Chapter One: Introduction

Are you ready to free yourself from the constraints of the past? Is this your time to step into

doing what your soul really wants you to do, or if you are already doing that, to do it more fully?

And are you ready to claim the power to be in your calm, loving center - no matter what?

If you feel a resounding YES to any or all of these questions you will find a treasure here.

This book is written for people who want to free themselves from fear, in all its faces, so they

can experience being fully alive and open to love. You will learn new ways to awaken your

potential for a zestful, fulfilling life that makes a real difference to others.

This book will help you get much clearer on why you have felt the things you have been feeling,

and why it has often seemed so darn hard to free yourself from self-perpetuating inner pain and

stress. Knowledge is power. As you come to understand the influences that we have allowed

to pollute our pure and peaceful center you will be empowered to take back your inner peace.

Your calm center is what keeps you grounded and secure within yourself. It is the perfumed

garden within your soul where you always know yourself to be OK, no matter what dramas of

life are swirling around you. Your calm center is your fountain of self-love, the part that can say

“no” when necessary to people and situations that are not good for you.

Being in frequent touch with your calm center is one of the greatest blessings, because this is

your personal Heaven that you bring to Earth. Being in touch with your calm center blesses

every aspect of your life and all your relationships.

Being in touch with your calm center does NOT mean that your outer life will remain calm and

uneventful! You will still experience a lot of exciting and disruptive things, and all kinds of ups

and downs. It DOES mean that you can enjoy a measure of inner peace through it all. And

even see it all as fun - and laugh more.

Let’s start with a bit of self-inventory. How much in touch with your calm center do you feel now,

on a scale of 1 - 100? On this scale the 100 end would be very connected - like a fully

enlightened Buddha who keeps his cool and radiates love no matter what. The closer you are

to the other, low end of the scale the more you would tend to be lost in inner angst. People

who feel way out of touch with their calm center are like the proverbial “leaf blowing in the wind”.

Their emotions are totally at the effect of outer circumstances and other people and they feel

helpless to take charge of their experience.

On the average, where has your consciousness been? It is good to take stock of this now and

record it so you can appreciate the transformation that can happen as you follow the

suggestions in this book.

In Chapter Three I will share why our minds and computers have a lot in common, because both

can run “buggy” and “corrupted” programs. This will give you a new way to understand chronic

stress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to

computer viruses.

Trying to “opt out” of this stress-based system has been very difficult up to now. This is

because most people are trying to use the mind and the healing systems it has created to heal

the mind. This has usually had the effect of making the stress programs even more resistant!

Kind of like using fire to fight fire, as the old expression goes.

I was part of the generation that was talking and demonstrating about peace and love back in

the 1960’s. As time went by we noticed that there remained persistent parts of us that were far

from that. Many of us have searched for ways to heal our inner pain and resistance through

spirituality, materialism, acts of service and more. Yes few people I know really feel that they

have found lasting inner peace.

I am not going to leave you with that dilemma!

This book reflects my own life experiences as well as my countless hours of research and

clinical practice in holistic medicine. There is nothing I have found that heals more rapidly or

effectively than 5D, or Fifth Dimensional healing combined with the practice of self-love and self-

forgiveness. You will learn how 5D is the realm of unlimited possibilities in Chapter Four, and

how your life can be blessed through direct communion with your 5D essence.

This book is divided into two main sections. The first three chapters explore the “WHY” behind

our modern epidemic of stress. Some of this you may know, and some is likely to be new intel

for you. Chapters Four and Five is the solution part. You will learn about the miracle of 5D

healing plus five simple practices you can do to heal yourself and expand your consciousness.

Even a few minutes a day of these practices can make a huge difference in the quality of

consciousness and love in your life.

You will get much more benefit if you read Chapters One, Two and Three first before turning to

the solutions offered in Chapters Four, Five and Six.

Chapter Two

We Are All PTSD

I’ve tried to be conscious and intentional for years, why do I still feel like crap?

“PTSD”, or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, is now affecting millions of people in every walk of

life, not just veterans returning from war. An unprecedented overload of electronic digital

stimulation, economic insecurity plus a planet full of seemingly unsolvable problems has made

living in a state of chronic stress the new normal.

There are many people in positions of power and authority that have deliberately contributed to

this epidemic of PTSD because it increases their wealth and power. Does that piss you off? It

should - enough to take a stand and say ENOUGH! More about that later.

I have been an acupuncture physician and spiritual healer since the 1980’s. I have also studied

with several master healers and spiritual teachers. Through all this I have met and listened

either directly or indirectly to the experiences of thousands of people seeking healing and inner

peace. Guess what – at the emotional core of most seekers are feelings of disconnection,

often mixed with varieties of shame and internalized trauma.

Here is a quote from Jane, a 33 year old marketing rep in San Francisco:

“I’ve been trying to live a healthy lifestyle and be a conscious human being for years. I’ve

read zillions of self-help books, done podcasts from gurus and experts, taken yoga and

meditation classes and more. But I still feel stressed out much of time and don’t feel good

about where I am in my emotional life. None of my relationships with guys have turned into

what I really want and my stress levels are actually increasing. I was self-medicating with

lots of drinking, but have gotten away from that since my body just can’t handle it any more.

Why is it so hard to feel good about my life and benefit from all that spiritual and self-help

stuff?”

I have heard hundreds of stories like this from my clients, and at times have dealt with my own

version of it.

These experiences are usually intertwined with a lack of self-love, the common denominator of

“feeling like crap”. Those whose experience is dominated by fear and lack of self-love can be

much more easily controlled and manipulated by others. This reinforces those feelings of fear,

shame and low self-worth – a self-perpetuating vicious cycle.

The influences of modern life and new energy shifts on our planet are also bringing old stuff that

had been buried in our subconscious minds up to the surface, and into our brains and nervous

systems for re-processing.

So it is now considered relatively “normal” to feel stressed out much of the time. How we deal

with that varies, and each of us has our “drug of choice” to try to keep discomfort at bay.

Page 6: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

4

Among the Millennial generation (ages 18 – 35) heavy drinking, intense work-a-holism and use

of street drugs is mainly where it is at. People in my Baby Boomer generation (currently ages

51 – 69) abuse substances less, mainly because our aging bodies can’t handle them anymore!

Those that I know turn more to self-help books, spirituality, volunteer work, holistic healing

treatments and staying very busy. These are certainly healthier alternatives to drunken

partying. Yet all of this is still often used to avoid facing our own pain and fully loving and

forgiving ourselves.

So let’s get it straight – whether your drug of choice is marijuana or meditation the deeper

healing you crave won’t happen until you do the real inner work that is needed. Your real inner

work starts when you stop running from your own painful feelings. It happens as you commit to

relentlessly loving and forgiving yourself and others.

Does that sound hard and uncomfortable?

I feel that the most enlightened way to view the recurring issues and challenges each of us

struggle with over long periods of our lives is to see it as our assignment of love. On a soul

level we volunteered to paratroop into this physical reality to bring our greatest love to healing a

chunk of humanity’s collective pain body. We volunteered to do this to help make the world a

better place. That chunk would be the very things that push our buttons the most and require

the most love, patience and compassion on our part. Therefore we don’t have to take our

personal pain personally!

