Ring Brothers Marketplace is a gourmet food store located in

South Dennis, Massachusetts that consists of seven individually

owned specialty shops offering fresh produce, Cape Cod

seafood, specialty food and drinks, and more.

Established in 2002, this unique concept was designed to put

“all the best under one roof.” They created a store where

customers would find the highest quality food sold by small,

mom-and-pop family businesses.

From petite shopping carts and special in-store events to flat-

screen televisions delivering in-store entertainment, Ring Bros.

prides itself on creating a “fun place to shop” and a customer

experience that stands out from the rest.

With a growing business and increasingly busy summer

vacation seasons, Ring Bros. had the challenge of meeting

shopper demand with an outdated DOS-based system that

frequently broke down. In addition, the store needed to

integrate their extensive rewards program—complete with

mobile marketing—into their system, which was not designed

to handle such detailed transactions.

The slow transaction process from the point-of-sale (POS) and

long lines began to frustrate shoppers. Ring Bros. needed a

flexible POS solution that would be scalable enough to handle

new business and future applications for years to come.

Ring Bros. turned to NCR partner CCR Data Services Inc. to

provide a refresh to their front-end operations.

Ring Bros. selected a POS solution, installed by CCR, including

NCR Advanced Checkout Solution (ACS), NCR RealPOS™

DynaKey™ user interface, and NCR peripherals including

printers and the NCR RealPOS High Performance Scanner/

Scale.

Ring Bros. chose this solution for its ability to simplify and

automate their manual customer rewards process, the high

reliability of retail-hardened NCR ACS software and hardware,

and streamlined associate training which saved labor dollars.

With the user-friendly NCR RealPOS DynaKey, and the

outstanding service reputation and response time of CCR, the

checkout time became more efficient and reliable.

The NCR POS solution allows Ring Bros. to speed check out,

particularly rewards transactions, resulting in increased

efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Ring Bros.’ customers accumulate rewards points throughout

each month and receive a coupon once a predefined

threshold is reached. NCR ACS was able to accommodate

this program automatically, whereas their previous system

required extensive manual work. Ring Bros. also wanted to

include an expiration date on each coupon, an important

aspect of managing their rewards system. With the help of

NCR’s solutions specialists, Ring Bros. was able to deploy that

additional functionality.

Improved checkout speed and store productivity

The refined cashier and consumer interface designed by NCR

Human Factors Engineers helps provide reduced associate

training time and calls for assistance, which increases cashier

confidence and productivity.

NCR ACS also helps boost productivity with the solution’s

workbench. Store managers can spot and resolve business

issues quickly without the need to analyze large amounts of

data.

Enhanced customer loyalty

NCR ACS offers a fully featured, flexible POS solution that

helps retailers differentiate the shopping experience for their

customers. A Consumer Marketing module enables powerful

promotional pricing programs with or without a shopper

loyalty card. The module helps retailers implement customized

loyalty programs to attract and retain the most profitable

customers.
