ReconstructionAfter the American Civil war.The Reconstruction era was after the American civil war, from 1865 to 1877.Reconstruction addressed how the eleven seceding states would regainself-government and be re-seated in congress, some of these states were Tennessee, Arkansas and Louisiana. President Abraham Lincoln set up Reconstructed governments in several southern states during the civil war.White Southerners who supported reconstruction cooperated to form Republican state governments, Which introduced various reconstructionProgram, offered massive aid to railroads, Built public schools and raised taxes. The end of reconstruction was followed by a period that white Southerners labelled redemption, Which saw the enactment of the Jim Crow laws and disenfranchisement of most blacks.

Who is Jim Crow?Jim Crow is not actually a person, Jim crow is the name of the laws that segregate The Blacks from the whites. These laws first came into society after the American Civil war, The name Jim Crow originally comes from a song preformed by Thomas D. Rice written in 1828.

What are the Jim Crow laws?

The Jim Crow laws were state and local laws in the United States between 1876 and 1965. They Were Created to Keep Blacks and whites separate, Some examples of Jim Crow laws are the segregationof public schools, public places, public transportation, restrooms,restaurants, drinking fountains and even the U.S. military weresegregated.

So why did they wantBlacks and whites segregated?For more than 200 years before the Civil War, slavery existed in the United States. But after the war things began to get worse for blacks. The south thought they needed to do something. The Southern legislatures, former confederates, passed laws known as the black codes, after the war, they severely limited the rights of blacks and segregated them from whites. before there was no need to separate whites and blacks because 95% of blacks were slaves, But they were separated at schools, theaters, taverns, and other public places.