I know, easy to say and can be hard to do. But how hard it seems to do depends on our state of

consciousness. In the third dimensional consciousness of this world it is crazy hard not to take

things personally.

I am very happy to share with you a beautiful gift for personal transformation that makes this

process of growth more inspiring and fun. That is connecting with the part of you that is already

pure and perfect. Yes, you do have that part! And it is actually the “you” that is most real.

When we uplift our consciousness to 5D the abundant love in our hearts becomes our primary

experience. Working with the practices in Chapter Five can help make this much more of a

conscious reality for you.

Experiencing and integrating with the part of you that is pure and perfect is the essence of 5D

healing. It’s like the art of “fighting without fighting” that Bruce Lee demonstrated in his movie

Enter the Dragon. Much less processing and angst and much more love and inspiration.

Sound good?

You will learn about 5D healing in Chapter Five.

The external triggers of stress

Before going more deeply into the magic of 5D healing and the mastery practices I will share

with you, let’s take a deeper look at why it may have seemed so hard to deeply heal ourselves

and do our inner work. You may find some of these insights surprising. Let’s start by taking a

fresh look at PTSD, or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Page 7: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

5

PTSD is characterized by frequent anxiety, insomnia, nightmares, social avoidance and high

sensitivity to stimuli. These unpleasant experiences can be triggered by things that seem

harmless and innocent to most people, such as social mixers, movies, relationship challenges

and unexpected noises. These experiences bring up past traumatic experiences so intensely

that the person re-lives them. Such experiences are called “triggers”.

In the context of this book I am using the term PTSD to describe the state of chronic stress and

mental over-activity that so many modern people live in. There needs to be a distinction

between that and people who have been medically diagnosed with full-blown PTSD, which is

more devastating. Yet even the more “normal” levels of chronic stress can be quite debilitating.

The part of the nervous system

most closely associated with

PTSD is the amygdala, nut

shaped structures in the limbic, or

emotional area of the brain. The

amygdala creates associations

between common experiences of

life and past hurts and fears in an

attempt to protect us from

encountering those same hurts

again. This is useful to an extent

- it is good to remember that

touching that hot plate causes an

“owie” in your fingers, or that

ignoring red flags and dating creepy guys usually ends up badly.

When the amygdala part of the brain is activated by a triggering experience it prepares the body

to respond to danger. It does this by sending a distress signal to the nearby part of the brain

called the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is the major command and control center of the

autonomic nervous system (ANS), the body’s stress response system. The ANS is divided into

two sections - sympathetic nervous system, which activates the body for action, and

parasympathetic, which relaxes the body and quiets it down. Once the hypothalamus swings

into action it instantly gets the body ready to fight or flee through turning on these sympathetic

responses:

● Heartbeat speeds up and blood pressure increases

● Breathing deepens

● Large amounts of glucose (sugar) is released from storage in fat to increase available

energy

● The adrenal glands go on high alert and start dumping adrenaline into the bloodstream

for “fight or flight” response

● Sight and hearing become more acute

● Digestion is put on hold and the immune system is shut down to free up as much energy

as possible for fighting or fleeing

Page 8: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

6

As you can see these are highly appropriate responses when there is real danger, as they put

our body in top shape for dealing with emergencies. The vulnerability of the system is that the

amygdala can go on overdrive and cause us to stay in a state of fearful arousal even when

there is no actual threat facing us. So it is appropriate to get riled up if a real car is swerving

toward you at 70 mph. But it is not helpful if you get tense and anxious any time you are

driving.

This is the dilemma and tragedy of PTSD - the amygdala of the brain gets programmed to

create inappropriate associations of danger and emergency to harmless experiences of

everyday life. This wires our body to be in a sympathetic stress response some or most of the

time. Staying in sympathetic stress mode can be devastating to the body and is associated with

these health issues:

● heart disease

● hypertension

● cancer

● immune deficiency

● chronic fatigue

● fibromyalgia

● chronic anxiety and/or depression, phobias

● all kinds of digestive disorders

● chronic pain

● urge to self-medicate with alcohol or drugs

● over-active mind, making it hard to be in your calm center and be happy

Our modern society is full of triggers that stimulate our stress systems much of the time, and

that is why I called this chapter We Are All PTSD.

What is the cost of all this? The first is the obvious cost in human suffering and death. The next

is the massive economic cost. Expenditures for treating heart disease, cancer and anxiety

disorders in the USA alone total over $640 billion dollars a year.

Now think about the statement I made earlier about why this epidemic is so profitable to certain

people and industries. To put it simply, servicing the results of chronic stress is extremely

profitable to the medical, media and pharmaceutical industries. Not surprisingly,

pharmaceuticals are the most profitable major industry in the USA, leading all others with a 30%

profit margin.

I’ll tell you right now about one of the fastest and easiest ways to free yourself from negative

programing and be in your calm center - turn off your TV! Especially news stations. Watching

the TV news puts you at the mercy of two influences that can increase PTSD-like feelings.

They are:

● Hearing about overwhelmingly negative news from all over the planet that you are

helpless to change, day after day

Page 9: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

7

● The flickering light patterns of TV screens that activate stress-producing parts of our brains and nervous systems

The bigger the TV screen is, the more damaging these are!

Our media is full of disempowering and fear-triggering images - and we are addicted to them.

We need to practice mental hygiene by being more discriminating about what messages we

take in.

In the groundbreaking book The Transfiguration of Our World by Gordon Asher Davidson he

uses the term the “dark cabal” to refer to the financial, political and corporate interests still

invested in greed and keeping the old order in place. They control much of the media and

pharmaceutical industries, and some of them have a vested interest in increasing PTSD, anxiety

and drug use among our population.

The dark cabal figured out a long time ago that if you make people feel fearful, dis-empowered

and guilty, and make them believe that they are dependent on you for their protection, salvation,

forgiveness, enlightenment or whatever, you can control them and gain power and money for

themselves.

I am not going to say a lot more in this book about the cabal, or the conspiracy to increase

PTSD, depression and sickness among our populace. I suggest that you read Davidson’s book

to get a well-balanced, and ultimately optimistic overview of that. His inspiring viewpoint is that

the power of the cabal has already been greatly reduced, and that their days of mischief are

numbered. I am planting the seed of this knowledge here to inspire you to awaken and take a

stand now to free yourself and reclaim your pure center.

Know that reclaiming your pure center is not just for you - it is a courageous spiritual and

political act that touches and helps free all humanity.

Chapter Three

Bugs in our Minds

The Pollution of Our Pure Center

OK, so now you know that our society is wired to increase and maintain stress levels, and what

the cost of that is. What you have just read about in Chapter Two are the external triggers of

stress. Now let’s take a look at the inner conditions that pre-dispose us to be vulnerable to

those triggers. Coming to understand this will empower you, and help you appreciate the

healing power available to you.

We all know how people or countries with superior strength or power can subjugate people or

nations weaker than themselves through the use of force. History and present time news is full

of that.

What is much more insidious, and important for the message of this book, is how we can be

manipulated into defeating ourselves. Similar to a buggy computer, these are caused by a

program running in our minds that keeps re-creating fearful thoughts. It does this most of the

time when there is no real external threat. This program causes us to drain a lot of our energy,

vitality and joy by struggling against ourselves.

