    14. If you had previously installed the printer driver you may nowwish to delete the new printer object. The newly installeddriver files replace the existing driver files and therefore theold printer object was also updated. By keeping the old printerobject, any settings, overlays, and user forms will be saved.To delete the new printer object, click on the object with theright mouse button and select Delete.

    15. To open the printer object, Double-click the object then selectPrinter and Properties.

    Installation of the printer driver is now complete.

    III. Envelope Printing in Windows 95/98/Me===========================================

    When you design or print an envelope, you must select landscapeorientation. This will ensure that the address prints in thecorrect position on the envelope. To change the orientation toLandscape, make the appropriate selection from the driver's Papertab or Printer Setup dialog box in your application.

    IV. Application Limitiations==============================

    Some applications, such as Corel Draw, Lotus 123, and many Adobeapplication including PageMaker, Acrobat, and Illustrator, generatePostScript language directly instead of using the Windows GDIinterfaces to the printer driver. As a result, some of thefeatures of this driver do not work with these types of applicationsunless the Disable PostScript Passthrough control is enabled inthe PostScript tab of the driver property sheet. However, enablingthis control can cause the output of the application to lookdifferent, can take longer to generate and create a larger outputfile size. Features that may not work include Overlays,

    Multipage Printing, Negative Page, Negative Image, selectable FillResolution, Output to Fax, Confidential Print, as well as many others.

    Other applications, such as PowerPoint and WordPad, lay a solid whitebackground under the area they want to print. This background canhide Simple Text and Overlay driver features. Specify to print SimpleText and Overlay features on top if you encounter this problem.

    V. Specifying the Number of Copies===================================

    The Copies control on the Paper tab is independent of a Copiesoption that may be available in the Print dialog box of yourWindows application. Usually, specifying the number of copies inthe printer driver Paper tab prints uncollated copies faster.Specifying the number of copies from your Windows application mayslow down printing but may enable you to print collated copies ifyour applications supports this feature. Specifying a multiplenumber of copies in both the printer driver Paper tab and theapplication Print dialog box should be avoided since it mayproduce unpredictable results.

    VI. Specifying the Scale========================

    Some Windows applications directly provide a scaling option. Withsuch an application, you should try leaving the printer driverscaling at 100 percent and set the desired scaling in theapplication. If this does not produce satisfactory results, then setthe desired scaling in the printer driver and set the scaling in theapplication to 100 percent. Using variable scaling factors in bothsimultaneously may produce unexpected results.

    VII. Downloading Overlays==========================

    An overlay is a template that can be defined and then printed as abackground on a form before the data from the current job isprinted. For instructions on downloading an overlay, see the Helpsection in the Paper tab of the printer driver property sheet. Ifyour overlay contains an image, you must ensure that the data is beingsent to the printer as Ascii 85. This option can be selected in theprinter driver's PostScript tab. It must be set both when creatingand downloading the overlay.
