Several issues concerning the expand- ing has been discussed during the past weeks: the ris- ing sealevel threatening the new settlement on Western Harbour, desification of existing structures within the city and the urban sprawl “eating” it’s way into the valuable farmland. 4 3 2 1 Looking into densyfying along an already established connection, the cyclepath between Malmö and Oxie, in order to limit the uncontrolled sprawl. The area is about to be taken over by area intensive businesses such as transport companies and cardistributors. The ringroad also has an impact on the area. Cutting through the landscape, with only one possible cross- ingpoint for walkers and bicycles, it clearly states that this is not a place meant for people to stay. With an estimated need of 100 000 new dwellings, filling in the narrow streach between Fosie and suburb Oxie is a possibility. When facing the future, could the area be looked upon avsa frontier - a meet- ing place or point of contact - a common ground, rather than the limiting and ex- cluding boundary it appears to be? INVERTED MAP Apply a new layer connecting the green structures. The red sites are points of interest; diverging programs that could work together with, or benefit from, a new public layer of semi-natural character. A combination of densifying by building and densifying by planting, will establish edges along the open area. Enhancing the presence of open fields of productive and recovering land in the middle of the industrial area. NEW CONNECTION A forest is established on the rim of the zones, densifying by planting. The forest is spreading in between the buildings., and a trail through is established to make it accessable for all, creating a crosscon- nection between the existing bike paths running through the area. Streaching all the way through the area, you could actually take a 3,5 km walk in the forest. A shorter more efficient path is also established, running inbetween the zones and open fields. The path is al- ligned with alleys of birch trees.

With 100 new inhabitants imigrating every week, Malmö is growing - fast.