Our English language now contains these commonly used terms:

Self-sabotage

Self-defeating behavior

Self-destructive thoughts

He is his own worst enemy

Driving myself crazy

These are common experiences for many of us, to the point of seeming fairly “normal”. Whew.

Imagine for a moment someone visiting Earth from another, highly enlightened planet. This

being studies our culture and language and learns these terms. They would probably have a

very hard time understanding why any being would sabotage or defeat themselves! Yes that is

what we often do with our God-given consciousness.

This brings up some important questions:

Why are people so susceptible to self-sabotaging and self-defeating experiences such as

PTSD, panic attacks, OCD and more?

How do we take on these negative, buggy programs into our minds, and where do they come

from?

Page 11: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

9

How can we free ourselves from these programs and live confidently and joyfully?

Let’s now look at some answers to these questions.

Our Minds and Computers

Our minds work similarly to computers. I’m sure this is because computers were created by the

human mind. Computers process information and run on programs. If the program is well-

written and used properly, it can create great, rapid results that enhance our productivity. If the

program contains bugs (errors) or what computer geeks call corruption, it will cause all kinds of

unpredictable problems and frustrations. And make us spend a lot of time, and maybe money,

trying to get the bugs fixed. Ever feel like throwing your computer against the wall?

I’m going to show you how our minds are also susceptible to bugs and “corruption” that can

make us have a bad day (or miserable life). I’m also going to explain what we need to do to

stop being controlled by these negative programs.

What computers do in themselves is neither good or bad, positive or negative. A computer

simply stores and processes bits of information and regurgitates them as it is directed to do.

Good information in = good information out. Garbage in = garbage out. So if you have good

software loaded into your computer and use it properly, it is a thing of beauty.

That is exactly how it is with our minds and our pure center. Feed positive, loving and

empowering messages and images into it and we enjoy good and harmonious experiences in

our life. Feed disturbing, manipulative and fear-based messages into it and it will create some

variation of PTSD.

I have worked with hundreds of clients in healing sessions. What has come out in most of these

sessions are old hurts and trauma from their childhood, broken relationships and even past lives

that are acting like computer viruses or malware. These old unresolved traumas have turned

into self-replicating programs running endlessly in my client’s minds and hearts. These

programs lower their vitality, mess up their relationships, tear down their self-confidence and

reduce their enjoyment of the Now moment.

Do you ever hear negative, depressing, self-doubting or even despairing thoughts in your mind?

I’ll bet you believe they are your thoughts. You may get further down on yourself for your

“weakness” in even having or giving into those thoughts. The truth is that most of those

thoughts are not actually your own! In his bestselling book The Four Agreements author Don

Miguel Ruiz tells us not to take anything personally, even our own thoughts:

“You don’t need to take whatever you hear in your own mind personally. The mind has the

ability to talk to itself, but it also has the ability to hear information that is available from other

realms… The mind lives in more than one dimension. There may be times when you have

ideas that don’t originate in your mind, but you are perceiving them with your mind. You

have the right to believe or not believe these voices and the right not to take what they say

personally”

Page 12: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

10

He goes on to say why it can seem so difficult to heal ourselves from these negative thoughts:

“Your whole mind is a fog which the Toltecs called a mitote. Your mind is a dream where a

thousand people talk at the same time, and nobody understands each other. This is the

condition of the human mind – a big mitote, and with that big mitote you cannot see what

you really are.”

This quote helps us understand why it can seem so frigging difficult to free ourselves.

Psycho-therapy, acupuncture and other holistic healing modalities are often useful for relieving

various forms of pain and stress, and I have explored them all. But here was the dilemma in

my own path of healing - when I tried to resolve some of the deeper roots of my own inner

suffering the very act of trying to change it seemed to make it even more entrenched.

My process of trying to heal the buggy programs in my mind felt a lot like one of the labors of

Hercules from Greek mythology. That was the one where he was asked to kill a monster called

the Hydra that had multiple, snarling heads. Each time he cut one of the Hydra’s heads off with

his sword and strong arm two more heads grew back in its place! Even after Hercules worked

his butt off cutting a big pile of heads the Hydra was more powerful than ever. One of the Gods

whispered to Hercules that in order to kill the Hydra he would have to stop looking at the scary,

snarling heads and go for its heart. Sure enough, when Hercules plunged his sword into the

heart of the Hydra he finally killed it.

This is what I learned about true healing, and the message of this book - connect with my

essence and stop being so fascinated by my pain and angst. Take my mind off alleged

problems and issues and allow Divine love to re-boot my heart, mind and body directly from

Source. That really works - and is the process I now bring to my clients.

Drivers on the highway often create traffic congestion because they are fascinated by accidents

and slow down to look at them. We do this in our own minds sometimes. What we focus on

expands. Let’s put our precious attention onto what we really want, not what we don’t want.

We have no obligation to keep experiencing stress, depression and PTSD. We only have

these experiences when we agree to keep re-creating them.

The happy news is that we can claim our power to stop creating negative experiences and live

in a much more positive and love-filled reality. In fact, it is easier to do this than ever because

of the new, high-frequency energies of Universal Love now permeating our planet.

Coming to terms with our own power

So let’s get it straight. When we are experiencing various forms of inner stress we are re-

creating it ourselves in each moment anew. So the next big question is why? Why on earth

would be want to keep punishing ourselves like that?

Page 13: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

11

In truth we are creator beings of unlimited love, power and potential. That which we call God

and Divine is within us, and is our own essence. We are much more powerful than we know.

You have probably heard this famous quote from author Marianne Williamson:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful

beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves,

who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.”

And, this quote from the first Spider Man movie: “With great power comes great responsibility”.

While I am at quoting some of my favorite stories, I’ll remind you of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice

section of the Walt Disney movie Fantasia. Mickey Mouse plays a young apprentice of a

powerful wizard. While his master is away, Mickey tries out some of the magic spells he has

learned to make brooms carry water and do his chores for him. Things are going well for a

while until the brooms start going out of control and flooding the place. Mickey’s skill is not

advanced enough to stop them, and so chaos ensues until the wizard returns and instantly

restores order.

What are these quotes and story telling us? That our dilemma is that we have great creative

spiritual power, but few of us have developed mastery in using it. This great power is focused

through the creative power of our thoughts and spoken words. So our susceptibility to anxiety

and self-sabotage arises from our inability to be master of our own thoughts. We can get like

poor Mickey Mouse and create havoc in our lives due to this gap between our inner power and

our ability to direct it from love and wisdom.

Our Pure Center

You know about those hurricanes that sometimes ravage the southeast USA? I lived through a

few of those. Even though destructive winds could be howling at 70 - 150 miles per hour on the

outer part of the hurricane there is always a calm, peaceful area in the middle called the eye.

Birds can fly in a leisurely way in the eye, and airplanes have even been able to fly safely there.

Crazy, huh?

Our psyche also has a calm center - even when we feel emotionally triggered. Our calm center

is always available to us. This is a really good thing because it is very hard, and sometimes

impossible, to control the hurricane winds of our minds. Check out this quote from the God-

man Krishna, as quoted in the Hindu scripture the Bhagavad Gita:

“Oh noble Arjuna, it is easier to tame the wild north wind than it is to control the human mind”

Have you ever tried to not think? Then you will know what Krishna was talking about. Most

people I know talk about their over-active minds or “monkey-minds”.

