Jayawant Shikshan Prasarak Mandal (JSPM) was established in 1998 with the objective of

creating centers of excellence for education in the field of Engineering, Medical, Pharmacy,

Management, Computers etc. This is by the vision of Prof. T.J.Sawant, an Electrical Engineer who

thinks that, "Development of Techno – Entrepreneurial Society" is the key to achieve VISION 2020

as perceived by our Former PRESIDENT of India Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Prof. T.J.Sawant is strongly convinced that establishment of excellent technical institutions is the

solution to the problem of development of techno-economic society. Driven by a mission of

providing an excellent quality education, JSPM's Society has left no stone unturned in setting up

Educational Institutes in Pune. At present there are six Campuses :

JSPM's RSCOE was started in the year 2001 with just three courses and an intake of 150 students.

In a short span of just 11 years the college now conducts 5 under graduate and 7 post graduate

courses, 4 polytechnic courses and 3 PhD programmes with total annual intake of 1284+ students.

It may thus be seen that the college is steadily progressing and accomplishing its goals. The college

is regularly overhauling and periodically replacing old/outdated equipment and modernizing its

laboratories. The management gives highest priority for creating quality infrastructure to maintain

pace with latest developments and availability of state of the art equipment for students for the

newly started as well as old courses.

To satisfy the aspirations of youth force who want to lead the nation towards prosperity through

techno economic development.

To provide, nurture and maintain an environment of high academic excellence, research and

entrepreneurship for all aspiring students which will prepare to face global challenges maintaining

high ethical and moral standards.

Entrepreneurial development today has become very significant; in view of its being a key to economic de-velopment. The objectives of industrial development, regional growth, and employment generation depend upon entrepreneurial development.

Established in the institute on 10th July 2008, the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC – Cell) is functioning in the college with the intention of nurturing entrepreneurship skills of the students. The cell provides a platform for the students to pursue entrepreneurial activities and also provide assistance to po-tential entrepreneurs.

With the prime goal of developing responsible professionals out of engineers, the training cell strives to assist every aspiring professional on every single aspect of placement activity Viz. Aptitude, G.D,P.I. etc. by grooming & nurturing their soft skills through training sessions and mentoring on regular basis.With active involvement of studentcoordinators, the Training & Placement cell strives to reach companies across industries and place our students in companies of repute.

The cell is dedicated for development of entrepreneurial spirit among the students of RSCOE and to moti-vate students to choose entrepreneurship as of the career option.

Structure of Training & Placement Cell

Inception of T&P Cell :

Training and Placement cellhas been established in the year 2005-06. The cell works closely with all the branches of Engineering, MCA & MBA at RSCOE. One of the objectives of Training and Placement cell is to identify the gaps between Industry and Academia and to sensitize the management, faculty and students about the same. We conduct regular training programs on both Functional & Technical Skill Development. Over a period of last twelve years the T&P Cell has changed its approach and working style understanding the changing needs of corporate. The students are groomed on different activities like counseling sessions, training by industry experts,guest lectures, industrial visits, internshipsand projects etc., which culminate in the final placements of our students. Today, we can say, we are available for our students virtually 24*7 and 365 days. Apart from face to face counseling and mentoring sessions at our office, we have created a discussion platform on face book. It makes their life easy as they can reach us all the time with their prob-lems.

Philosophy:

We believe in reaching maximum number of students on campus especially when they are in pre final and final years of their course and sharing a roadmap of how to go ahead by sharpening theirskill sets. We try to understand their strengths and weaknesses. We give them an orientation of what kind of companies may visit by the time they reach final year and what kind of expectations these companies may have from stu-dents. We make a conscious effort to connect final year students with their immediate senior batches so that they can benefit from their experiences during their campus days. In such a scenario our facebook forum becomes very handy.

We ensure that for every candidate who is going to appear for the first company, has gone through at least couple of mock interviews with us. This helps us to identify the strong and weak areas of our students. We

get to know the best of the talent we have for the said year and on parallel grounds, we plan special sessions for the students to overcome areas of weakness.

Separate meetings with the final year students are conducted branch wise just before the placement season. This is the platform where we sensitize the students about company profile, job profiles they offer and try to unleash, the hidden expectations of organizations.

Based on certain standard parameters like technical and communication skills, we categorize our students into different categories which helps us in placing right candidate at right place. Based on the potential of the students, specific skills are nurtured and their lacunas give us the opportunity to train them on skills which need improvement. Students are placed in variety of profiles like technical developers, tech support, non-technical profiles etc based on their caliber.

• A dedicated 10 days workshop for Final Year Students which covers Aptitude, Paragraph Writing, GD, PI and Mock Interview. The objective of this workshop is to produce maximum number of offers on Day1.

• Our Alumni also take active part during the mock interview process.

• Japanese Language Course on the campus. Around 150 students are now part of this initiative.

• Session by TPO: We try to give them a roadmap by which they may have clarity about how to go ahead with the campus interview process. The things they need to prepare and any doubts they have with respect to a hiring process of a particular company. Counseling on opportunities for higher education abroad.

• Formation of Clubs like Coding Club, Automation & Robotics Club and AutoCAD Club etc.

Preface:

An entrepreneur is an owner or manager of a business enterprise who makes money through risk and ini-tiative. The main objective of the EDC is to remove the apprehension and to encourage to become as many entrepreneurs as possible. It provides the new opportunities for igniting the students’ minds to start and run their enterprises and create the job opportunities for others. It helps out in developing sustainable growth of the country as well as the development of the entrepreneurial competencies and capabilities these events.

ED cell at RSCOE is established in the year 2008 .Inaugurated on 10th July 2008 at the hands of JSPM Tathwade Campus Director Dr.P.P.Vitkar. The ED Cell works in coordination with Training and Placement Cell under the leadership of Prof. Santosh Borde , Training and Placement Officer , RSCOE .The Entre-preneurship Development Cell (EDC) is functioning in the college with the intention of nurturing entre-preneurship skills of the students. The cell provides a platform for the students to pursue entrepreneurial activities and also provide assistance to potential entrepreneurs.

To create successful entrepreneurs who will contribute to the growth of nation and society by transforming themselves from job seekers to job creators.

Mission of ED Cell :

To instill the passion and spirit among students to pursue entrepreneurship.

Objectives of the E.D. Cell:

1. To create foster and promote the spirit of entrepreneurship and to develop entrepreneurial in-stinct among youth.

2. To identify and train potential entrepreneurs among students.

3. To create an environment of self-employment and entrepreneurship development.

4. To disseminate knowledge and insights in entrepreneurial theory and practice through lectures activities and workshops.

5. To seek tie-ups with Non-profit Entrepreneurial organizations connecting the EDCell to global network of entrepreneurs.

6. To create a strong network of successful entrepreneurs who would like to guide budding entre-preneurs.

7. Create awareness on Entrepreneurship among the students through training program and camps.

8. To facilitate budding entrepreneurs by providing information on entrepreneurial opportunities.

9. To create data base and networking to help entrepreneurs.

10. To help entrepreneurs to acquire necessary managerial skills to run the industry effectively
