Description
P&FCO zones protect the ship’s structure, equipment and weapons from accidental damage by preventing pointing and or firing in hazardous areas.

Importance of Integrated Topside Safety
Navy Policy is to fully protect all equipment
P&FCO zones are impacted by the placement of topside equipment Trade-offs between equipment performance and maximized

Clearance Angles for Guns
Because of their high initial velocity and acceleration, gun fired projectile clearances are not significantly affected by factors such as ship motion and gravity
Determine worst case train and elevation clearance angles for each point by taking into account any shipboard condition which restricts the pointing or firing zone Gun blast effects Gun ejected particles