Page 14: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

12

The key here is not in struggling to control our monkey minds. I and millions of others have tried

concentrating and repeating affirmations until we are blue in the face without accomplishing that

long-term. You know what I mean?

The key is to get friendly with your calm center and learn how to be there whenever you want.

Now these two things, controlling the mind and being in your calm center can sound like the

same thing but they are not. One is an effort to change, which takes enormous energy, and the

other is simply relaxing and being.

As one of my mentors said - grab a pen and hold it in your hand. Then open your hand and let

it fall. How hard was that? That is how easy it can be to let go of inner struggle and be in your

calm center. I will give you additional practices to help you be there in Chapter Five.

Bottom line: no one could get us to pollute our pure center if we truly loved ourselves. When

we truly love ourselves there is no urge toward giving our power away, self-sabotage and the

like. Learning to love and totally forgive ourselves is usually our greatest area of healing.

In Chapters 5 and 6 I will tell about the miracle of 5D healing - just what the doctor ordered.

Chapter Four

“Don’t Throw Me In That Briar Patch!”

The Hardest Form of Love

If you are anywhere near as old as me you no doubt remember the folklore story of Brer Rabbit

and the Tar Baby. In that story Brer Rabbit – a happy go lucky creature – came across a figure

made out of tar who did not respond properly to his greetings. This got Brer Rabbit mad –

because he was a proper Southern gentlerabbit who expected his courtesies returned. So he

smacked that tar baby right proper and got himself stuck up real good with all that tar and could

not free himself.

This was of course a trap laid by Brer Fox, who was hungry and looking to feast upon Brer

Rabbit. Brer Fox came out of his hiding place and started musing about how to kill the trapped

and helpless Brer Rabbit. He suggested several killing methods, including burning Brer Rabbit

alive, hanging him, drowning him, etc. Each time he suggested a killing method, Brer Rabbit

kept saying “Sure, Brer Fox, burn me, cut me, strangle me, drown, but whatever you do, please

don’t throw me in that briar patch!” After a lengthy dialogue along these lines Brer Fox

eventually decided he wanted to do the worst to Brer Rabbit and pulled him free from the tar

baby and threw him right into that briar patch. Brer Rabbit then derided his former captor and

said “thank you Brer Fox! I was born and bred in that briar patch!” and scampered off, free.

Remember that story? Anyway, what point do you think I am trying to make here about love?

Most of us who are not psychopaths give a lot of love and care to our parents, our children, our

close friends and maybe even God, Jesus or our spiritual teachers. We learn at a young age

that people treat us much better when we are loving and kind to them, and that it feels good to

love. Of course that love is sometimes associated with a lot of pain, but most of us keep

prioritizing giving and receiving love.

It seems that the hardest form of love is deeply loving and accepting ourselves. Many people

seem to have decent self-esteem, but at their core they are not really comfortable being with

themselves. Most people go to great lengths to stay busy with activities that keep them

distracted from inner connection. There is nothing wrong with reading the newspaper, watching

TV, staying very busy with activities and goals, having your senses stimulated and enjoying the

company of friends, lovers and family. These are all healthy human activities. But if these were

all taken away – how comfortable would you be simply being with yourself? If there was no one

to give you love and validation and nothing to distract you from simply being with you, could you

enjoy it?

Page 16: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

14

In prisons the worst punishment is solitary confinement. This is truly a form of torture for many

people who have never cultivated an inner focus practice.

So it’s likely that most of us can relate to Brer Rabbit – “That’s OK, make me work long hours,

make me deal with loads of stress, make me jog 5 miles a day, make me drive my kids all over

creation as Super Mom, make me work out at the gym for hours, make me do lots of difficult

yoga poses but whatever you do, don’t make me be with and love myself!!!”

Practicing meditation is a way to learn to enjoy being with your own core. In my experience

meditation is a process of bringing the mind inside over and over again. At first there is usually

a lot of mental activity and random thoughts but eventually my mind relaxes and I start feeling

the pleasure of my own inner space of breath and pure life force.

When I sit down to meditate my ego mind still often sounds like Brer Rabbit: “I’ll think about my

work, I’ll do more chores around the house, I’ll do all those unfinished tasks, I’ll do lots of service

in my community, I’ll make all those calls I have been putting off but PLEASE DON’T MAKE ME

GET QUIET AND GO INSIDE!!”. But here is the magic – once I do make the commitment to

meditate and chant, in a short time I start feeling so good, and once again I realize “I was born

and bred in this briar patch (inner self)”.

Is it easier for you to love others than to love yourself? That seems to be the case for most

people. What I am going to offer next is a very powerful form of meditation. It involves willingly

stepping into your briar patch with love.

Here is a brief guided meditation of self-connection:

Sit down in a quiet place in which you can be in a meditative space. Take some time to relax

your body – progressive relaxation is a good way. Tighten the muscles of each leg, then

release. Then tighten and release the pelvic area. Continue with belly, chest, each arm, neck

and head/face. Breathe deeply throughout.

Close your eyes, tighten your anus and touch your tongue to the roof of your mouth. Release

the anal lock start connecting with yourself. Invoke your soul to guide you in your practice.

Feel yourself exactly as you are.

Is your overall feeling within of comfort and pleasure? Is it of tension? Do parts of you feel

pained or shut down? Do any parts feel numb? Are there areas of physical pain? Just be

aware of yourself exactly as you are – not as you think you could or should be.

Bring your attention into your heart and breathe deeply there. Invoke your own deepest love –

that which you may more easily give to your dog, your cat, your children, God, or whoever or

whatever it is easy for you to love. If you feel that it is not easy to love at all, simply be aware of

this condition and love it unconditionally. Watch yourself from your Witness consciousness,

simply observing what is and loving the exact way you are.

Page 17: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

15

As you find any tight, painful or blocked areas breathe into them and radiate your own love to

them. Give those parts unconditional acceptance – not trying to fix them, ignore them, deny

them or feel bad about them. Silently start chanting “Love melts all blockages” over and over as

you bless your tight or dark areas with your breath and acceptance.

You can also offer yourself total forgiveness for any alleged mistakes you may have made that

may be connected with those painful or blocked areas of your body. Offer apologies to those

you have hurt, and forgiveness to those who have harmed you. Fill all your relationships with

the golden light of forgiveness and love.

Continue for a minimum of 5 minutes, although 10 – 20 minutes or more will take you much

deeper. You are tapping into the great healing power of pure awareness, breath and self-love.

You may have heard many times about meditating to open your heart, raise your

consciousness, feel inner joy, move energy, etc. For this meditation don’t worry about any of

those ideals. This meditation is all about being with yourself just the way you are. Practice the

essence of Billy Joel’s famous song “I Love You Just the Way You Are” with yourself.

When you are done give thanks to your awareness and your heart.

Chapter Five

The Miracle of 5D Healing

You Have Always Been Whole and Complete, Now You Can Feel That

Way!

