R4T7 Course of StudyRapid change in todays world places
unprecedented demands on todays students. This course addresses
critical literacies needed by our students now and in the future.
Knowing how to learn, how to find and use information, and how to
present knowledge and understanding are integral to the learning
process. This course teaches students competencies that will serve
them as learners by building literacy skills, teaching them how to
apply digital learning tools to research, cultivating their ability
to communicate new learning effectively, and using information
gained through research ethically.
Goals of the classBy integrating units of study with the whole
class novels being read in the core English classes, we begin to
develop theme. Students will be exposed to and study the themes
through essential questions and informational reading to begin to
generate their own ideas. Research skills will be imparted
throughout the units. Four Units of StudyUnderstanding Disabilities

Alignment to the Parcc With high stakes testing in the LA and
Math areas with the new Parcc assessments, the district knows that
more time on tasks and classwork that will replicate the Parcc
assessments will better prepare our students for the new testing
environment AND will develop college and career readiness skills at
a faster pace and will have deeper meaning to each student.
Supplies:You will need:-One binder (1 inch to 1 1/2 inch) with
inside pockets-4 tab dividers ( one for each unit of study )-One
marble notebook Journal ( stays in the classroom )-One report cover
