The above recognition also applies to holders ofthe Full Technological Diploma (FTD), formerlyknown as Full Technological Certificate or (FTC).

Students holding a Technician Diplomamay be considered for first year entry to aBournemouth University Bachelors degree.Each application will be judged on the merit ofthe student’s full profile, including gradesachieved during full schooling, English languagecapabilities, extra curricular activities andrelevant employment experience.

The above IVQs will provide a suitablebenchmark entry point though successfulcompletion will not assure that an offer is madeto the candidate.

Bournemouth University is consistently rankedamong the UK’s top performing modernuniversities. The Guardian’s University Guide hasnamed the University number one newuniversity and number one for studies in tourismfor the last two years. The University has around17,000 students, including over 1600international students from 130 countries.

Bournemouth claims a number of innovative‘firsts’ in its growing portfolio of courses,including in the area of tourism, media-relatedprogrammes and conservation. Among the newdevelopments is the world’s first fullycommercial teaching hotel, a four-starestablishment with public- and private-sectorbacking.

All such applicants will be treated on anindividual basis, and considered on the merit,not only for entry itself, but also for any form ofaccreditation of prior learning or AdvancedStanding which might be appropriate.

All Engineering programmes require evidence ofperformance in Maths to the equivalent of atleast grade B at A level.

Derby has been awarded more work-basedqualifications than any other UK university. The University has built very close links with the local industry, especially in aerospace, rail,electrical power and electronics and its partnersinclude global brands such as Rolls-Royce andToyota. Many of the University’s courses havebeen developed with employers and areaccredited by professional bodies.

The University has also been at the forefront ofthe adoption of new teaching methods,pioneering the use of interactive video for anational scheme and over half of its researchactivity has been ranked as 'of internationalexcellence' and some even as 'world class'.

The Advanced Technician Diploma willpermit entry to year 3 of either the BEngElectrical and Electronic Engineering or the BEngElectrical Engineering (Power).

This will allow a degree to be obtained after oneyear of study and an honours degree after two.

Edinburgh Napier is one of Scotland’s leadingmodern universities with a distinctlyinternational flavour. There are around 15,000students at the University, including over 2000international students from more than 100countries.

Pembrokeshire College is an accredited collegeof the University of Glamorgan and deliversdegrees validated by the University. The courseshave a strong vocational focus and have beendesigned to meet the needs of businesses.

There are around 2,000 full-time students at theCollege, including 100 international students.Students can make significant savings bystudying for a University of Glamorgan course atthe College which is reflected in the increasingnumber of international applications.

The University of Glamorgan has about 21,000students, including over 3000 internationalstudents. Glamorgan is home to the firsthydrogen research and demonstration centre in England and Wales, while Atrium, theuniversity’s new £35m campus in Cardiff, housesthe UK’s first university-based music academy.

Holders of the Technician Diploma will beconsidered for entry to the first year ofappropriate degree programmes.

All applications would be considered on anindividual basis and, as with all vocationalqualifications, the University will reserve theright to request additional qualifications toensure that the applicant is appropriatelyprepared for the demands of degree level study.

• An applicant for the Course will be considered for admission provided that all other academic and non-academic requirements are met.

Colombo International Nautical & EngineeringCollege (CINEC) is Sri Lanka's largest privatehigher education institution offering over 175 training programmes to 14,000 students.

The Maleba campus of CINEC manages theBachelor of Engineering (OBIF) programme ofthe University of South Australia (UniSA).

Students study the first years of the four-yearprogramme at CINEC and transfer to UniSA forthe next two years. It provides details on the skills that candidatesare required to demonstrate in order to achievea City & Guilds certificate, helps learners toprepare for job interviews and allows employersto choose the best candidate to work for theirorganisation.

City & Guilds was the first UK awarding body tolaunch the Europass Certificate Supplement andstill the only one offering it across itsqualification portfolio.

The American Society of CertifiedEngineering Technicians (ASCET)www.ascet.org

Holders of an Advanced TechnicianDiploma are eligible to apply for CertifiedMembership status.

Holders of a Technician Diploma arenormally eligible to apply for RegularMembership status.

Holders of a Technician Certificate with aminimum of two years relevant workingexperience are normally eligible to apply forRegular Membership status.

ASCET is the only national, professional societyin the United States created especially for, andadministered by, engineering technicians andtechnologists in all engineering disciplines.