I just completed leading a workshop on Fifth Dimensional healing last weekend at our local

Unity Church. Over the last four days I have spoken with at least four attendees who told me

that they experienced life-changing miracles of healing at the event. One was able to

comfortably do an activity she had been phobic about doing for years. Another told me that

deeply entrenched depression disappeared. A highly accomplished healer was able to

breakthrough into a new level of integration she had not previously been able to access.

Each of these people have been spiritually aware for many years or even decades, yet what

they experienced were new levels of rapid positive transformation. I believe I did a good job

facilitating the workshop, but I can’t take credit for these miracles of healing. They took place

because our workshop exercises and activities took place within a field of higher dimensional

light of Divine love. People were literally re-connecting with the perfect, unlimited part of

themselves and bringing it into their bodies. Awesome! (yes that over-hyped word IS applicable

here).

I have released a lot of energy. I feel open and expansive, can’t help but smile. I feel

connected to the unified field of greater intelligence. Thank you so much! Elsa

5D Healing is amazing and revolutionary. It is unlike all medical and holistic healing systems.

But how to describe it?

In order to clearly describe 5D Healing let’s first get a perspective by looking at 3D and 4D

healing.

On a physical level 3D (third dimensional) refers to our material world. All “things” in our

Universe have length, width and height - the 3 dimensions. In this book I am using the term 3D

more to refer to a state of consciousness in which we feel stuck in the physical and out of touch

with our Spirit.

Third dimensional (3D) medicine and therapies are physical treatments like drugs, surgery

and physical therapy. Western medicine is almost purely 3D. 3D therapies focus on changing

or repairing a part of the body or aspect of the mind. Because it is rarely taking the whole

person into account it is common for there to be negative side effects. 3D medicine is also very

expensive. 3D offers amazing life-saving interventions, but is weak for preventing suffering or

improving people’s quality of life.

3D consciousness is characterized by experiences of:

Page 19: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

17

· Focus on solving problems and “putting out fires”

· Separation and polarization with others – personally, politically, economically and globally

· Fatigue, adrenal stress or exhaustion from focusing on solving problems and overcoming resistance. Kind of like rolling a boulder up the mountain over and over. Makes you get old.

· “Weapons of mass distraction” that keep filling our minds with mind numbing “stuff” so that we keep missing out on what is most important.

Get the picture?

Fourth dimensional (4D) therapies are more holistic

and integrative than 3D. They usually look at the mind

and body together. 4D therapies include acupuncture,

homeopathy, color therapy, energy healing, reiki and

integrative medicine.

Time, or duration, is often considered to be a 4th

dimension. Therefore 4D therapies take the cycles of

nature into account in diagnosis and treatment. While

4D therapies are more holistic and natural than 3D they

are still mostly focused on solving problems, and is

therefore dualistic in nature.

The 4th dimension is often referred to as the astral

plane. 4D experiences include:

· Mind over matter

· Magic, shape shifting

· Metaphysics

· New possibilities and opportunities

· The cosmic struggle between light and dark energies

Fifth dimensional (5D) reconnection is not truly healing in the literal sense of the word. 5D

sessions are not about fixing or clearing anything. It is a process for physically reconnecting

your body to your higher Being through the systematic infusion of Divine love and higher

dimensional light.

The 5th dimension is the realm of unity, oneness and inter-connectedness. The 5D aspect of

ourselves:

· Is whole and complete and HAS NEVER HAD A PROBLEM

· Is in direct flow and connection with our source of all good and supply (that includes money)

· Experiences and radiates unconditional love and service

· Is unlimited and can create awesome outcomes in our physical and emotional lives

Page 20: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

18

How does 5D reconnection work?

Acupuncturists describe energy pathways in the body

called meridians. Meridians contain acupuncture points

which can be stimulated with needles, heat or

microcurrent for pain relief, healing or rejuvenation. In

5D work these meridians are referred to as axiatonal lines

and certain acupuncture points are referred to as spin

points.

The Earth also has its own axiatonal lines, as does the

solar system, galaxies and the Universe. At one time the

axiatonal lines of human beings were in direct connection

and flow with the Universal lines of force, and life was

very different. Through what has often been called the

“fall from grace” our race largely disconnected our body’s

energy pathways from those of the Universe. This led to

all manner of pain, disease, conflict, scarcity and spiritual

dis-connection.

We might say that 5D reconnection helps reverse that fall

from grace, putting you back into direct connection with

Divine source. Now, that’s something to get excited

about!

There are 5D healing practices you can do for yourself that will help you reclaim your calm

center and raise your vibration. You will learn more about practices you can do for yourself in

Chapter Six.

There are also increasing number of 5D group events you can attend. Information about ones

in this area (Marin County, CA) can be found on my website at www.drstarwynn.com/events

When you are in need of healing for significant issues there are varied methods of 5D healing

that you can receive from a trained practitioner.

In the sessions I offer the client usually lies face up on a treatment table in a meditative space. I

facilitate reconnection by directing 5D laser light from Source into the client’s energy fields, and

also through my hands and fingers into axiatonal lines and spin points on the client’s body.

This could be described as a form of Divine acupuncture where no needles are required.

Almost everyone who receives these sessions experiences a deep sense of relaxation and well-

being. Those that are more sensitive to energy usually also report blissful feelings of energy

and light moving through their bodies.

Page 21: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

19

The experience is different for

each person, and it is what is

perfect for them to receive from

their source. The analogy I gave

earlier of restoring a computer to

correct functioning by

downloading new, fresh files from

the server, then rebooting is

appropriate!

I felt a tremendous release of

trauma that has been

embedded in my tissues for

decades. Melanie H.

A 5D healer can sense where the

subtle energy wiring of your

axiatonal lines and spin points are

frayed or broken, and can help restore them to full connection and function. Kind of like a

spiritual electrician. Or not.

Because 5D is the quantum realm of Oneness geographical distance does not matter in

receiving sessions. The benefits are the same whether the receiver is in the same room as the

healer, or around the world. Many clients prefer to have in-person sessions, but it is not

necessary.

Does 5D reconnection heal? The root of most, if not all, pain, depression, fatigue and disease is

a deep sense of disconnection from our loving, abundant Source. As you get physically re-

wired to Source you move out of separation and into the love and joy of living fully. Your

energies are freed up from struggle for creative self-expression and giving your greatest gift to

the world.

As you are reconnected the innate wisdom of your body can much more readily restore and

rejuvenate itself. Therefore improvements in health and well-being are likely.

Reclaiming our Pure Center

And what about the self-replicating PTSD programs described earlier? If you want to de-bug

your mind and reclaim the inner peace and love of your pure center you can do it. Taking back

your inner peace requires your love and determination. That is SO much easier to do when you

feel reconnected to your Source, as happens with 5D Healing. Then all those dark shadows of

fear, shame, guilt, obligation and more lose their grip and your true spiritual Will can re-assert

itself. Understand?

Page 22: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

20

No claims or promises of specific medical results can be made for 5D reconnection, yet inspiring

positive changes are common. These changes may be noticed right away or several days later.

They could be in the areas of improved health, relationships, finances or spiritual awareness.

This experience was magical in bringing us on a path to the Divine. The teaching went

deeply into my soul and they gave me bliss and deep feelings of love. Carol P

Chapter Six

Five Ways to Beat the Stress System and Get Free

Personal Mastery Practices

What are some things you do every day? Brush your teeth? Eat? Wash up? Walk your dog?

