REACHING OUT…. Issue 59 October 2017 Dear Friends, Today has been a warm September day, and as I have been writing this the sun has been setting, casting a red glow across the fields that have been harvested, and are now being ploughed ready for the new seed. As the cycle of growth begins all over again the wonder of creation continues to inspire me. At the same time, I slightly dread the pulling in of the nights and the ending of British Summer Time. October always feels a bit like the calm before the storm for me, as I look at the following two months and the number of special services that have to be planned for November and December. I am always grateful for the ministry team that we have here in the benefice who share in conducting services, and in preparing and delivering sermons. It has also been great to widen the team that leads worship to include Judy Gifford and Richard Stainer. It has been good to have them leading our monthly family service at Felsham, and it has also been good to see that service doing well. I do hope that some of you who have not managed to come to a family service as yet will give it a try. I’m sure you would enjoy it. As we come to the end of the year, we always review the service pattern in the benefice at our final benefice council meeting of the year. We shall be doing just that at our meeting on 8 th November. Please discuss with your churchwardens any suggestions you may have for the services, and please know all suggestions are carefully considered at the meeting. In this month’s issue of Reaching Out I have included a number of events that are being advertised by the diocese as part of the ‘Growing in God’ initiative. I know that a number of you have already signed up for some of these events, and it would be good if you could let me know what you thought of them, or even write ..…on behalf of the Benefice Churches of Bradfield St Clare, Bradfield St George with Little Whelnetham, Cockfield, Felsham and Gedding
