Who is Tested?

•Administered, annually, to all English language learners in Georgia, in grades K-12

•All ELL students must be assessed

•ELL-M students must not be assessed

ACCESS for ELLs• ACCESS for ELLs meets the NCLB

mandate for assessing ELL students in their progress in learning both social and academic English

• ACCESS for ELLs and the English language proficiency standards upon which it is based were developed by a consortium of states referred to as WIDA, with technical assistance by the Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL)

ACCESS for ELLsIs a Secure Test: Maintain security prior to, during , and after testing. All

test materials are to be kept secure and confidential. Teachers and other school personnel are responsible for ensuring that no materials are duplicated and/or shared prior to or after testing!

System Test Coordinators will oversee key elements:Training Packing/UnpackingOrdering Materials AdministrationSecurity Assurances Returning MaterialsCompleting Pre-ID Labels

Collaboration with ESOL/ Title III Coordinators will ensure the process is more manageable

• Test window—January 22- March 2, 2007.

• Administration time - 2.5 hours

Accommodations•Accommodations are permitted for

students with disabilities

•Accommodations may not be provided to students based on their language

proficiency – only SWD with IEPs may have

accommodations

ACCESS for ELLs• Desire 2 Learn (D2L) is a web-based

classroom that provides an online course for test administrators

• All teachers administering ACCESS for ELLs must be “D2L certified” each year. For more info: www.wida.us

Student Information on Testbook

Student Demographic Information

• Special Coding Instructions will be on goldenrod paper placed inside front cover of every School Test Administration manual.

• Teachers must verify pre-ID information prior to applying pre-ID labels. If label is incorrect, discard label.

• State Required Codes (SRC) must be manually-coded for students even if a pre-ID label is available.

Special Coding Instructions

State Defined Optional Data –Use this area to bubble State Required codes (SRC):

• Columns 1 and 2: For students with disabilities, code the student’s primary classification using SRC 1 – 12 or 14-15. Code only one classification. For SRC 1-9 code a zero before the number.

• Columns 3 and 4: Code SRC 16 for students receiving Title I Reading services in a targeted-assistance school; schools providing services on a school-wide basis do not need to code.

• Columns 5 and 6: Code SRC 17 for students receiving Title I Math services in a targeted-assistance school; schools providing services on a school-wide basis do not need to code.

• Columns 7 and 8: Code SRC 18 for students who are Migrant Certified.

Special Coding Instructions

Native Language Code -Use the state-designated codes to indicate the student’s primary language.

State Student ID -Use the student’s 9-digit FTE number; code left to right; do not mark ‘0’ in spaces 10-15.

District Student ID -Use the student’s 10-digit Georgia Test Identification number; code left to right; do not mark ‘0’ in spaces 11-15.