Most of us have rituals like these that we do every day without fail. We just know that we must

do these things to survive, or at least not smell bad.

Yet very few people are committed to daily practices that could preserve their peace of mind

and help them fulfill the greater promise of their life. Most say they are too busy, or are just

basically freaked out by the prospect of slowing down enough to go within, or as my daughter

Sonya so eloquently says “look at their shit”.

I was quite alienated during my teenage years, and had a love affair with marijuana and LSD for

a few years. Using these substances frequently, combined with wounding from my past put me

in a very emotionally unstable condition by age 18. I could feel that I was going downward,

getting more depressed and paranoid. Fortunately I never totally lost touch with my pure

center. I always sensed that there was a goodness and rich potential for my life even through

the dark times.

In the summer of 1971 I was living in Boulder, Colorado, a haven for hippies and spiritual

practitioners. I was working odd jobs and living in various crash pads, including a long stay in

Rocky Mountain National Park.

I heard about a young Guru named Maharaji from India who was going to speak at the

University. I went to see him and accepted his invitation to receive spiritual Knowledge from

him. Within a few months I was on a Jumbo Jet bound for India, to start a two month odyssey

with a group of American and British hippies and ex-hippies, to be with our new teacher.

The inner Knowledge Maharaji imparted to me did indeed show me the way to find my inner

center and meditate. It was very hard at first because my inner mitote (see Chapter One) made

it feel like I was trying to meditate in a stadium full of screaming football fans with three different

rock bands playing and bombers flying overhead! But I persevered, and gradually I was able to

concentrate for longer periods of time. Now, 45 years later my inner practices are a precious

and vital part of my daily routine. It is of great importance to me to take some time every day to

cultivate the inner garden of my pure center and self-love.

In this Chapter I will share five remarkably powerful inner practices that anyone can do. Making

a commitment to do some of these will make a huge difference in your quality and enjoyment of

life, and your health. Even an initial commitment of 5 minutes of practice, twice a day is a great

start, and can change your life. These are food for your soul, and will support you in

transforming your stress into inner peace and groundedness.

Page 24: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

22

To make it easy as pie for you to learn these practices, I have made videos of me leading you in

practicing most of them. You can access those videos for free by going to my website

www.drstarwynn.com and registering as a free member. Once you do that you can watch

these videos as much as you want until you have internalized the practices. (your email

address will be safe with me - I will never rent or sell it to anyone else).

These practices work on both the 4D and 5D levels, as just explained in the previous Chapter.

When you first start working with them it is more in 4D, because you are trying to improve the

quality of your experience. The more you get into the inner spirit of the practices the more you

will be going into Oneness, which is in the realm of 5D.

When you click any of the links for the practice videos below, you will be prompted to register

the first time you do that. After that you can just access the videos directly from these links.

Personal Mastery Practice #1: Mindfulness and Self Love

I know lots of people who have been devoted to their path of spirituality, meditation or service to

others for decades. Most of them could stand to circle back and love themselves more. It

seems to be the one thing that we miss in our quest for fulfillment and enlightenment!

It is our false beliefs about ourselves and lack of self-love that open the door for buggy stress

programs to pollute our calm center.

Some people I have talked with actually believe it is wrong to deeply love themselves. They

have been trained to see this as a form of conceit. Don’t believe that! That is one more

message from the dark side to keep people disempowered and down. Conceitedness,

narcissism and self-centeredness are really cover-ups for lack of self-love.

Ultimately self-love is the #1 thing you have to do first and foremost. Sit with your pain. Feel

your reactions, emotions, sensations, impulses, urges, frustrations. Where are they stemming

from? Where do you feel them arise? If you get rejected, what is your go-to reaction? What’s

the first thought that crosses your mind? That uncomfortable feeling that results is YOU. Take

a beat. Sit with it. Feel it caressing through your veins. Be your pain. Send love to that area.

And guess what? You felt the reaction, and no one died. You survived it. You’re a powerful

being and you can survive even the worst rejection. It hurts, yes. But if you love yourself, it will

be ok.

Page 25: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

23

This is what being truly conscious is all about: feeling those uncomfortable feelings, practicing

forgiveness, self-love, self-acceptance, and growth/taking action. This is all part of

mindfulness.

Mindfulness practices are all the rage these days - because they work. Mindfulness is keeping

your attention in the present moment as much as possible, and be a witness to all the

experiences and ups and downs of your life. You know you are practicing mindfulness when

someone does something to hurt your feelings, and instead of instantly reacting you say to

yourself “Interesting - there I am feeling hurt and wanting to defend myself and lash out”. That

part of yourself that is observing your emotional reactions is your Higher Self, and

congratulations, you are getting to know it.

A word of caution: practicing mindfulness does not mean that you should detach from your

emotions and deny them. There is nothing wrong with anger, grief, sadness, elation or feeling

down sometimes. These are our real human feelings. So allow yourself to feel the full richness

and textures of your emotions. Practicing mindfulness will actually help you to feel your

emotions even more because you will be less likely to judge and reject yourself for feeling them.

To make this easier I have created a practice video called Mindfulness and Self-Love on my

website. You can access it at http://drstarwynn.com/videos/.

Personal Mastery Practice #2: Neti Neti

Neti is a Sanskrit word meaning “not this”. As you are practicing mindfulness you can observe

thoughts arising in your mind. Whenever you become aware of a un-useful thought, one that

would bring you down if you “entertain” it, you simply say Neti Neti. You are consciously

choosing to not entertain that thought or invest your precious attention into it.

As you learned in Chapter Three, many of the negative thoughts that arise in your mind are not

even your own. That is even more reason to get good at Neti Neti.

Here is an example of a woman named Beverly’s inner dialogue when first waking up in the

morning. She is practicing Neti Neti :

Oh my God, it’s morning

Darn, it’s 7:15, I slept in. Now I have to rush to get to work Neti Neti

I never did get that report done for my boss, I’ll be in trouble Neti Neti

And I feel so poor, how am I going to make my mortgage? Neti Neti

I feel kind of generally bad Neti Neti

And guilty because I never did get to the gym last night. Or at all this week. Or month Neti

Neti

And I didn’t walk Spot last night cause I was watching the tube, now he’ll be looking at me

with those mournful eyes Neti Neti

Page 26: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

24

I must be a bad person and a loser Neti Neti

But I am excited about seeing Steve tonight, he’s hot Neti Neti

But he always shows up late and then I feel unappreciated Neti Neti

What if he hurts me like George and all the others do? Neti Neti

God, I need coffee, did I put the pot on last night? Neti Neti

Yada, yada

So this is very simple. To practice this effectively you need to be sensitive to how your

thoughts are making you feel. When you feel your mood and energy going down, the thought

you just entertained was negative. So don’t judge yourself, beat yourself up or worry about it

Just say Neti Neti silently or out loud (if you are alone), and let go of it. Finito.

If a persistent thought with a lot of emotional charge does not dissipate after you say Neti Neti,

just persist in the practice. Show that thought who’s boss!

