Telangana

Telangana is a state in India situated on the centre south stretch of the Indian Peninsula

on the high Deccan Plateau. It is the twelfth largest state and the twelfth most populated

state in India with a geographical area of 112,077 km2 (43,273 sq.m).

Hyderabad

Hyderabad is the capital of the state of Telangana in India.

At over 6.8 million, it has the largest population of any city

in the state. It is also known as city of pearls or city of

Nizams.

History : The original city of Hyderabad was founded on

the banks of river Musi. Today that area is known as Old

City where Mecca Masjid and Hussain Sagar Lake exist.

Geography : Hyderabad is situated at the Deccan Plateau,

500 meters above the sea level and most of the area is rocky.

Paddy is the main crop grown and other crops include

Bengal garm, grandout, sugar cane and sunflower.

Climate : Hyderabad has a hot and dry climate. The monsoon or rainy season is from

late June until late October.

Population : The city has an estimated population of around 8 million, making it 4th

largest city in India. 9 million. Religiously and culturally, the city is united with Hindus,

Muslims and Christians.

Culture :

Architecture : 1. The Charminar has long been the icon of

Hyderabad. The name means “Four minarets”. The towers rise

to a height of 48.7m above the ground.

2. The Golconda Fort was the capital of the Qutb

Shahi Kingdom. In the 16th Century, it was the

centre of a busy diamond trade. The outer wall of

the fort is around 10 km.

3. Chowmahalla Palace or Chowmahallatuu (4

Palaces), is a palace of the Nizams of Hyderabad

state. The palace was built by Nizam Salabat Jung.

This place named chowmahalla, means four

palaces. The word char, and its variation chau,

means four and the word mahal means palace. The

palace is located in the old city in Hyderabad near

the Charminar.

The UNESCO Asia Pacific Merit Award for

cultural heritage conservation was presented to

Chowmahalla Palace on 15 March 2010.

4. The Salar Jung Museum is an art museum

located in the city of Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

It is one of the three National Museums of India.

It has a collection of sculptures, paintings,

carvings, textiles, manuscripts, ceramics, metallic

artifacts, carpets, clocks, and furniture from Japan,

China, Burma, Nepal, India, Persia, Egypt, Europe

and North America.

5. Falaknuma Palace : The Falaknuma Palace was

built in 1893. This distinguished place was built

in the shape of the scorpion with two stings spread

out on either side that look quite like wings facing

the north. An ideal blend of the Italian and Tudor

architecture, this palace is among the rare

architectural styles even today.

6. Birla Mandir : Pristine white, taller than the

tallest of the city and magnificently lit, such is

the splendour of the Birla Mandir of Hyderabad.

Completely made out of marble, the temple is

dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara.

7. The Buddha Statue : A trademark structure

of the city, the Buddha of Hussain Sagar

overlooks the entire city. This structure is one

of the largest monolithic structures in the world

and weighs about 350 tons. This statue stands

tall in the middle of the Hussain Sagar Lake

which is legend in the city in itself.

8. HITEC City : The Hyderabad Information

Technology and Engineering Consultancy City,

abbreviated as HITEC City, is an Indian

Information Technology, Engineering, Health

Informatics, and Bioinformatics; business

district located in Hyderabad. HITEC City is

spread across 200 acres across the suburbs of

Madhapur, Gachibowli, Kondapur, Manikonda

and Nanakaramguda, the technology township

is also known as Cyberabad.

Facts : Hyderabad city is known for its rich

history, food and its multi-lingual culture.

Hyderabad and Secunderabad are twin cities,

separated by the Hussain Sagar (bound by the

`Tank Bund’), a manmade lake made during the

time of Ibrahim Qutub Shah in 1562.

Mechal District :

Medchal - Malkajgiri carved out of Ranga Reddy

District, the new district of Mechal - Malkajgiri is a

true blend of all the requisite components that make

an ideal district. It embraces a wide range of

industries, education institutions, and natural

resources. One can find a delicate fusion of the urban

and the rural in this new district. Mechal - Malkajgiri

is a well connected district with 3 national

highways and 2 state highways apart from many

roadways running across the district. The district

can be described as the link between Hyderabad and

the north Telangana.

Medchal - Malkajgiri district, with 22.5 lakh

population, is the second most populous district in

the state of Telangana, standing next only to

Hyderabad District (40 lakhs). The district

comprises of 2 revenue divisions and 14 mandals.

Medchal is the headquarters of the district. Lush

with urban forests, pilgrim centres like Keesara

Gutta and multiple recreational resorts, the district

is a weekend attraction for many in and around the

city of Hyderabad.

Rampally is a village in Medchal District in

Telangana, India. It falls under Keesara Mandal. The

languages spoken are Telugu and Urdu.
