"Red"

Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead-end streetFaster than the wind, passionate as sin, ending so suddenly

Loving him is like trying to change your mind once you're already flying through the free fallLike the colors in autumn, so bright just before they lose it all

Losing him was blue like I'd never known

Missing him was dark grey all aloneForgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met

But loving him was redLoving him was red

Touching him was like realizing all you ever wanted was right there in front of you

Memorizing him was as easy as knowing all the words to your old favorite songFighting with him was like trying to solve a crossword and realizing there's no right answer

Regretting him was like wishing you never found out that love could be that strong

Losing him was blue like I'd never knownMissing him was dark grey all alone

Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never metBut loving him was red

Oh, redBurning red

Remembering him comes in flashbacks and echoesTell myself it's time now, gotta let go

But moving on from him is impossibleWhen I still see it all in my head

In burning redBurning, it was red

Oh, losing him was blue like I'd never known

Missing him was dark grey all aloneForgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met

'Cause loving him was redYeah, yeah, red

We're burning red

And that's why he's spinnin' 'round in my headComes back to me, burning red

Yeah, yeah

His love was like driving a new Maserati down a dead-end street

ToneTaylor Swift has very a very intense attitude toward her song red. In a past interview she explained "I wrote this song about the fact that some things are just hard to forget," she said, "because the emotions involved with them were so intense and, to me, intense emotion is red.” You can tell that her tone toward the song is quite depressing and gloomy.

MoodThe mood of the song is very lonely and dreary. The song is constantly saying how she will never move on and how Losing him was the worst thing that ever happened to her.

Page 12: Red Taylor Swift By: Alexa Durand and Erika McLaren

This song is about many different things. It is about Taylor Swifts love and how it comes to a screaming halt and ends. "Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead-end street". It talks about how passionate Taylor is for this guy and how it ends so fast, "Faster than the wind, passionate as sin, ending so suddenly". The main idea of the song is evolved around the word "red" and she explains that "loving him was red" and what she means by that is to her intense emotions are red.

Song Interpretation

Page 13: Red Taylor Swift By: Alexa Durand and Erika McLaren

We picked this song because it is one of our favorite songs by Taylor swift, and we felt that is had good deep meaning and would be a good song for this assignment. "Losing him was blue like I'd never know, Missing him was dark grey all alone, Forgetting him was like trying to know someone you never met" these lines have great meaning, and make so much sense to me, they make you think about what that is like to you or what it might be like. This song is passionate and meaningful and that is why we chose to use it for this assignment.