Even when you have positive thoughts that temporarily make you feel better, you can still say

Neti Neti to them. Why? Because what goes up must come down. If you see all your

thoughts, positive and negative as unreal, you will be left in a state of Being, or Tao. That is the

true state of inner peace.

From that place you can enjoy your life fully and be a powerful manifester. To be in Tao you

don’t have to live like a monk.

An even more useful aspect of this practice is to love all your thoughts and experiences.

Spiritual teacher Matt Kahn put it well in the title of his book: “Whatever Arises, Love That”.

Rather than just negating the negative thought, say I love you to it. And really mean it. These

thoughts could be coming from a vulnerable, wounded part of you that really needs love. Either

way, love them and relax.

I will now bring Beverly’s inner dialogue back for how she can love herself through this process:

Oh my God, it’s morning I love you

Darn, it’s 7:15, I slept in. Now I have to rush to get to work I am so grateful to be alive

today

I never did get that report done for my boss, I’ll be in trouble I love you

And I feel so poor, how am I going to make my mortgage? I love that part of me that feels

insecure

I feel kind of generally bad I love this vulnerable part of me!

And guilty because I never did get to the gym last night. Or at all this week. Or month It’s

OK, I love myself and love my body. As I love my body I WANT to get active!

And I didn’t walk Spot last night cause I was watching the tube, now he’ll be looking at me

with those mournful eyes I love Spot and will love him even more today

I must be a bad person and a loser I love the part of me that is hurting and self-judgmental

Page 27: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

25

But I am excited about seeing Steve tonight, he’s hot I love the part of me that is sensual

and alive

But he always shows up late and then I feel unappreciated I love that vulnerable part of my

inner child

What if he hurts me like George and all the others do? I will keep loving myself no matter

what

God, I need coffee, did I put the pot on last night? I will take a few minutes to breathe and

stretch and feel my essence right now. Ahhhh, that feels good

Yada, yada

Of course, adapt this practice to what works for you. This is a powerful form of mindfulness that

can change your life.

Personal Mastery Practice #3: Unified Field

This is the simplest and quickest way to

integrate your body and mind with the

totality of your Being. And by expanded

I don’t mean spaced out. This

meditation also grounds and energizes

you for the joys and challenges of

everyday life.

According to traditional Chinese Medicine

our Heart is the center and integrator of

all our organs and emotions. The Heart

is called the Emperor in some

acupuncture teachings. I am capitalizing

the word Heart to refer to the love and

energy center called the Heart Chakra

more than just the physical heart organ.

Yet both are included.

In case you are not familiar with the term

chakra, it refers to centers of energy and

consciousness in our bodies. Those

would be the colored spheres inside the man’s body in the picture on this page.

People with PTSD, anxiety, chronic stress and just plain old everyday neurosis are not feeling a

lot of integration within themselves. The Unified Field meditation puts all of your chakras,

including the higher Spiritual ones above your head, into alignment with each other and the love

center of your Heart.

Page 28: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

26

In the Unified Field meditation you will be guided to visualize an expanding ball of golden light

surrounding expanding levels of your chakra system. I love this practice and do it many times

each day.

You can do the Unified Field meditation in 3 - 7 minutes. After you have practiced it for a while

you can stay Unified 24 - 7. As that happens the quality of your life will improve in many ways.

You can access the Unified Field practice video at: http://drstarwynn.com/videos/

As you watch this video you will hear some terms in the guided meditation that may be

unfamiliar to you, such as oversoul, I AM presence or Source. Don’t worry about that - it is not

important to mentally understand all the terms to gain great benefit from the meditation. Just

relax and go with it. Once you have watched the video a few times you will be able to do the

Unified Field meditation with your eyes closed, visualizing the expanding light ball. That is even

more beneficial.

Personal Mastery Practice #4: Forgiveness Practice

Back in Chapter One I wrote about the mitote, or fog of loose ends and unfinished business that

swirls around inside our minds. A lot of this fog is created by our past relationships that ended

on a hurt, betrayed or angry note. If you believe in reincarnation as I do, that could total a

dizzying amount of unfinished business! Each of those could be draining some of your vital

energy and clouding your heart. So it is a great idea to clean up the fog.

How? Mindfulness and self-love is a great way. The other main way is through forgiveness

practice.

The most obvious form of forgiveness is to talk directly to a person you have had negativity with

and apologize, or forgive them. If that person will talk with you, that is the best thing to do. If

you can’t talk to him because he is estranged or no longer living, you can still do a meaningful

forgiveness practice.

Whenever you feel hurt, rejected or other garden variety painful feelings it is a great opportunity

to practice forgiveness, and you don’t need anyone else to be present.

The Hawaiian healing practice of Ho’oponopono consists of four simple phrases:

I am sorry

I forgive you

I love you

Thank you

Sincerely repeating these for 5 minutes or more can bring about beautiful emotional shifts.

A more thorough forgiveness practice, as taught by Master Zhi Gang Sha, can be done by

following these steps:

Page 29: Reclaiming Our Calm Center 0225 - Eastwestmed.com Our Calm Center.pdfstress, which is a self-replicating program set to continuously loop in our minds, similar to computer viruses

27

Get in a meditative space, allowing yourself to feel your feelings about the person or situation

you want to bring forgiveness into.

Say the sacred mantra San San Jo Liu Ba Yao Wu 3 times. This is the sequence of numbers

3396815 in Mandarin Chinese, and and activates your soul communication abilities.

Imagine a large conference room in front of you. Call all the souls you wish to have forgiveness

with. Imagine them responding, and coming into the auditorium to listen to what you have to

say from you heart. You can do this with a single person, or do a blanket forgiveness practice

with ALL the souls you have unfinished business with in your mitote.

It doesn’t matter whether the souls you call hurt you or were hurt by you. Either way you should

first apologize to them, and then forgive them. Why? Because what goes around comes

around. No one is truly a victim. Those who are hurt hurt others at one point. Those who are

actiing as perpetrators now were hurt in the past. This only makes full sense if you believe that

we have been here many times.

For example, when doing forgiveness practice with a romantic partner who just cheated on you

and then you dumped him, you could speak something like this:

San San Jo Liu Ba Yao Wu, San San Jo Liu Ba Yao Wu, San San Jo Liu Ba Yao Wu

Dear Tom, I call your soul here to this forgiveness practice. Please come.

Even though you cheated on me and broke my heart, I recognize that I have hurt you many

times by withholding my love and energy so I could feel powerful and in charge. I closed off

to you because I really did not fully respect you as a man. So I take responsibility for my

part of what happened, and deeply apologize to you for what I did. I also apologize to you

for what I may have done to you in previous lifetimes, even though I don’t remember them.

Please accept my apology and please forgive me.

What you did to me was devastating, and I feel very hurt and angry. I would like to find

ways to get back at you and make you hurt the way I am now. But I don’t want to keep

recreating this dysfunctional relationship between us. I acknowledge and honor my feelings,

but it is my choice to totally and completely forgive you, just as I need to be forgiven. I

release you from any and all debt and obligation to me so we are both free of this and can

move on. You owe me nothing. I wish you well and great blessings on your onward

journey.

Thank you for coming to this forgiveness practice. I now close this soul communication.

Thank you thank you thank you

Love you, love you, love you

Gong Song, Gong Song, Gong Song (means Respectfully Return).

