freeplaymusic.com which allowed me

to add in sound effects and a soundtrack for the trailer.

An example of what I have learnt is using Serif PhotoPlus

X6 instead of Serif DrawPlus X5 for making my movie

magazine main image. In AS for my music magazine I did have a picture of my sister for

my main image but I had a blank background, I just filled it as a colour. When I did my

research for A2 I looked at magazines such as ‘Diabolique’ and ‘Empire’ to suit the

genre of the magazine which is movies. I noticed clearly that the background wasn’t

plain like I had done in AS but had a scene in the background that was likely to be

based in the movie in example; Women in Black included Elm Hurst House. So using this

I choose to make my magazine cover background the woods because it made it more

effective than AS. When you walk into a shop your eyes are attracted to the bright

and nice magazine covers so you pick it up to have a look by changing my background in

A2 it makes it better out of the two. It hopefully makes it stand out from the other

movie magazine by having an effective picture on the front.

I also learnt from AS how to fade the image so it travels down the page, I used Serif

DrawPlus X5 to do this as I am a little unsure whether you can do it on Serif PhotoPlus

X6 so I edited the images on PhotoPlus X6 and copied them onto Serif DrawPlus X5 to

create the cover as an image.

The main thing I learnt in A2 that I didn’t know how to do in AS was add copyright free

music to Serif MoviePlus X5, I found a website www.soundbible.com which allowed me

to get sound effects like; a heartbeat. After feedback I went and looked at my

research again looking at the Women in Black and noticed that it included a short

amount of time about 7 seconds and had about 9 or 10 quick shots without blackouts in

between them. I followed this and included a jack in the box non-diegetic sound behind

it, the reason being is because the jack in the box sound can mean that anything can

appear and jump at you at any moment.
