Sally McManus Question four How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? I used many different media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation such as an SLR camera to film our music video, Photoshop to edit and construct my ancillary products, premiere to edit together shots to create my main piece and many other technologies. The SLR camera was excellent for filming shots for our main piece due to it having the ability to film in high definition as we decided by doing this it would make our main piece look more professional although we found some limitations when coming to due premiere to edit the shots together as due to the shots being in high definition and the software we were using not being brand new we found it took a little longer than expected although once done it looked all came together nicely. Using Photoshop to edit my ancillary’s again was excellent due to the wide range of effects available from the programme it allowed us to manipulate our images and font we added to just how we wanted it and was very easy to do so. We used YouTube to search through thousands of songs until we finally decided upon one, we then used a YouTube to MP3 Converter to download the selected track (Back To Black – Amy Winehouse) for our main piece. This was a quick and easy way for us to eliminate which songs we do/don’t want and eventually narrow the thousands down to one and the converter made it simple to get the track in our files all we then had to do was import the mp3 into premiere for it to play in the background of our

Question fourHow did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

This was a quick and easy way for us to eliminate which songs we do/don’t want and eventually narrow the thousands down to one and the converter made it simple to get the track in our files all we then had to do was import the mp3 into premiere for it to play in the background of our video.

We used many other media technologies in the creation of our main product such as iPhones to shoot some shots however we found the definition of the shots to not be as good as with the SLR and it also had many limitations whilst uploading to the computer and importing into premiere so we decided to re-film all the shots with the SLR to keep a consistency of high definition throughout our whole music video. Due to the increase in technological convergence throughout the last few years it made researching for ideas for our main and ancillary products a lot easier and faster due to there being websites such as YouTube we could easily search for music videos of the pop genre and compare them to how we wanted our music video to be and also use other websites to view previous digipacks made for other real artists of the pop genre to see how they have laid out their CD’s / posters.