There is also a video on http://drstarwynn.com/videos/ that guides you through a forgiveness

practice. Following this video a few times will get you started. Then you can adapt the

practice yourself to whatever arises.

Personal Mastery Practice #5: The Inner Smile

This is a simple, fun and powerful way to boost your health and vitality by loving and

acknowledging your internal organs. Why do this?

OK, I’ll tell you. Imagine that you got married to a woman who lived in the same house as you

and slept in the same bed, but never spoke to you or even acknowledged your existence. You

worked hard and steadily around the clock to serve and support her. You knew that if you

stopped serving her she would quickly die, but she just took it all for granted and never gave

anything back to you.

She didn’t even know where you were most of the time and did not care to learn! Not only that,

but she sometimes made you sick and hurting by forcing you to take in toxic and harmful

substances. You tried for decades to get her attention, to get her to acknowledge and love you

but she persisted in ignoring you.

Finally in despair and a world of hurt, you collapsed and could serve her no more. Only then did

she pay attention to you, and then only from a place of fear and panic. If her doctors were able

to revive you, she soon went back to ignoring and abusing you again.

I’ll bet that sounds like a really bad deal in a relationship, right?!?!?

Well that is how most of us treat our own internal organs! Go back and read the preceding

paragraphs and see if you get what I am saying.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine each of our internal organs has its own soul essence

and consciousness. Each of the five major organs is the generator of one of our primary

emotions, as follows:

Anger is generated by the Liver and Gall Bladder, known as the Wood element

Grief is generated by the Lungs and Large Intestine, known as the Metal element

Worry is generated by the Spleen and Stomach, known as the Earth element

Joy, depression and anxiety are generated by the Heart and Small Intestine, known as the

Fire element (there are two additional organs in the Fire element - the Triple Warmer and

Pericardium also involved with those emotions)

Fear is generated by the Kidneys and Urinary Bladder, known as the Water element

I capitalized the name of each Organ to refer to the package of physicality and consciousness

that Chinese Medicine recognizes for them. So, far from just being pieces of meat doing a

bodily function, our Organs are vital parts of our personality, emotions and spirituality. Now

does it make more sense to send love to them?

Here is a guided meditation for the Inner Smile.

Sit up straight in a relaxed position. Breathe deeply into your lower abdomen (Tan Tian).

Think about the person, animal or place that most easily brings up feelings of love within

you. Get into that feeling of love, appreciation and gratitude.

Now put a big smile on your face - yes a real physical smile. Tune into the love and

appreciation behind your smile and amplify that feeling as much as you can.

Visualize sending that big loving smile down into your

own body (you can go back to loving your friend or

animal very soon). Start by directing that smile into the

center of your chest, into your Heart. Put one of your

hands over your Heart to strengthen your focus there.

Visualize your physical Heart and Heart Chakra bathed in

your own love and smile. See beautiful ruby red light

surrounding and filling your Heart and Small Intestine.

Think about how tirelessly your Heart has served you by

keeping you alive through all kinds of ups and downs,

from the time you were formed in your mother’s womb

right up to the present moment. Give your Heart its just

love and gratitude.

When you feel complete with your Heart, move your inner

smile to your Liver, under your right rib cage. Move your

hand to be over your Liver. Visualize beautiful healing

green light surrounding and filling your Liver and Gall

Bladder. Think what an amazing servant your Liver has

been, keeping your alive and detoxifying all kinds of

harmful substances you have taken in, and keeping your

Ch’i, or vital energy flowing smoothly throughout your

body.

When you feel complete with your Liver, move your inner

smile to your Spleen, under your left rib cage. Move your

hand to be over your Spleen. Visualize beautiful healing

yellow gold light surrounding and filling your Spleen,

Pancreas and Stomach. Think what amazing servants your these Organs have been,

digesting your food, regulating your blood sugar and helping keep your immune system

strong.

When you feel complete with your Spleen, move your inner smile to your Lungs, in your

chest. Move your hand to be over either one of your Lungs. Visualize beautiful healing

white light surrounding and filling your Lungs and Large Intestine. Think what an amazing

servant your Lungs have been, taking in air, filtering out toxins and keeping you alive.

When you feel complete with your Lungs, move your inner smile to your Kidneys, in the

upper part of your lower back. Move your hand to be over your Kidneys. Visualize beautiful

healing blue light surrounding and filling your Kidneys and Bladder. Think what an amazing

servant your Kidneys have been, regulating body fluids, filtering blood, maintaining your

healthy blood pressure and being a storehouse for deep energy reserves.

You can also send love and your inner smile to other Organs, such as your brain, uterus,

thyroid, adrenals, or any painful parts of your body.

Love melts all blockages. Love is the greatest healer. When you love your Organs you are

loving yourself and taking a stand for Life.

Summary and Resources for the Path

Where to Go From Here

If you have read this far, congratulations! You are well on your path of fulfillment and

awakening, just by being you.

I hope this short book has served to inform you about why you may have been experiencing

some of the strange or difficult things you have been feeling, and inspire you to take a bold

stand to reclaim your calm center. In our modern society that is one of the greatest treasures

we can lay claim to.

Reclaiming your sacred inner core of peace and limitless love is not a one shot deal. It is an

ongoing commitment to living a conscious, juicy life full of meaning and contribution.

I have figured out for myself that maintaining my calm center is the most important action on my

to-do list. Or should it be my “to-be” list?!? The quality of everything to do with my professional

work, relationships, finances, health, achievements and spirituality is totally tied to this. All

these areas of my life, and your life, work better and flow more beautifully when we are

connected to our inner garden of tranquility.

Reclaiming your calm center is a revolutionary political act as well! In this election year a top

way to make a difference to our country and world is to be a center of peace and make a

commitment to share and radiate love. All you need to do is be yourself, love yourself and be

mindful in the present moment.

As you learn to live from your calm center there are usually two urges that arise. One is to take

some time each day to meditate or do consciousness-affirming practices, such as the ones I

presented in Chapter Five. The other urge is usually to be with other people who are also

claiming and enjoying their calm center.

This is called spiritual community. This is a hot subject here in my area. There is a growing

hunger for opportunities to get together with others who value sharing love, music, spiritual

practices, healing, education, childcare and conscious businesses. Creating and participating in

spiritual community is a great way to make a difference on our planet, as the power of groups

amplifies our positive sphere of influence.

As Marianne Williamson’s quote so eloquently stated, we are far more powerful than we know.

People joke about those who want to change the world because it may seem so “pie in the sky”,

“woo-woo” or other derogatory terms. The truth is that you do have the power to change the

world! It starts with transforming your inner world and then it radiates outward. The Unified

Field meditation presented in the last Chapter is a particularly powerful way to do and be that.

Listen to and believe the small still voice in your heart. Have the courage to believe in your

visions and dreams, and take action to make them your reality. We are all being tested and

challenged during this time of transition on our planet. Our life issues and psychological

imbalances are not truly problems - they are our gateway into an expanded life. These are the

precise areas where our steadfast love, faith and mindfulness can create demonstrations of the

power of healing and renewal. These will uplift your life and be an inspiration to others.

Darren’s healing journey awakened with a journey to India in 1971 to study with a spiritual
