Building Update This week we have had access to the back field and new court area! It was great to see so many children playing ball and running games in the area. You may not know, because they are up on the roof, but we do have solar panels installed in our school. We also have large water tanks in the north eastern corner of our school and alongside the Hall. We are still working through the completion of the project with graphics and some other bits and pieces still to be completed. We are getting closer and closer to celebrating with an official opening. School Development Day As part of our Visible Learning project, staff worked on the qualities we want to see in our learners during the School Development Day. Stage teams also spent time collaboratively planning. Lots of fabulous discussion and collaboration took place. Semester 1 Reports Don’t forget that teachers are available to meet with parents to discuss Semester 1 Student Reports. Please contact your child’s mentor teacher or the relevant support teacher if you would like to organise a meeting. Where have you put your child’s Semester 1 school report? Where are their NAPLAN and/or Best Start report(s)? To enable you to find these important documents quickly, keep them in a file or folder. Stewart House Clothing Appeal Stewart House is public education’s number 1 charity. Each year 1 800 public school children in need go to Stewart House from many parts of NSW and the ACT. During their stay, children are provided with optometric, dental and medical treatment as well as emotional support. This is balanced with health and educational programs and out of school activities to boost their self-esteem and to promote a healthier lifestyle. Children in the care of Stewart House attend a specific purpose school onsite for 8 days of their 12-day stay. The NSW Department of Education provides infrastructure and staffing support for this school. All other costs associated with the children’s stay are met from charitable donations.
Many teachers donate money each week through salary deduction and Stewart House also holds a number of fundraising initiatives. Today, a bag was sent home for the Stewart House clothing appeal. Please fill it with any unwanted but usable clothing and return it to school on Friday 2 August before 9.15am. Please place bags in the area near the main gate (there will be a sign). NOTE: The bags are collected in the morning so please do not deliver bags after 9:15am. NAIDOC Week NAIDOC Week is a celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The theme for NAIDOC week this year was VOICE. TREATY. TRUTH. As part of the celebrations Stage 3 took part in a video conference run by the Sydney Opera House where they learnt of the life and story of Bennelong.
Change Of Information Have you moved over the holidays? Changed your phone number? Have your child’s medical needs changed? Have your emergency contacts or their phone number changed? Please notify the school in writing of any changes so that we have the most up to date information should we need to contact you. If you have changed your address, please make sure that you bring proof of your new address.
